Bell's Oatsmobile Ale

Bell's Oatsmobile Ale

Aromatic. Approachable. Unique. Intriguing. Happy-go-lucky. Full-bodied. And we’re not just talking about the horse.

This hop-forward session American Pale Ale uses a blend of classic and modern Pacific Northwest hops, including Mosaic, Ekuanot™ (formerly Equinox) and Glacier, for a pungent blend of peach, mango and tropical aromas. The signature ingredient - oats - are what makes Oatsmobile Ale stand apart, and gives it a body that you don’t see in most other sessionable pale ales.

3.4 Solid for what it is- a session pale ale. Not much distinction either way. I wish I could find it in cans, because it would be a great canoe beer. Inoffensive tending toward good.
3.6 12 oz. bottle. Pale gold, creamy white head. Strong carbonation. Aroma of caramel, tropical fruit. Taste is tropical fruits, peach, caramel, faint pine. Oats give this a heavier, creamier body than expected. Interesting.
2.9 12 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured a moderately hazy light brown/orange color, no head or evidence of one. Very light carbonation, aroma of cheap oatmeal and bread. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt is found rather easily but the entire beer is very one dimension, no distinct sensations stand out. Just another tick.
2.5 Slightly hazy golden brew with fast fading head. Smells of citrus and something not quite right. Taste is lots of citrus hops with some flavors of mango hiding in the back ground. Decent brew and very easy to chug. It is such a wimpy brew I would have to chug many of them to ever realize that it was beer and not just flavored water. Thankfully I only have 6 of them then I can go on to a mans beer.
3.3 Pours a hazy golden yellow color with some sediment chunks floating throughout. The aroma is floral hops, some white bread crust, and oats. The flavor is floral hops up front but the oats are noticeable in there as well. There is a hop kick at the back end but its not overbearing and is quite mellow for a session ale.
3.5 $9 for a six-pack of these 12floz beers with a BOD of 01.17.2017. Appears a rich gold and possesses a sticky white head. Aroma is mild with notes of light grains and citrus zest. Flavor and mouthfeel is light, crisp, and mildly astringent. It’s good that this beer is meant to be sessionable, since if hop bitterness was higher it would come off as harsh. Instead it’s a well crafted beer for easy drinking purposes.
3.8 On tap in Greenville SC in a Gouden Carolus glass. Clear golden-amber body with a large, off-white head. Aroma: hops, caramel, more caramel, faint ripe fruits. Flavor: largely follows the aroma. Mildly bitter balance but with lots of caramel. Feel: the body is medium-light; medium+ carbonation. Overall: caramel hops.
2.7 Bottle. Lightly hazy yellow pour with a white head. Malty and metallic, mild tropical fruit. Meh.
3.4 Bue à la pression. Blonde APA classique. Malt doux, houblon léger (exotique), levure typique. Ensemble pas mal, dans la moyenne
3.4 Bottle. Hazy golden pour, with a white head. Grain, fruity, citrus, some bitterness, and bread. Medium smooth body. Pretty nice.
3.5 I love that smooth/slick oat-driven texture. Tastes pretty good too with grapefruit and tropicals.
3.5 Slightly pungent, almost skunky hops, over riped fruit, grapefruit past its prime aroma. Flavor has a bit more malt balance to it, the pungency found in the aroma doesn’t carry over leaving some citrus rind to compete with the malts.
3.1 Draft. Dark gold in colour with medium carbonation. Mild aromas of white grapefruit peel and light malts. Fairly grainy on the palate with faint grapefruit pith and chalk notes. Light bodied with moderate bitterness. Decent, but underwhelming in terms of overall hoppiness. I didn’t perceive much in the way of oats.
2.9 Bottled 355ml. -Clear golden coloured, small white head, some odd vegetables in the nose. Sweetish malty, light caramel, notes of fruits and some citrus with again that vegetables presence. Strong carbonation. Bad bottle, bad batch or something else.
3.7 12 ounce bottle. Deep honey gold color. Small pillowy beige head has staying power. Earthy toasted malt nose. Notes of toast and Demerara sugar. Toasted grain notes upfront. Earthy oats in middle. Silky mouthfeel with medium body. Pleasant subtle spicy hops in finish lend a nice balance. Nicely done.
3.3 Bottle in trade. Not my style of brew but we’ll executed. Aroma had a few things including floral. Palate was heavy due to oats. Balanced taste ending with hops and slight bitterness. We’ll executed.
3.3 On draft at Brew and Brew. Pours hazy orange with a thick off-white head. Rolled oats and fresh squeezed lemon. Creamy mouthfeel average carbonation. Mild bitter finish.
3.3 (Draught) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus, herbs, oats, florals, caramel, and stone fruit. Flavor of grapefruit, grass, herbs, pine, peach, herbs, and toasted oats.
3.7 Draft at Cottonwood - Pours a light gold. Finely bubbled white head with heavy lace. Aroma is maltier than it is hoppy, but the tropicals blend nicely with the oats. Oats are prevalent on the tongue, especially towards the finish...lingering oat-grain finish with a nice bitterness. Good.
3.3 Tap at Kool Keg. Clear light gold color. White bubbly head. Moderate hoppy aroma. Soft floral hops, soap. Light grain. Flavor is more herbal than floral. Big grainy backbone. Oat flavor can be found but on the backend and low. Finishes fairly dry, almost woody.
3.4 Pours the color of honey, quick head, little lace. Nose is floral. Bitter. Middle is apricots, soft oats, medium bodied malt. Finish is zesty hops and steady bitterness. Surprising body for the ABV.
4.5 I was gonna go home and smash my fingers with a hammer but frankly, this delicious delicious beer has made that all but a dream!
2.8 Huge head...Smells a bit like an IPA but sweet...Taste is a little soapy...And watery...Light on malt and hops...Some light bitterness on the finish but mild overall...With claire over at the house
3.3 355ml bottle while watching The Pianist. Pours clear gold with minimal white head. Aroma is lightly sweet malts, light citrus. Taste has semi-sweet caramel malts, smooth oat influence with soft fruits emerging slowly. Expected more of a hop-forward character to be honest.
3.5 Bottle 355ml @ home Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, peach, orange and hint of tropical fruits. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long smooth, citrus, grapefruit, orange and tropical finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.3 B. Pours a clear golden color with white head. Hoppy with full body. Not bitter
3.5 Bottle. Light to moderate roasted grain for the malt, light pine for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, with a hint of coriander in the background. Head is average sized, frothy, slightly off-white, with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color hazy medium - dark amber. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, slick, with a lively carbonation and a dry finish. A pretty good Pale Ale, but a little one dimensional.
3.3 I like that this beer has a nice sweetness to it, reminiscent of honey, but it’s also strangely weak. It’s smooth, sure, and not difficult to drink, but it feels very flat. It just doesn’t bring much after the initial taste.
3.4 Tasted on tap at the 2017 UCBC Wolpertinger Fest in a fancy footed sampler glass. It poured a clear golden colour with no head. Aroma was coarse and almost catty, but the flavour was much better: grainy, bready, hint of caramel-sweetness, with a great creamy oatmeal mouthfeel, grapefruity, dank resiny. Light body, high carbonation, bone dry finish. Other than the initial off-putting aroma, this was a very enjoyable session ale.
2.9 Bottle. Pours golden, hazy, frothy head. Aroma of malts, citrus, tropical fruits. Taste of grain, pepper, citrus, quite watery overall.
