Big Sky Moose Drool Brown Ale

Big Sky Moose Drool Brown Ale

Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.
Note: ABV went down to 5.1%.

3.2 Poured with a bit of head and had very strong lacing. Solid earthy flavors of malt and a subtle aftertaste of hops. Enjoyed this with some spicy seafood.
3.0 12 oz can at Union Grill, pours reddish brown clear. Faint malt aroma, thinnish body. Bitter malt taste and finish. Not really in brown ale style.
3.3 12 oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a small off white head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt. Medium bodied, a very nice brown ale.
3.6 Its been a few years since I've had this beer and at the time I thought it to be a really good beer as the flavor was not to hoppy and the malts were not to coffee or chocolate, a very nice Brown Ale.
3.3 Found out of bottle. Really nice appearance but that is the best part. Not great but serviceable. I would drink again but not something I would prefer over most for the style.
2.0 12 oz bottle, took a few sips and then poured into a16 oz beer glass. Poured with short off-white foam. It's a dark reddish-brown ale. Aroma is very light and hard to make out. Just carmel and booze. Maybe a bit of brown sugar. First sip was good. Tasted like a lighter version of a stout. Drinking further into the bottle and then the glass I was disappointed. Almost no significant flavor somehow. Light carmel notes and water as an aftertaste. Yep. Water. That's a first for my reviews. Effervescence is strong and could be pleasant but isn't impressive when there isn't any taste to go with it. Not picking this up again.
3.5 Aroma of dark malt, orange rind, and nutmeg. Taste is currants, blackberries, and mace.
2.0 Pours muddy brown with reddish glow. Aroma is malt, caramel, cocoa, and some earthy notes. Taste follows suit with slight spice and chocolate notes adding in. Finishes quickly and without any added features. I’m a fan of brown ales, but this one really fell short for me.
3.4 Clear, dark brown with small beige head. Light roast, chocolate and caramel aroma. Caramely flavour with sweet fruity notes. Has a little chocolate too.
3.6 Draft at Togwatee Mountain Lodge, WY. Malty Brown Ale with chocolate and caramel in the taste
3.1 Nice aroma of chocolate and malt. Rich sweet malt and hints of chocolate. Dry bitterness. Decent.
3.1 Draught @ Lager Tap House, San Diego. Pours dark brown with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, light nuts, little dark fruit. Flavor is rarther weak, malt, caramel, bread, nutty, fruit. Thin to medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. 260718
3.3 355ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with wonderful ruby glimmer and average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly earthy, nutty, malty aroma, hints of Brazil nut. Taste is dry, nuttily malty, minimally fruity hoppy, a touch of dark cherry.
5.0 It is one of my favorite beers so far. Sweet-ish, but not too much, it was just right
3.3 Bottle, thanks to HuskerTan. Pours dark brown with reddish tint against the light, large foamy light beige head, faint roasted malt aroma, adequate carbonation, mildly bitter roasted malt taste, thin body, longish finish. Nice brew.
2.5 Pours brown with a beige head, aroma of caramel, dried fruits, sweet, flavor is toasty, dark bread, caramel, malt, medium bodied
3.3 Good lloking copper/brown beer with a nice head. a Malty beer with caramel and a touch of chocolate. The tast is nice but does not last very long. The first one I found very watery but after I got used to the beer, I kinda liked it. I did keep one can over 2 years and was sorry that I did not keep more as the taste was better than I did remember. More spicy and more leaning towards a german doppelbock.
3.5 355ml bottle from Tasty Life, Xiamen. Pours dark reddish brown with an off white head. Aroma of chocolate, malt and nuts. Sweetish taste and finish.
2.9 Bottle pour. Nice lacing. Dark chocolate aroma. Nutty flavors but lacks a staying power through the finish.
3.3 0,3 litre Bottle from Total Wine Henderson. Dark brown with little white head. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt taste.
4.0 cerveja boa para um dia mais frio. já tomei melhores, mas é uma cerveja acima da média.
4.1 Draft at draft. Brown with thin tan head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Medium-high sweetness. Medium body, creamy texture, light bitter and roasty finish.
3.3 From Sep 2007 I had this on tap at Paradise Valley Liquors Poured a very dark brown with reddish hues and a small head of foam. That shrank to an island in the middle after a few minutes and it has very little lacing. The smell is malty and somewhat nutty. The taste has some chocolate malt notes and some nutty flavour and a very mild hop presence in the background. It finishes on a fruity note and the aftertaste is short. Medium carbo and a good mouthfeel for the style. Here's a good transition beer for those who may be a bit timid about trying something new. I think it's a good example of the style.
3.5 Pours dark translucent brown with a think tan head. Caramel taste with a hint of dry cocoa finish. A hint of cinnamon spices at the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.1 Pours a deep cola color with a decent off white head which lingers a bit......aroma of chocolate, shoo fly pie filling.....taste is a tad thin, touch metallic, chocolate, slight bittering, but disappears quickly.
3.6 Looks like a coke when you pour it in a glass. I didn't enjoy the appearance perhaps on draft it would be different. However over all I love moose drool
3.1 Moose Drool's Brown Ale has on OK taste in my opinion. Stouts and Porters are still my game.
3.4 Bottle courtesy of jtclockwork. Region #111. Pours mid to dark brown with a lasting tan coloured head. Aroma of nut, hop, chocolate, roasted malt, toffee and molasses. Medium to heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and creamy texture, average to soft carbonation.
3.2 From the bottle, also at the Beartooth Cafe in Cooke City. Pours brown and leaves a thick, foamy head. Aroma is nutty. Taste is sweet, nutty, with a light apple tang near the finish. Dragged down by light metallic notes, but otherwise good.
3.1 At Beartooth Cafe, Cooke City. Pours hazy dark amber/brown with a diminishing, brown head. The aroma contains caramel, malt, hay, hops and bread. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter with a dry finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Drinkable yet nothing special.
