Bell's Quinannan Falls Special Lager

Bell's Quinannan Falls Special Lager

Born in a dream, Quinannan Falls Special Lager Beer refers to a mythical place in the boreal north. While the waterfall may exist solely in Larry Bell’s imagination, the beer he remembered drinking there is now quite real. Quinannan Falls possesses the crisp, dry bitterness you’d expect from a German pilsner, but the use of highly aromatic hops from the Pacific Northwest in both the kettle & dry-hop evokes the fragrant pine forests that inspired this beer.

3.2 12 oz. can. Pours a pale yellow color. Clear. White head. Aroma of fruit, lager, yeast. Taste is fruit, citrus notes, yeast, light malt, a hint of lemon.
4.4 Gold, with white head. Smell is floral grassy crisp hops. Quite aromatic. Taste, crisp, hoppy clean, dry pilsner malt. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Surprisingly good. Kind of like Austin Beerworks pearl snap pilsner.
3.1 12floz can, COD: 06.08.2017, purchased a six-pack for the sale price $5 (I've had before from bottle and draft). Poured into a pint glass, gold and and off-white head leaves splotches on the glass. The nose has a funky scent. Funky as in mildew and lemon, but not has accentuated as some American hopped "pilsners" I've had. A pretty easy drinking beer that is thin on malts. Moderate bitterness of citrus rinds is most noticeable flavor. I recall this being better when I had it from draft, oh well I'll consider it under certain circumstances in the future.
3.0 Clear pale yellow, soapy head, webbed lacing. Candy, not really feeling the pine notes, smooth up front, bitter finish. $9.99/multi six pack 12oz can at Binny's, River Forest, IL
3.5 Smell of hop dominated, with pine and malt. Come in pale yellow with medium white crown. Taste of refreshing dry hop, bitterness of IPA in lager style. Just right texture. Above average beer. Smell very good.
2.8 Too much of a metallic bitterness for me. Probably the hoppiest lager I have ever had
2.7 Aroma offers resiny hop, yeasty and raw malt notes. It pours clear topaz with a thick eggshell head. Mouthfeel presents raw malt, resiny hops and crisp apple tones, a little bit bitter, indeed like the love child of a typical American lager and an IPA. Mouthfeel presents fairly firm and smooth body, not a lot of fizz. Fall for it.
3.6 Draft. Straw yellow in colour with strong carbonation. Aromas of grassy hop, pilsner malt, and faint conifer brush. Flavors are a mix of minerals, crusty white bread, hay, and very faint stone fruit. Light bodied and crisp considering the alcohol content. Tasty stuff.
3.4 Crisp lager. Full flavored and good body. Has some of the lagerish funk but it is balanced well by the dry hops. Light and refreshing but flavorful. Balanced lager with good flavors. I generally do not like lagers, but this is one of the better ones for sure.
3.8 12 ounce can poured into shaker from a 12 pack poured a transparent white yellow straw color three finger white foamy head formed no lacing upon the vessel, Hit's the mouth with a loght body hops present tasty. beats the other 117 beers or so-called beers that I had a choice to purchase.
3.5 Draft pour. The beer is a clear yellow with a white head of foam. Dough and earthy, spicy citrus aroma. Sweet and earthy taste. Medium body and medium carbonation. Alright overall.
3.6 Can from Wegman's. Clear pale yellow with medium body. Citrus nose, bready taste and resin finish.
3.8 Light yellow pour, strapping white head with hints of lace. Nose is pils malt and pine. Bitter. Middle is soft malt, cracker, resiny hops. Finish is dry and bitter.
3.5 Crisp saaz hop aroma with hints of pine sap. The body is a pale yellow, the cap is very thin but leaves some spotty lacing. Mouthfeel is thin and crisp from the carbonation. Flavor is grassy hops with touches of alcohol on the back side.
3.8 From a can purchased at liquor store: Pale yellow hue with light lacey head and a soft pine nose. Crisp carbonation. Taste is of pine and lemongrass with a crisp clean slightly bitter finish. I have only had 3 or 4 IPL’s, but if they are single hopped (this one uses Simcoe), I think the crisp taste can really accentuate the hop flavor and enhance the beer’s lager taste.
3.3 Draft at Rattle ’n’ Hum West, New York. Pours pale gold with a small white head. Aroma of banana, pineapple, light citrus and hop. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.
3.1 Draft - pours gold with white head - nose and taste of pine, earthy malt and lemon - medium body
4.0 On tap at Maxi’s Lineup. Clear golden. Smells a little bready with some resiny hops. Tastes resiny right off the bat. Bready and doughy malt flavor. Strong Pilsner malt profile. Pine hop bitterness. Medium body. Delicately hopped to show off a great malt profile, but just enough to be an IPL.
3.6 12oz can at home. Pours clear straw colored with a pillowy, persistent white head a good lacing. Citrus and grain nose. Flavors lean toward citrus, pale malt, wheat. Smooth texture. Slightly bitter finish, nice.
3.3 some light saaz like hops aroma. golden pour with ok head. crisp finish. can.
3.8 Draft at Thirsty Monk. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Has some nice grass and lemon notes on the nose. Crisp and clean on the tongue with some solid bitterness on the finish.
3.4 Pours clear straw colored with white pillowy head. Aroma is light yeast ester. Flavor is light and smooth with mild citrus and a touch of malt backbone. Not a lot going on but all flavors are in good harmony.
3.9 Pours light yellow and translucent. Tastes of mildly bitter hops. It’s light bodied with lively carbonation up front.
3.2 Decent hopped-up lager, with mild esters offset by a deep, lingering pine bitterness and hints of citrus. Apple-tinged semisweet middle is nice, but the hops seem somewhat overpowering, growing medicinal against the moderate lager notes. Pretty golden pour with a frothy white head and nice lacing. Nose is pinecone hops and lager yeast. Sparkly texture works for the style. Okay.
3.4 It pours straw and is very clear. It has a white head that has moderate head retention. It has a balance in the aroma of grain and herbs. There are background notes of bread and earthly elements. It has flavors of grain, bread, herbs, and some earthen elements. The balance between the malt and hops is nearly even. It is very clean other all. It has a moderate body with a dry finish. Overall, it is a well balance lager that is clean and crisp with a dry finish.
3.3 A bitter, full and rich lager. Aromas of hay and hops, with a fine head and a great, crisp aroma. Some light malt and caramel, and more fresh-cut grass and lemon and orange slices. Pine hops on the palate are a light touch. This beer is drinkable, no matter how full and promising it is on the nose.
3.5 Hazy golden yellow with a modest bright white head and decent lace. Bright citrusy aromas with hints of grainy malt. Lemon, orange and wheat up front with spices and a solid honey-flavored malt backbone. Light body, soft mouthfeel, bright effervescence and a clean finish.
2.2 Can from AJ’s Beer Warehouse. Aroma of hay, cereal, and yeast. I’m not big on lagers, so this wasn’t for me.
3.2 Can from Wegman’s. Pours clear pale yellow with moderate foam that fades. Aroma is cereal grains, pilsner malt, fresh cut grass, and mild lime. Taste is similar with mild hay and a mild earthy notes.
3.2 Tap at the source. Pours pale yellow, white head. Aroma is sweat socks, corn, lemon. Flavor is lemon, pils malt, oats, really light. A great summer beer.
