Big Boss Hells Belle Belgian Blond

Big Boss Hells Belle Belgian Blond

This style originated in Belgium to compete with the pilsners from Czechoslovakia, Germany, and Poland. It is a fruity ale with very strong carbonation, with complex, spicy flavors like cloves.

3.3 On draft at Trio in Kill Devil Hills NC. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Aroma of banana and allspice. Flavors of overripe tropical fruits. Smooth finish.
2.7 Draft. Hazy amber color. Aroma is a bit medicinal. Taste is similar. Pretty mediocre.
3.4 Golden beer with a fluffy white head. Spicy nose with some clove and bubblegum notes. Bitter orange peel, bubblegum, clove and hairspray flavors flavors. Okay Belgian style ale.
3.4 Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Boulevard Ales pint glass From: Trader Joe’s in Ballantyne (Charlotte), N.C. Price: $1.67 (I think) Purchased: July 26, 2014 Consumed: July 28, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a honey, golden hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white head that went away quickly. Minimal lacing on the sides of the glass. Minimal retention on the top. Smelled Belgian spices, kiwi, apple, grape, banana, cloves, cinnamon, slight wintry whiff, peppery spices and caramel. Tasted pretty close to the nose with caramel, kiwi, Belgian spices, apple, green grapes, cloves, banana, slight peppery spices, cinnamon and still that wintry mix. Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, fruity finish. A pretty good Belgian beer overall.
2.9 sample, too much booze in this one, lots of yeast flavors and a ton of malts, no real finesse or drinkablity
2.8 Pours a light golden color with a good head. Fruity, yeast, spice aroma(like they said). Mild Belgian yeast taste, spices, buttery and crisp with a mild bitterness on the end. OK beer
3.5 On tap at Carolina ale house at RDU. Clear golden with thin white cap. Aroma is fruity, banana, clove and yeast. Similar taste; very sweet, no real bitterness to balance. Slick mouthfeel. Decent Belgian, but sweeter than I prefer.
3.5 Look- yellow with flecks of orange and think head with some lacing. Nose- clove, banana, sugar. Flavor- nice carbonation, bready, Belgian yeast, fruits. Decent.
3.5 12 oz bottle: Aroma is banana, fruity, yeast with a wonderful floral note. Appearance is a clear golden with a medium white head that diminishes slowly. Taste is nicely balanced Belgian ale with a nice smooth floral note with a yeast note. Palate is lightly dry with a lingering fruit note in the aftertaste. Overall, Refreshing nice stuff. Cheers!
3.1 Aroma is sweet and mild, taste is about the same with slight bitterness at the end. It’s smooth which I like.
3.9 Bottle. Pours clear, golden yellow, with no head, just a little lacing. Smells sweet. Taste is sweet, a little sour, like fruit candy. A lot of flavors going on at once, not bitter at all. Will definitely buy again.
3.6 Tap at Barley’s - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is biscuit and honey malt with pear and pineapple esters, ginger, black pepper, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is spices and moderate crisp malt, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.
2.8 12oz bottle from Lowes in Hickory. Gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is yeast, bread and sugar. Tastes are fruity, candy, light spices, little grassy, buttery. Eh.
3.0 A decent Belgian pale. Pours an ok orange. Smells herby and hoppy. Taste is basic but tasty, with some herbal and floral notes, and a slightly hoppy finish. Had on tap at Bottle Revolution in Raleigh.
2.7 Shelf turd from NC. Thanks beechner224. Smells awful. Taste is of a normal hellles. Not as bad as it smells. Drinkable but not that good. -- via beerbasher/winphone
2.9 Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with white head. Aroma is Belgium funk, sweetness. Taste is mellow, slightly sweet, clean finish. Taste is much better than the smell. Very light.
3.3 tap. golden with small head. smooth with some light fruitiness. moderate belgian spice. better as it warms.
3.0 Bottle into Trappist glass, slight hazy golden color with white head. Aroma of candy sweet malt and spicy fruity Belgian yeast. Taste adds notes of pepper, coriander, clove, some fruit (melon, green apple) and slight alcohol. Light body, moderate carbonation, dry, crisp with a spicy finish. Decent Belgian, easy drinking.
3.7 Purchased on vacation at Atlantic Beach, NC 2013. Melon spice scent, lacking appearance due to little to no head, great medium feel, with a spice clove melon fruity alcohol flavor.
3.4 Very nice Belgian style ale golden yellow in color with a great big off white head.aroma is sweet and yeasty.flavor is lite, sweet and Alittle pepper or spiced.
3.1 Sweet Belgian style ale. Touch of bitterness on the back end. Big Boss has better beers
3.5 Sampled at twin peaks, concord, nc slightly cloudy straw colored pour. Minimal head. Kind of sweet and smooth. Good example of the class from a local in the south.
2.9 Good label; faint mist in a straw gold beer. Dry, yeasty aroma with some sulphur. Light, savory, a little pepper, not fruity. A little citrus in the lightly bitter end. Crisp, summery. Thanks, LuckyDog.
2.6 Is it a blonde or belgian ale.... Im getting more belgian ale, not bad but not spectacular ... (If your not crazy about belgian style beers) .. Cant complain about it being 7% alc.
3.9 Cloudy orange yellow with white head. Hoppy corriander nose. Sweet hoppy spiced taste. I like it.
2.6 12 ounce single bottle from Food Lion in Huntersville, NC. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with no head and minimal white lacing. Aroma is coriander and yeast notes. The Palate is medium-to-full bodied, round, and mouth-filling, but with nice malts. Not bad, but nothing special.
3.3 Pint at Doherty’s Irish pub in Cary. Ok aroma, sweet, yeasty. Light toasted malt, little orange, banana. Clove. Clean golden orange color. Good that faded to a foam top. Spotty lace. Sweet flavor. Lighter body, smooth mouthfeel , sweet finish. It’s fine, not gonna wow, but drinks easy enough.
3.7 Bottled. Pours a cloudy pale gold. Mild but sharp floral aroma, with hints of ripe apple. Lots of fruit up front: pear, red apple, grape. Flavor holds as some hop bitterness develops, finishing with tart green apple, slightly dry, little alcohol sensation. Silky mouthfeel, light to medium bodied. Very tasty, fruity little beer without an overwhelming amount of wild yeast. Quite pleased with this one.
3.5 Hazy, amber/orange appearance with a small off white head and light lacing. Aroma is yeasty, candied sugar and sweet malts. Despite the sweet, tropical fruit flavors, some spicy hops hit midway through, before reverting to the sweetness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a decent alcohol kick.
2.6 I don’t particularly care for the smell on this one, as it reminds me a little of bad cheese. The taste isn’t bad; it’s a little sweet and goes down easily.
