In fact, it has been proclaimed as "the only properly hopped beer in America".

3.4Bottle from Super Saver, Somerville, NJ. I didn’t know this was retired. It pours a semi-hazy deep golden color with a 1-finger new-fallen-snow head. The aroma os bready malty and hopcitric, with some tropical fruit hints. The palate is medium density, with flavors of bready malt, subdued hops, citrus, and tropical fruit. I liked this one enough to revisit it later, which will be done on Monday.
3.0from the bottle. poured a honey color with a off white head that did not last and no lacing. aroma musty, hops, yeast, some sourness, and a touch of sweetness. flavor weak hops, with just a hint of malts, sugar, grassy and musty. I guess I must of gotten a decent bottle the flavor were not all that bad not great but not that bad.
2.5(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear pilsener golden with a small, creamy, off-white head. Some caramel in the nose, but surprisingly little aromatic fruitiness from the hops. Medium body with some caramel sweetness. Quite some bitterness in the finish, but - again - surprisingly little fruit from the Galena and Cascade aroma hops. Not horrible, simply just bland and disappointing. Bought a sixer of this in OK City just two days ago, so I suppose it’s far from retired. 230306
1.8this beer looks horrible. light golden with a small white head that doesnt last. smells like a decently hopped european lager. flavor is very weak. tastes like a watered down amber. a hint of malt and a hint of hops. weak watery and fizzy. amost no hop flavor on the finish. horrible ipa.
2.7Pale yellow color with a small white head. Light aroma of caramel and pine. Somewhat sweet buttery caramel with a pretty strong dose of spicey, piney hops. A pretty straight-forward IPA.
3.2A very competent offering, this ale pours a bit on the hazey side, giving up citrus/floral aroma. The malt tastes of summer hay. Hops are strong but not overpowering in the finish. A good example to be enjoyed moderately...not one to gulp!
2.7Not bad IPA consdiering its age is maybe like 2 years old. It still comes across tasty and flavorful with decent amount og hops although they have somewhat have faded. A low level of metallic finish and the biterness that used to be has begun to weaken. Poured a slightly cloudy golden with foamy head. Aroma is was fair and could barely detect the left over hop.
2.4Gold-amber in colour pour. somewhat dismal clarity. Mild in hops, apricots, some bitter grapfruit. Nose is grapefruit and flowery hops. Strong, but not well balanced in my opinion
2.7The aroma is a deep floral. The color is golden with a white head and lacing. The bitterness of the hops dominates but light on the palate. The finish is soft and barely perceptible.
2.8The aroma is real good. It has a grass and herbal smell from the hops. The malt is hay like. The appearance is golden with a medium head. The flavor is like the aroma, it’s well hopped. It also has a nutty taste. The palate is average. Not great but better than expected.
3.2Pours a nice deep amber color. Aromas of hops/hops/citrus. Strong hop flavors with malts and a nice finish
3.3This bottled brew bottled on 5/07/03 poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and yellow orange in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild hops and apricots. Its mouth feel is tingly and bubbly with a lingering palate and a hoppy aftertaste. Its flavor contained strong hop and mild caramel notes.
2.6Clear golden, fluffy off-white head. Mild and fresh aroma of hop, grass and bread. Thin hoppy flavor with a watery mouthfeel. Dry. Uninteresting.
2.2[bottle - 12 oz] Slightly hazy yellow. No head. Not a lot of carbonation. Sour and bitter aroma of grains, hops and some metal. Extremely brief sweetness at the beginning then quickly goes to a sour and bitter hoppyness with a very unpleasant and sour finish. Very light on the palate.
2.812 oz bottle pours golden with a short white head. Aromas of sour hops and light grains. Flavor starts with some brief caramel malts and a grainy flavor and finishes with an odd sour hop flavor. A bit of citrus but not a normal IPA kind of hop. Palate is light and fairly airy. Drinkable but not what I look for in an IPA.
2.2Bottle: Aroma has slight hints of sweetness with lighter hints of sour citrus hops. Pours a transparent gold with a small white head. Light caramel sweetness up front with some really funky stale hops in the finish. "The only properly hopped beer in America?" Where do advertisers come up with the stuff?
2.3This tastes like they took an average pale ale and subtracted the malt, and said "hey, taste all those hops?" Well yeah, but not for the right reasons.
2.7An orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet metallic and alcoholic, with only a whisp of hops. The flavor is sweet malty with light hoppy notes, and a carbonation that prickles the tongue.
2.6Light hoppy nose, with a weird cardboardy maltyness. Clear pale yellow body, with a small white head. Flavor starts out bitter then ends oin a vague maltyness.
2.4Bottled: Light yellow coloured. Clear. Off white head. Aroma of hops, grape, some sweetness. Flavour is herbal and hoppy. Ends on a light bitter dry note. Quite thin bodied. .
2.5Pours coppery with a modest white head. Smells of graprfruit and roses. Tastes a bit sweet for an IPA with some caramelly undertones. Watery but drinkable.
2.5This is another IPA that people should start with if they never had an IPA. A medium beer, with average hops and malt. Not bad but not great
2.5This was a dissappointment for an IPA. Weak on hops , but not as bad as swill.
3.5OCT 22nd 2006 Re-rate:
Kinda watery, hop tea aroma to it with some sweet malty notes. Body is a clear gold and holds a creamy, diminishing white head. watery fore is followed by caramel malts and some midl to medium hop bitterness. The sweet caramel notes run allt he way through and I find them inviting. simple, but enjoyable and at session strength.
Original rating:
Had a decent hop aroma. Pale yellow. Small head. A mite thin, but a tasty beer with a nice malt base underneath the well balanced hop flavor. I thought it was ok.
2.5Clear golden yellow beer with no head. Hoppy nose. Flavor was unexciting. Watery, hoppy and bitter with a pale malt in the background. A little better toward the end. Another reminder of why I am not a fan of IPA’s
2.9Golden color, light head, some lacing. Nose is malty, light hops and some herbal thmye tastes. Watery flavor, a bit of dog. Not very thought provoking. The finish is old, some body, eh.
3.1Floral aroma for this beer and sad of an IPA is that was the most noticable thing about it. Copper color with no head. Flavor was flat and watery. Didn’t have that crisp hop bite. Disappointed. Rerate: had another in the frige. Had it with some pizza had more flavor hoppynees to it. This one didn’t taste like water.
3.1Dark amber color with a fruity amlt aroma. Very light flavor with almost no hops bitterness for an IPA. Thin and watery with a sour berry malt finish. Quite a poor IPA.
3.6Floral hop nose with some hay, pale gold-straw color, foamy head. Light honeyish malt, some pear, then a dainty broad hop bitter that builds on itself through the glass. Reserved and very light. A good PA - I’d almost take the "Imperial" out of the name. Overall there was something in the beer that did it for me.
3.1Golden color, small bubbly head, tiny bubbles raising up. Hoppy nose -in a way of wet hay and wet cardboard - not unpleasant. Light bitter grassy taste like bitter green pepper skin. Round but not to overly exciting.
