Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

3.8From a bottle to a glass. Pours a dark brown color with a medium frothy tan head. Aroma is Mocha, roasted malts, slight coffee. Taste follows the aroma with a slight generic hop note in the sip. Its a bit on the thin watery side. Could use some more sweetness and maltiness. Medium mouthfeel. Its just average nothing spectacular.
4.2A smooth and hearty cream stout. Not overly sweet but enough to get the point across. Well done Bell’s!
3.9Dark brown color with a nice mocoa color head. Chocolate and espresso aroma. Sweet taste.
4.1Aroma is roasted malts. Picking up slight sweetness. The brewer says this beer is "completely dairy-free", but the aroma suggests otherwise. Very nice.
Deep black appearance, topped with a tall, thick, dark tan head. The head has very good retention, taking its sweet time receding. As it does, it leaves tan rings of lacing and forms a thick domed top.
Taste is coffee, roasted malts, cocoa, a subtle lactose-like sweetness, with a balancing touch of bittering in the finish.
Mouth feel is creamy while also being on the thin side of moderate.
Finish is dryer than the initial taste would lead you to expect, with the roastiness lingering on the tongue.
This is a classic English stout at its heart, which has the creaminess and smoothness of a milk stout. Extremely well executed.

4.0Big chocolate aroma and sweet, full-bodied taste make this stout a beverage that's just shy of a chocolate shake. Just a shade of bitterness on the finish, but only after allowing it to set out for a good half hour. Enjoyed on tap with a big honkin' burger.
3.6Very creamy, with a nice appearance. This would work as a beer float and also with desserts. Otherwise, it's just too sweet for my palate.
3.5Pours black with a thick cream head. Aroma of toasted malt. Taste has roasted malt, chocolate and rich creamy elements. Palate continues the creaminess with a nice nutty finish. Great.
3.8Draft. Pours a medium, well retained, tan head, with slight lacing, over a clear dark brown (SRM 40) body......nose is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate, caramel tones, slight coffee, minimal hops......taste is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate, mild sweet with caramel tones, slight herbal notes, mild hop bitter finish......mouth feel medium body, slight alcohol, moderate carbonation. This meets the sweet Stout style nicely and is drinkable.
3.9Deep dark brown with a foamy light khaki head. Nice semisweet nose that’s gently creamy and a little chocolaty. Smooth lightly creamy flavor with a hint of custard and some chocolaty dark malt. Light lingering cocoa creamy sweetness.
3.8Subdued, with flares of excitement, like a newsreader trying to withhold laughter while presenting a serious story involving a person with a hilarious name.
3.8Excellent beer. Very smooth but not overly sweet. Dessert-like with big chocolate notes.
3.0I was disappointed with this stout. The flavor was not what a cream stout should be. I have had cream stouts before. And I bought a 6 pack. It has been a struggle to get through this one. Too bad!
0.0Smooth, creamy and delicious with a distinct, yet subtle expresso and mocha taste. An excellent cream stout!
4.1Black with decent head and the aroma of roasted malt. Taste is mild chocolate, cocoa, and a fair amount of roasted malts.
3.6Had this a few times now and usually enjoy sweet stouts, however I'm not able to find much sweetness in this one. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is the nicest aspect here with rich cocoa and roasty notes. Flavor is more bitter than expected with heavily roasted, almost burnt tones combining with a tang of astringency. Body is strangely watery for the strong flavors that dominate this one. Finish is dry and bitter.
4.2Bottle, 2018 vintage. Rich chocolate malt aroma with notes of roasted malt, lactose sugar and some coffee. Pours black with a large mocha brown head that has excellent retention and decent lacing. Starts with sweet chocolate malt and some roasted malt flavors as well as having a silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with lactose sugar sweetness and some coffee flavors. Excellent sweet stout.
4.3Pours black, brown head. Rich roast malt espresso hints of cocoa hints of dark fruit. Taste is sweet dark chocolate, vanilla. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Nice like fine chocolate candy with espresso added.
4.1Draft taster pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Appearance is dark brown/black with no discernible sparkle and a massive head poured out to finger-width, tons of lacing. Aroma is nice rich roasted malt, subtle dark fruit and dark chocolate, lactose. Taste is milky, creamy roasted malt, dark fruit, slight hints of chocolate. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not quite world class but solid all around. Hard to complain.
3.7Pours dark brownish black with a foamy creamy head that just seems to stay around for some time. Aromas of roast, toast, olive, toffee, slight caramel, nutty. Flavors, nut, roast, toast, olive, toffee, slight wood. Lightly sweety with a slight smoked malt aftertaste. Quite a complex malt profile. A bit on the scottish ale side.
4.2Poured from bottle
AROMA - cocoa, malt, coffee
APPEARANCE - stout black, lacing
TASTE - milk chocolate, malt, toffee, nut, licorice
PALATE - smooth, full
OVERALL - I would buy again
3.9Opaque brown, tall bubbles.
Full body, mildly flavored, slightly smooth pleasant heat and carbonation, short length.
Average dry, crisp, moderately bitter, no evidence of sweetness or creamy, good balance.
Roast flavors, coffee, very good balance.
Not very interesting but decent.

3.812 oz bottle from Whole Foods. Dark brown with medium body. Roasted grain aroma, bittersweet chocolate taste with coffee and malt finish.
3.9Nice aromas of rich roasted malt, vanilla, coffee, and some sweet molasses. Silky ebony color with a thick tan head. Sweet roasted malt up front. Hints of coffee, dark chocolate, and smoke. Bitterness is dry and balances sweetness with a bitter dark chocolate tone. Mouthfeel is on the slick side but has decent carbonation also. Balanced finish. Very good.
4.1On tap at Dark Horse celebrating a special engagement. Goblet pour. Dark black with quarter finger tan. Aroma is really hearty coffee with vanilla notes. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Taste has coffee and chocolate characteristics with an emphasis on roasty, nutty qualities. Not overly bitter. Slight sweetness towards the end. Definitely a delicious stout. Bell's is successful.
3.8Roasty malty goodness.
4.0Pours a very dark brown color. Two fingers brown head. Reduces quickly, rock film remains. Good lacing.
Aroma is roasted malt. Chocolate, cream.
Taste is chocolate, cream. Sweet.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Creamy and velvety. In and down so easy. A touch of bitterness, sort of like espresso, coming in at the very end.
Overall it's great. I would recommend it and would buy it again.
