4.1 Serving: from bottle--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles. Aroma: moderate, chocolate/coffee aroma. Appearance: very small, light-brown, initial head that instantly disappeared. No lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark, reddish-brown body. Taste: light chocolate/coffee initial flavor and lightly acidic and roasty finish with long duration. Palate: medium bodied with dry texture and lively carbonation. Overall: this is an outstanding porter. Great aroma with a flavor to match. I’d like to try it from the tap.
3.7 Bottle. Dark chestnut with a small, dark beige head. Really malty with some chocolate and slightly sour in the finish. A little thin but nice.
3.7 Bottle. Nice dark color. Dark khaki head. Heavy chocolate aroma. Almost a Smokey coffee flavor. Slightly thin. Solid porter.
3.3 12 ounce bottle. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and malt. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and smoke. Interesting take.
3.4 Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a clear reddish brown with a dissipating light brown head. Some vanilla and coffee in the nose. Medium body, dryish, chocolate accents and again quite some coffee - but never heavily roasted or burned. But quite pleasant and easygoing - if somewhat light. 160513
3.5 Bottled sample. Black in colour with moderate carbonation. Smells like a mocha milkshake with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. Flavours are of medium roast coffee, olive, toasted malt, and toasted nuts. A touch thin on the palate, with some coffee bitterness. Solid overall.
3.2 Bottle:   Deep brown, moderate to large frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Not getting a terribly strong coffee nose.   Comes across as more of a musty cocoa, and even a bit of earthiness.   Its like it reminds me of coffee beans before they are roasted.   Moderate and semi-sweet roastiness up front, but unfortunately to me its like watered down coffee.   Decent malt base, a bit creamy, cream and sugar, but missing the core roastiness.   I had the Bridgeport Negro Porter right before this and thought it was much more coffee oriented.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Light finish, again with some watered down coffee.   I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but this seemed like a regular old porter to me, with a bit of coffee.   Hops were on the low side.   Meh...
3.3 Dry roast and chocolate with a moderate bit of chocolate. Semi-sweet with a bit of an acrid finish.
3.6 Pours black with tan head. Aroma is coffee dominate with hints of chocolate. Flavor I’d much the same with a nice dark roast/coffee bitter and dry. Light-medium mouth feel with high carbonation. Overall, solid brew"
3.7 Well done coffee porter. Aromas are up front coffee, sweet malt and some chocolate. Dark cafe color with smallish off-white head. Creamy palate with some weight but not too heavy. The flavors blended well with coffee being the dominant followed by maltiness with a little bit of roasted. A little bit of chocolate milk as well. Not sure if this had lactose or not. Good spin on a porter.
2.8 12 ounce bottle. Pours a solid black with a half inch dark tan head that lasts. Taste is of coffee, malt, chocolate, some smoke and some hops. Similar, cleaner aroma. Has a decent body with a dry finish. Good, but underwhelming.
3.7 Pours Black with light tan head. Great aromas of coffee and a beautiful nuttiness. Almonds. Excellent. Flavours of coffee and a nice earthiness. Robust and balanced. Great Porter.
3.8 12oz bottle picked up at The Grapevine Appearance: Pours clear dark brown with a small tan head and some lacing Aroma: Roasted malts, roast coffee and ashes Taste: Roasted malts, coffee, rich chocolate and some smokiness A nice coffee porter, the label on this beer describes the taste.
3.8 Almost black in color with a tan head. Really nice coffee aroma. Strong coffee, mild spice, and a dark berry aroma. Some cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and hints of caramel sweetness to go along with all the roast. The flavor is a bit less impressive, but still enjoyable. Coffee, roasted malt, and a fair amount of dark chocolate. Mild spice, some earth, and a light bitterness.
3.8 Just the right balance of sweet and bitter. Roasty, but not too acrid. You can taste the coffee, especially at first, but that declines. My only quibble with this beer is that it’s too light and effervescent. Otherwise, very well-balanced and tasty.
3.7 Pours dark black with small light brown head out of bottle. Chocolate/coffee aroma. Great coffee taste with a hint of chocolate. Great beer! Big Sky keeping up the high quality brewing!
3.7 Draft at Monk’ Pub. Kind of an oblique toast to a Pope from Argentina. Black pour with a 1-finger tan head. Distinct brewed coffee aroma, not too bitter. But the coffee in the actual taste is a bit more bitter, or perhaps it’s the hops talking. There is some roast on the palate, but it’s rather "patient," waiting to sneak up on you. Not a lot of alcohol, but it is still presented for your appreciation.
3.6 Dark brown with small bubbles, looks thicker. Aromas of malts, milk, muddiness, and only minimal coffee. Moderately sweet with a slight bitter finish. Medium body with a foamy feel.
3.9 A - Great looking beer. Very dark black with darker tan head. Lacing is okay. S - Strong coffee aroma with chocolate hints. T - Nice example of a coffee porter. Not too strong on the coffee taste. Nothing really stands out though. A little bit of nuttiness. M - Mouthfeel leaves a little to be desired. Body is lighter than I would have like. Carbonation is also a little lighted than I would have liked. Dryer finish is nice. This is where the beer could improve. O - A good drinkable coffee porter. Not too intense and good balance. Maybe makes a good coffee session beer, if there is a such thing. Good enough to have once, probably won’t be revisiting for a while.
4.3 Strong coffee taste. Not too different from a coffee stout. Overall another strong entry from Big Sky.
3.8 Bottle. Pretty much a black pour with a small spotty khaki head. Coffee and slight lactose in this. Smooth and fairly heavy palate. Delicious.
3.4 12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Spiced, liqourice and herbal. Bitter, toffee and herbal coffee. Bitter and dry roasted finish.
3.5 Inky black pour. Nose is straight coffee, medium roast, soy, bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is light BBQ, smoke, coffee, ash, earth and tar. Low carbonation with a long duration.
3.5 Smooth coffee aroma and flavor but not overdone. Nice roasted malts and slight spice and a hint of chocolate. Enjoyable finish. Thin bodied overall, but good for the end of the night.
3.6 12oz bottle. Good pour, nice black color, small head burns off, opaque, slight lacing. Delicious aroma, strong coffee & malt. Coffee taste is good, not too bitter, just right. Lacks a bit on palate, not as rich as others I’ve had. I’m not sure if it will wake me up or put me to sleep. Very good.
3.4 Bottle - Deep brown pour with a massive foamy tan head. Nose is a bit milky, with medium roast mocha, a little nuttiness, vanilla, and a touch of metal. Taste is roughly the same, though the coffee doesn’t pop. It’s more like coffee grounds than fresh brewed coffee. It melds well with the porter though to create a bitter, mocha goodness. A tad watery at times, but with nice vanilla sweetness and a pleasant roasty finish. A little watery body with just enough carbonation. Overall it’s a solid, straight-up coffee porter without much going on. And that’s just fine, because it’s pretty tasty.
3.7 Bottle to pint glass. Very understated aroma; one would expect more of a coffee porter. The very first sniff was enjoyable, though I struggled to identify why once the dust settled. Light brown head dissipates quickly to a film, and maintains as such for a few sips. A generally pleasant porter, but this one lacks the rich, robust attributes that coffee often imparts. An appreciable balance in terms of initial sweetness fading to understated dryness. Such a transition account for a good mouthfeel, if a bit thin.
3.2 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small head that quickly fades. Aroma is dominated by roasted coffee. Taste is also entirely roasted coffee. Not getting anything else really but at least the coffee taste is good. Finish is very bitter and a bit rough. Mouthfeel is a tad thin. Overall, good coffee flavor but nothing else to make it stand out.
2.9 You know, this is a good beer, just nothing to blow your mind tho. Its heavy black with a small beige head. It is well balanced. The coffee in the aroma isn’t too strong. The flavor is coffee and bitter hops but ends a little sharp... and the body starts thin but ends thicker and sticky. Ooookay!
3.7 Pour a dark brown, almost black color with a medium tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Nice flavors of cocoa and coffee without the coffee being too dominant. Body is a little thin. Nice.
