3.5 Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fully black, with a nice creamy foam, beige. Aroma is earthy, a little licorice, herbaceous. Body is fairly dense, with average carbonation. Taste is medium-high bitter, a little bit of sweetness. Final is fairly dry.
4.1 Pours an opaque, pitch-black coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and resinous, citrus hops, with notes of chocolate, grapefruit and pine. Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt and bitter, resinous, citrus hops, with notes of chocolate, grapefruit and pine. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some roasted malt, grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. I love a good Black IPA and this certainly fits the bill with its excellent balance of roasted malt and bitter, resinous hops, as well as chocolate and citrus accents, while finishing with a great bitterness. It's a real shame that Black IPAs have become such a rare style to find, so I'm always extremely happy to come across a well-made example of the style such as this. Very enjoyable, with a great aroma, balance of flavours and mouthfeel, a real treat.
4.1 Black bien black, mousse présente assez longtemps.
Erg fijn bier.
4.5 Black colour with white head. Very aromatic, hoppy & caramel. Probably the best IPA beer I've had.
3.6 Black color with lacing off white head. Piny, strong hoppy, citrus, slightly alcohol aroma. Bitter citrus, roasted malty flavor. Bitter, earthy palate with medium body.
4.2 33cl Bottle @ Drinks of The World, Geneva, Switzerland. Dark brown colour with a medium size tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, dried fruits, hops, citrus, pine. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, sweet, raisins, hops, citrus, resin. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.6 On tap at Mel's Craft Beers & Diner. It poured a dark brown almost black color with a tan head. The aroma was of malts, chocolate and hops. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, chocolate, hops, dark fruits, raisins with medium carbonation and a nice chewy/bitter aftertaste.
4.0 Pours (330 ml bottle, home) almost black, moderate head that fades to a thinnish wisp. Nose is massive bitter chocolate and raisin, with obscured hop twinge. Medium body with bittersweet chocolate and fruit. Well carbonated. Finish is quite sweet and foamy, fading to a lingering mild grassy hop-bitterness.
4.0 25 June 2019. At Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Shared with Anke. Pours hazy dark brown-amberish with a lasting, thin, unstable, frothy, tan head. Aroma of pink grapefruit, raisin, toast, pine resin, fig, blackberries, fondant, black olive, black tea. Taste is light fruity sweet (fig, raisin), malty & toasty with slick nuttiness, going over a bitter core of earth, coffee roast, pink grapefruit & orange peel, a bit sourish with a faint touch of olive. Dryish, piney & resinous hoppy finish, more orange, faint raisin, toast & biscuit. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Very solid BIPA, well-balanced with assertive bitterness.
3.8 On tap at Mel's Craft Beers, Vienna. Pours almost black with a light beige head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, citrus. Very nice.
3.6 Clear, darkest amber colour with a huge head. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, hints of citrus, medium body.

4.0 330ml bottle served in a pint glass. Pours dark brown color forming a medium and very creamy tan head. Medium retention and lots of creamy soapy beige lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose is very roasted and flowery. Slightly sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of roasted and chocolate malts. Notes of coffee. Hints of caramel and earth. Grassy hops profile. Good lingering and persistent bitterness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Excellent black IPA.
3.7 On tap at Mel’s Craft Beer & Diner. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, citrus, tropical fruits, grapefruit, grassy hops, charred malt. Flavor of roasted malt, charred malt, bitter chocolate, citrus, grassy hops. Standard black ipa, good for style. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)
3.9 Bottle 33cl. Dark brown almost black with a creamy head. Aroma of wet black dirt, some liquorice. Rich taste, "black" with a firm bitterness, coffee, flash of chocolate but predominantly bitter. Nice one.
3.9 Yes man. I love bipa and this one was a pleasure to end. Nice hoppy nose and a fine balanced sweetness. Mellow carbonation level and a fine tail. Ok bitterness. Easy and pleasant to drink. Dark malt, roast, fruity, pine and citric flavor. [On tap at Beer Street in Vienna, Austria]
4.4 Classique qui se laisse boire agréablement. Sans surprise. A recommander
3.9 Dark brown. Aroma is dark malt caramel toffee mango chocolate something strange. Taste is sweet chocolate with a little toffee and fruity sour gummy bears. Complex. Perfectly balanced and long fruity and toffee finish. Excellent.
Piuttosto amara
4.0 On tap. Thick black colour with medium lasting stiff off-white head. Aroma: Pine, matured chedar, black currant and blueberry. Taste: Has a very short sweet start than an intense hoppy bitter mouthfeel comes with slight sourish tones. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Long lasting intense bitter and dry finish with a little bit of sourness. More on the IPA style, less malty stouty feel.
3.8 0,33l bottle from Damian Bottle Shop, Bratislava, Pours dark black liquid, huge frothy tan head, Aroma: black malts, roasted, hopy, resin, yeast, flowers, Taste: light to medium sweet, medium bitter, light to medium sour, roasted notes, malty, slightly yeasty, pine/ resiny character, herbal and flowery, Palate: medium body, soft to average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long bitter roasty aftertaste, Overall: very good, enjoyed.
4.0 Bottle from Beerwulf. Pours mahogany with a frothy cream head. Mild pine aroma. The taste is bitter resinous pine over coffee and chocolate. My kind of beer.
4.2 Austria's leading new style craft brewery presenting this black IPA, which has apparently made it into this site's top-50 in its category - I'm very intrigued, thanks again to Davor for this bottle. Thick and regular, very mousy, pale yellowish beige, papery lacing, creamy head over a clear, very dark chocolate brown beer with ruby hue, blackish in general appearance but still translucent under bright light. Aroma of burnt toast, pine needles, crushed black peppercorns, fried horn of plenty mushrooms, black olives, leather, bayleaf, old frying oil, charcoal, salmiak, sage. Sweetish note in the onset (old raisin) but very restrainedly so, clean, black olive umami touch, light sourish undertone, medium carbonation; oily, walnutty and toasty middle with the toasted bitterness soon superseded by a long, spicy, piney, resinous hop bitterness, grapefruity and peppery, taking over from the malt bitterness without becoming too harsh - the trademark of any top quality BIPA. And this is indeed a top quality BIPA, a textbook example of the style, very classic in a way but delicious and remarkably well-executed. Glad I had this one, a really good BIPA is a rarity these days with that whole NEIPA buzz.
S: Bitterzoet. Groene hop, harsig, tikje chocolade, citrus en exotisch fruit. M: Medium body en medium carbonatie.
4.1 W aromacie żywica, cytrusy, delikatna kawa. Przyjemny, intensywny. Barwa ciemnobrązowa, piana beżowa, bardzo ładna. W smaku pełne, początkowo półsłodkie, na finiszu wytrawne. Goryczka wysoka, bardzo przyjemna, trochę żywiczna a trochę palona. Wysycenie niskie do średniego. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. Pyszne piwo, dla mnie kwintesencja stylu.
4.7 Mega udana podwojna ciemna IPA. Piana spora kremowa nieco zolta, trwala. Aromaty kawy roubusty, czekoladowego puddingu, i tropikalne cytrusy. W smaku gozko, wytrawnie, zywica z chmieli, kawa, lukrecja, pumpernikiel i palone slody. Alkohol ukryty. Doskonale wytrawna mocna i bogato nachmielona ciemna jak noc BIPA, chyba jedna z moich ulubionych
3.7 Copenhagen 4/11 2018. 33 cl bottle from Vinbørsen, Kbh Ø. What looks like a Crazy-ass Tree-folk on the label (might be Half-Crab). Pours hazy, opaque, dark brown with big off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick lump of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Massive lacing. Aroma is sweet roasted malts meeting tart berries. Caramel, roastiness is overcome by slightly stronger odor of citrus, slightly unripe gooseberries and lemon. Medium carbonation. Slightly thick, prickly and lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry. Fine Black IPA on the bitter side.
