4.1 32oz crowler pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin near white head of foam. The aroma offers up slivers of pine hops and malts leading to a cloud of floral hoppiness. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of bitter pine hoppiness steeped in thick sweet malts and leading to an unmistakable bitter floral hops. This is chewy and deep and firmly bitter to the core and I'm liking it. The big ABV is very well hidden. Solid sipper.
3.8 Clear golden appearance with a beige head. Aroma of resinous hops, toasted malt, mild fruit and light alcohol. Similar taste. Medium to full body with a resinous hop finish. Bold.
4.0 12 oz bottle. Strong smell of centennial. Crystal clear with lively carbonation. dark amber in color. Malts are well balanced by the hops. Getting a touch of sweet caramel mixed with citrus followed by bitter resin toned down by the malts. Slightly bitter finish. I can't believe this is 11%, booze is well hidden. Smooth as can be. Yum.
4.4 Wow. What a good beer to top off interview number one. From my number one and one I will never forget when I drink more of, which I certainly will, enjoying each one, one by one at a time.
3.5 On tap at Hops & Pie poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of caramel, earthiness and pine. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, earthiness, pine and a hint of fruitiness with a crisp dry bitter lingering earthy pine finish.
4.0 Pine boozy mega malt and hops. Not bad for a different bold spin, bottle of this and it's off to bed 😴
3.3 Cooper color with a large soapy head. bitter with pine, orange, tobacco, leather and a boozy presence. Very long finish. Full bodied.
4.6 Double your pleasure of the two hearted. Loaded with hops and very smooth for the high ABV
3.5 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 09/03/20 so it is rather old at this point. Attractive amber pour underneath a lingering off-white head. The aroma shows some staleness but I still get a little resin and dank hops along with a notable caramel malt sensation. Smooth, medium body. The taste has a pleasant balance of sweet malts and resiny hops with a lingering finish. Little to no booze at 11%.
4.3 Rating 5,000 - This amber brew has a rich aroma of citrus and resinous hops. The big, intense flavor is full of hops with plenty of citrus and pine character and a big, full malt backbone. This beer is a delicious hop bomb and for me lives up to the standards of the regular Two Hearted Ale.
3.9 Rich amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, pine/resin hops, caramel, & nice rich citrus/orange; Flavor of sweet malt, pine hops, chewy caramel/toffee, and citrus (notable orange & grapefruit); Finish is fairly bitter with some alcohol; Nice big old-school style IPA.
4.3 Really good DIPA. Great pine taste, sweetish malts & hops
4.4 Hazy orange and thick head. Aroma is crisp outdoor. Makes me want to start a bonfire. Taste is caramel and pine. Thought it would pair with a peppermint. Nope. I will find something, because this deserves an good pairing.A
4.4 12oz bottle from Shrubber85. Clear amber, lasting tight head. Malty, caramel, pine, dank. This what DIPAs are all about. A real classic
3.9 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep copper color with a medium cream colored head. Aroma of bread malts, toffee, pine and hops. Taste of pine, bread malts hops and grapefruit. A bit overdone.
3.5 Bottle from McCaffery. Pretty strong stuff, massive malting and some piney alcoholic warmth. Very wintery but be ready for that ABV!
4.3 Great beer. Huge flavor on the palate. Hops, touch of sweet malts. Very good
3.8 I can taste cherry cola, compote, molasses, grapefruit, and ginger, with an earthy tingle on the palate. The aroma was a little lighter than expected given all the hops used. One rater I know says this is clearly over the top. That may have been a different batch because this didn't strike me that way. The strong flavor means this is a sipper, but it is an enjoyable one. Bell's delivers again.
4.1 Bottle. Deep amber hue, nice airy head. Drinks with a big, chewy character, dank and earthen, most definitely the resinous, gooey beast you'd expect at 11%. Tread lightly. (#7838, 10/2020)
4.3 On tap at Brick Store pub. Orange appearance Fragrant hop aroma of pine, melon, rind and resin. Forceful caramel malt balances intense hop character. Lots of grapefruit, melon and pine. Creamy palate, notched my glass. Quite a step up from the original Two Hearted, without necessarily maintaining the perfect balance that beer brings. Nevertheless a very good DIPA. Re-rate 8/06. I should have mentioned the obvious comparison here to Dogfish Head 60/90 Minute. I was doubtful at first that doubling up the Two Hearted Ale recipe would have such a nice result, but it is really in a league of its own when it comes to elite caliber DIPAs. Everything you expect from a great DIPA is here in spades. A really delicious beer from Bell's. I think they sought to out-do DFH90 here and in some ways they have. Overall I give it a slightly lower score than that iconic beer, but it packs a hell of a punch and gets the job done.
3.6 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle (bottle on Aust 19, 2020) from shrubber82 poured into a glass. Clear amber with medium white head. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body, medium carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops, caramel malt, and slightly bitter finish. This is how IPAs used to be.
3.8 Darker amber with a white head that lasts. Aroma of citrus, pine, orange, caramel, cedar. Medium bodied, alcohol hidden well, old school east coast style with west coast hops. Two hearted shouldn’t score as high and this shouldn’t score as low, but that’s what the times and standards will do.
4.1 Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Clear, bright orange with a 2-finger ivory head and very good lacing. Aroma of pine, resin, grapefruit, caramel and orange. Taste of resin, heavy caramel, grapefruit , orange, pine and pineapple. Full/medium body and medium/high carbonation.
3.9 10 oz draft pours an orange color with a small whit head. Aromas of pine, resin, harvest citrus. Full bodied, sneaky alcohol content, great mouthfeel, very good.
0.5 Garbanzo beans
3.7 Bottle from Super Buy Rite, PKG 09/03/2020, so not much hope for a burst of freshness. Nose very heavy pine and resin, dark caramel close to toffee. Pour clear orange-amber with a frothy, creamy white head, lace. Full body with strong alcohol presence but no burn or numbing, well, perhaps a touch fuselly; medium-strong sweet and medium-bitter, no tang, very strong caramel throughout, almost too thick; bright slips of citrus here and there to freshen things up, leafy Centennial pine with a half-bottle of perfume, very good malt level and swish for style. Lightly gritty resin throughout but melds nicely with the smooth, earthy bitterness in the finish. Sticky lips! Exactly as advertised. [2020.10.10: 3.7]
3.3 Thin off-white head of fine bubbles. Slightly sweet and tangy aroma with some sweet tarts, model glue, mild malts and some piney hops. A much weaker aroma than I had expected. Dark orange in color with a slight haze. Much stronger malt and hops profile in the flavor. Moderate body with a strong malt backbone, roasted grains, resinous hops, buttery palate and a mild lingering bitterness. Strong alcohol presence which warms the whole way down. Quite the hot brew which mitigates some of the flavor. Finishes mild hoppy bitterness but is not dry. Slicks malts leave a nice coating that lingers. A decent brew but not as good as the regular Two Hearted.
3.8 Pale copper pour with a thin soapy slightly off white head and lots of sticky lacing .... aroma of pine, chewy caramel malts, resinous, citrusy grapefruit and orange .... taste has big time malts, chewy caramel malts, resinous and rindy grapefruit, orange, and piney .... spicy bitter bite on the back end and into the finish .... you get malt and sugar into the finish as well .... finish is dry, bitter, malty and has lingering caramel malts and grapefruit with pine .... man this brings back good memories of dbl ipas when west coast ipas were mainstream! Not this lactose crap they have now.
3.4 Lightly cloudy deep copper hue with a foamy ivory head. Rich copper malty toasty aroma with bright orange peel bitterness and a little pine. Flavor is bold and rich with toasty copper malty tones, bitter earthy grapefruity orange peel, a light bit of piney dank, and a bitter boozy finish.
4.5 Bottle. Hazy reddish orange color. Beige frothy head. Sweet aroma, sugar and bread. Resin hops, citrus. Bright. Flavor is hoppy, bright citrus and resin. Pine, fairly bitter. Some sweet character. Alcohol warmth on the finish. Bitterness lingers. Very nice!
