Bell's Kalamazoo Stout

Bell's Kalamazoo Stout

Named after the city where it all began, Kalamazoo Stout is one of our most classic recipes. This smooth, full-bodied stout offers a blend of aromas and flavors of dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee, balanced with a significant hop presence.

4.4 Found out of bottle from BP in Sylva, North Carolina. Pours a thick black with tan foam. Pleasant aroma. Amazingly delicious.
3.9 12 oz bottle from the Lewiston Tops Market. Pours a nearly black colour with modest-sized light tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is dark coffee with some dark chocolate notes and a hint of licorice. Flavour is really dark with coffee, hints of smoke, dark chocolate and a little licorice. Fine carbonation. Silky mouthfeel. Impressive.
3.3 Guinness without the creamer. First pure stout I ever tasted. Has thick coffee like taste. Very acidic and a little bitter.
3.4 Bottles from Highland 9-26-15
3.7 pite jakiś czas temu. uzupełnienie profilu. Ocena przepisana z utpd. Miłego dnia.
4.1 (Bottle) Dark brown/black body with a big brown head. Chocolate aroma with a some coffee. Light, creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with noticeable chocolate and, especially in the finish, coffee; very smooth, very drinkable.
3.6 Pours black and oily with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste has dark roasted notes with light hints of licorice. Palate has nutty notes layered on top of the roasted malt. Pretty good.
4.1 Bottle. Black. Creamy brown head. Roast, dark chocolate, dry creamy, full body, well balanced, quite drinkable, dark chocolate aftertaste.
3.7 Bottle (12oz). Black with nearly no head. Low carbonation and quite creamy. Aroma is of roasted malts. Taste is Smokey. There is a little bitter sweet chocolate too. The bottle was dated 1 year and 3 months ago even though I bought it a few days ago. Very good, but would it be better fresh?
4.0 12 oz. bottle pours a very dark brown (nearly black) with a thin head of light brown foam that dissipates quickly. The aroma is very malty and roasty. The mouthfeel is dry with a below average amount of carbonation that somehow maintains a fairly creamy mouthfeel. The taste is sweet fading to a lasting hop bitterness with flavors of malts, dark chocolate, coffee (including a bit of the coffee acid), and earthy hops. Overall, this is a delicious and complex stout.
3.9 Bottle from total wine, Worcester Ma. Pours with a big head. Aroma: chocolate, coffee roast, immediate impression of hops. Taste: chocolate milk, light coffee roast, resinous hops, yeasty creamyness, maybe faint hints of lactose but definately not any sticky licorice I was fearing for after reading the label. Very grainy but otherwise rather thin MF. The hops and roast work surprisingly well together here, excellent stout!
4.0 12oz bottle. Pours black with a fluffy dark tan head. Dark chocolate, prune, fig, espresso, little earthy, little red berry stuff. Medium body. Good.
3.7 12 oz. bottle. Pours an intense dark brown with a thin dense tan head that is gone quickly. Big malty and toast scents. Malty sweet with a distinct bitter bite to finish. A low carbonation and dry mouthfeel. Solid stout.
3.9 Bottle at home. Black with short lived head. Deep roasted malts, big sweet licorice, burnt, almost like burnt car tyres, black ink and dried black seaweed. Big sweet and bitter, some umami chewiness and a tiny pinch of salt. Over medium body and low carbonation. This sweet and sticky burnt-the-hell-out-of stuff cannot be healthy but it’s pretty damn tasty.
3.9 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a dark brown to black with a tan head and lacing. The aroma is coffee, chocolate, and licorice. The taste is the same with some hops. There's a nice bitterness coffee and hop bitterness. There's also a subtle sweetness. It's smooth and slightly creamy. This is a tasty and well-balanced stout.
3.7 Pint at Winking Lizard Peninsula Ohio/ Draft/ Not much head and super Dark brown in color. Taste the malt and very smooth. Malty after taste. Medium bodied and very drinkable. Cheers!
3.8 Review is of 2 year old bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a 1/4th inch head that is chocolate milk colored. Lacing is average and head retention is above average. Aroma is big on chocolate and black malt. Also getting a bit of lactose even though I dont believe there is any. Hops arent really present and neither is alcohol. As beer warms up, I get the brewers licorice and charred malts become pronounced. Taste is big on burnt malts. Guessing the recipe was heavy on black malt. Getting some chalky walnut/candied pecans, maybe licorice has something to do with it. Beer finishes dry and light on the alcohol. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side. Head retention didnt really last long enough to impact palate. Detected some astringency on the finish. Overall it was a solid beer. Past its prime age wise so I wont hold that against it. Not my favorite standard stout but worth a try.
3.9 Black with thin creamy head. Aroma and flavour have some sweet chocolate and creamy coffee. Smooth and oily texture.
4.0 Chocolate and hops for the aroma. Dark brown to black in color with a creamy light brown head. Taste is roasty, creamy, bitter chocolate, hops, oatmeal, dry finish. Velvetty carbonation.
4.3 Pours dark black with nice tan head and lacing. Thick body, very smooth, notes of dark roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate with a little smokiness. Nicely bitter. This is very easy to drink; it’s an excellent stout.
3.5 (µ-fumé-mûre-fleur, café, ~oily (~harviestoun), but liquide, ~café, µ-réglisse (ad), no déchaîne-foule, douce-~hop, h2o)
4.4 An excellent classic stout. Pours inky black with small tan head. Nose is candy sweet coffee, malt and chocolate. Taste is a wide full bore malty richness of coffee and bitter chocolate. A hint of anise. Long dry finish. Not to much alcohol. YUM!
4.1 An old bottle from Sip (back label has a date of 5/18/16 which is either a BB date or date of bottling). Dark body, medium tall dense tan head. Looks great. Aroma has plenty of cocoa and roasy malts. Full-bodied, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Pleasantly hoppy and deeply roasty taste. Finish has cocoa beans. Somehow shows no signs of age but I haven't had a fresh one so I can't really compare. I guess a fresh bottle has more fresh hop features. Either way, it's a great stout and worth of the 100/100 score here.
4.0 Bottle. Color: Black, thin beige head. Aroma: Pretty sweet roasted malt, chocolate. Taste: Sweetish roasted malt, dark red fruity and lightly sour coffee bean, sweetish chocolate, hints of liquorice. Bittery sweet finish. Laurel hints. Medium to over medium body, below average carbonation. Bit oily mouthfeel. Nice fruity Stout.

4.1 Apparence brune chocolat noir, sirupeuse, petit col chatouillant, avec un soupçon de dentelle prolongé, nez vanillé, malté; goût chocolaté, vanillé, malté, houblonné. Long en bouche. Un pur délice.
4.7 Pours with a 2finger tan collar.aroma is quite good. Taste is great, maybe just a tad too much coffee for me. Great finish
3.6 12oz bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is roast, coffee, some chocolate, and a touch of licorice. Taste is similar - big roast and coffee with dark chocolate and just a little licorice sweetness. Semi-sweet. Roasty bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Inky mouthfeel.
4.4 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 6/04/2018. Deep dark brown to black pour with a long lasting, soft tan head. Lacing. The aroma brings out a roasted dark sweet malt base and perhaps something with more of a bite like black licorice. A char character too. The body is smooth and medium to full. The taste has the same sweet dark roasted malt character but everything is balanced. A moderate dry hop finale. This deserves the higher ratings it gets.
