Bevog Ond Smoked Porter

Bevog Ond Smoked Porter

Ond shows our love for smoked and dark beers. Strength-wise, it belongs to robust porters, which means it has a slightly higher alcohol level and a medium body. The smoked character is incorporated into the entire beer and does not obscure the combination of roasted malts that give it a chocolaty and caramely character. To top it all off, we have added a carefully selected combination of Slovene and American hops that together, in the form of a slightly herbal woody note, conclude the complexity of Ond.

3.9 Pours a pitch-black coloration with a large, creamy, lasting head. Smells of quite roasted, smoked malt and coffee, with lighter chocolate and hints of herbal hops. Taste is an excellent balance of roasted, smoked, slightly caramelly malt and hints of bitter, herbal, slightly floral hops, with notes of coffee, chocolate and hints of tobacco and licorice. Finishes bittersweet, with a light/medium bitterness and some roasted malt, coffee and herbal hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. A very nice Smoked Porter with a lovely balance of quite roasted and smoked malts, as well as some floral, herbal hops lending a certain earthy quality to this, with the coffee, chocolate, tobacco and licorice notes integrating very well into this flavor profile, making for a very enjoyable brew that's rather roasted, dry and bitter in character, with a good smokiness and light sweetness as well.
3.8 330ml bottle from UJH. Pours dark brown colour, big beige head stays. Aroma is smoky, malty, roasty. Taste is malty, smoky, roasty, ashy, dry. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. Medium body, average carbonation. Good hoppy smoked beer!
3.6 Black color with brown-beige foam. Moderate to heavy aroma of cocoa, smoked and roasted malt. Moderated plus flavor, of smoked and balanced with sweet chocolate. Bitterness is moderated too with average duration. Medium to full body with oily mouthfeel and a soft touch of carbonation.
3.8 Really dark brown, opalescent, big chocolate brown head. Smoked aroma, toasted malts, really smoky in fragrance. Full-bodied and malty yet smoky and aftertaste is bitter. Kind of a watery effect in the palate.
3.4 Bottle. Deep amber color with a medium sized frothy beige head. Aroma of peat. Roasty, sweet taste. Medium to full body.
3.9 Bottle. A- Smoke. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Smoke, oak, mild umami, subtle coffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Loved this. Have really enjoyed the Bevog offerings that I've tasted and wish I could find them in the US. Pretty smoke forward with a hint of bitterness.
3.8 330ml bottle in 2015. Black with a tan head. Aroma of smoked malt, leather, woodchips, coffee and light spice. Decent body. Some smokiness in the flavour with roasted malts and earthy notes.
3.7 Bark brown-black color with big durable beige head. Smoked, coffee, chocolate, roasted, wood aroma. Smoky, chocolate, coffee, roasted, earthy flavor. Roasted- and smoked malt, with hints of chocolate palate, medium body.
3.6 Dark brown colour with rich beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, wood, peat. Aroma stronger than taste, which is mostly roasted malts, hop bitter, slightly watery. Very drinkable.
Droge afdronk. M: Medium body en medium carbonatie.
3.9 Pours (330 mL bottle, home) a dark brown, almost no head. Nose is sweet lactose, chocolate, vanilla, light peat and bonfire smoke. Medium-low carbonation, medium-thin body, some creaminess. Flavours include dry smoked malts, some pleasant sweet cured meatiness, perhaps plum and stewed fruit. Finish is smokey, light bitter hops, grassy. Excellent smoked porter.
3.8 V sokolovni. Krasna udena slaninkpva vona. Kavova farba bez peny.
3.9 Bottle at Mel's Craft Beers, Vienna. Pours almost black with a beige head. Roasted malt, campfire, dark chocolate, oats, coffee notes. Good stuff.

Grassy hops and earth. Medium to full body. Smooth. Medium to low carbonation. Roasted, smoked with some notes of caramel in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Great smoked brew.
