BIIR White IPA

BIIR White IPA

Gold Medal in Brussels Beer Challenge 2013, in collaboration with Gunther Bensch from Browerij Montaigu (Belgium), is a beer with the touch of Barcelona. It has a cosmopolitan, innovative and creative spirit, as does the city.

BIIR’s recipe combines the tradition of Belgian Witbier and the innovation of American IPAs.

A large amount of barley and wheat malt from Central Europe provides body and alcohol content above what is usual in Wit. From Australian and North American hops it obtains fruity aromas and flavors, with the precise dose of bitterness that also turns BIIR into a refreshing beer. Three different types of organic orange peel and coriander brings out the aromatic flavors of Mediterranean.

3.7 Sweet aroma with orange, lemon and generally citrusy hoppy with some floral notes and some sweet cereals. Light yellow color lightly cloudy with amazing dense head that lasts. Flavor is light sweet and medium bitter with botanical, lemon, pepper and citrus mainly but with added spice notes. Aftertaste is strong with mainly citrusy hoppiness and lasting, yeah it’s an IPA... Medium bodied with light carbonation plus crisp. Amazing brew. . Flavour is light to moderate sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied. Strong zesty citrus and good bitterness, very crisp and refreshing. Excellent hoppy fruity Wit.

3.5 On tap at Delirium Cafe, Amsterdam. Sweet and bitter orange aroma with pungent pineapple hops and faint, sweet pilsner malt. Cloudy dark yellow under persistent, large white bubbles and wisps. Sweet pilsner malt flavour behind bitter pineapple and orange. Resinous hops linger in the finish. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, crisp from the bitterness and lightish body.
Medio cuerpo. Muy fresca

3.8 hazy pale yellow colour, moderate sized white head; aroma and taste of a mixture of a citrusy-fruity IPA, a saison (with leather, barnyard and earthy notes) and a witbier (lemony-wheathy notes); good beer

3.3 Flaske 330ml. Gave fra Cristina & Pau. Lys appelsinfarget. Veldig uklar. Middels høyt skum som daler sakte & etterlater tett lacing. God appelsinaroma. Smaken er grapefrukt. Litt tørr. Frisk. Blir friskere og friskere etter hvert. Uvariert.
3.3 Shared a bottle with Patrick and Lennart at my home 3-10-2015. Nice beer, a bit like Mr.Rock that we had in the Ardennes and in the train back from Beergeeks @ struise. Very fresh, quite some taste. Okay.
3.2 @ grave beer festival: Medium white head golden coloured body, fruity hops yeast malts smell, medium carbonation medium high bitter, sweet some pine like taste
3.2 Golden with a large white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, spice, wheat and malt. Taste is bitter and mild sweet. Body is medium, texture is thin and carbonation is average.
2.6 BIIR White IPA 6.8% A Barcelona Craft Beer pick up at Hopduvel in Gent. It turns out this was brewed in Belgium @ Anders in collaboration with Ginther Bensch. New world hops and U.S. IPA fused with a belgian wit. It pours an ultra-pale cloudy gold, too light more like a lemonade. The aroma is a ton of orange and some bready wheat spiciness. Not all that IPA like so far. Very spritzy rough carbonation like an aggressive seltzer. The taste is bitter lemon rind, some wit yeast character and a harsh hoppiness. WTF? Fail.
