Birra del Borgo Cortigiana

Birra del Borgo Cortigiana

Golden Ale.

2.7 Pours cloudy golden. Aroma is light, slightly funky. Taste is light, slightly hay. Low carbonation.
2.6 330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Low, bubbly head over a misty yellow-greenish body. Spotty lacing. Mid-sweet pale malty nose, hints of yeasty fruitiness. Moderate honeyed sweet fruity flavours, some impacts of spices. Mid-sweet, drying fruity ending. Medium bodied. Okay, rather empty though. (Tromsø 01.09.2018).
3.4 Bottled 0,33L. Dark yellow/orange color, dirty aspect, sediments, bubbly and lively aspect with good head of long duration. Intence yeasty and stum motes, aroma is moderate citric, malt, orange peel, aged grapes. Moderate prickly mouth, bit sweetish and alcoholic taste, pleasant riped fruit and yeasty palate.
2.8 Flaske fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Langnes. Drukket på Lillehøgda. Varm gylden. Nesten klar. Lavt skum. Lett plommearoma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken lett syrlig. Frukt & krydder.
3.3 Draft - Pale malts and some citrus hops. Clear gold with a rich white head. Bitter up front with some pale malts. Tastes more like an APA.
3.0 Bottiglia.
2.8 Shared bottle at RB/HD at Vatlandsvåg 14.07.18. Cloudy pale straw colour. Aroma and taste of lemonade, pale malt, meadows and plum jam. Low bitterness.
3.2 Shared bottle at Vatlandsvåg. Pours hazy golden, big creamy white head. Sweet aroma of malts and honey. Taste is moderate sweet, weak dry malty bitter finish, decent but nothing more
3.6 Shared 750 ml bottle. ABV is 5%. Pale golden colour, white head. Both aroma and flavour has hints of honey, but the beer is not very sweet. Also spicy saison yeast and decent bittering hops.
3.0 0,75 l flaske fra Auchan, Olbia, ratet på RBHD-treff i Vatlandsvåg, 2018. Matt grågyllen kropp med gulhvitt skum. Svake sitrustoner i nesa. Svak syrlighet og fin sødme, men lite bitterhet før et godt stykke ut i ettersmaken.
3.2 floral, grass, golden, hazy, lightly sour, medium bitterness, light body, average carbonation,
3.0 Provata in bottiglia da 0,33. Coloro dotato, schiuma bianca poco persistente. Finale amaro. Corpo leggero, birra beverina adatta all’estate.
3.2 Tasted 12 / 06-18; presentation of new beer at the Norwegian Vinmonopolet. Golden color. Low white head. Slightly fruity aroma. Some orange marmalade, apricot. Light acidity. Missing game between flavors, but fine touch of bitter orange peel at the end. Fresh, but wanted more flavor.
Romig mondgevoel. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: droog, hopbitter. Saison???
3.2 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange colour with a thin white head, light fruit aroma, the taste is medium bitterness and fruity with a dry bitter finish.
3.2 The beer has got a hazy orange-yellow colour with a small head and thin body. Aroma of hops and straw. Taste of hops, straw, citric, nuts and dust. Average.
3.3 750ml bottle at Interno 92, Rome. Aroma is yeast, light citrus, light pineapple. Appearance is very cloudy yellow with a white foam. Taste is light to medium bitter with a light sweetness. Light dry. Good.
3.5 F: medium, white, average retention. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, orange, tangerine, gooseberries, lemon peels, bit tropical fruits. T: malty, light tangerine, watery grapefruits, pineapple, bit lemon peels, bit herbal, medium body and carbonation, not bad at all with long lasting harmonic bitterness, refreshing, 33cl bottle from Delhaize Roodebeek in Brussels.
3.6 Belgian style blonde ale from a stylish, rosé wine-like bottle - as many Italian craft brewers use... Ever since Borgo was taken over by AB InBev, distribution of their beers obviously increased, found this one at the new Delhaize supermarket in Lokeren, much to my surprise really. Medium thick, snow white, moussy but quite large-bubbled head, slowly dissipating over a hazy straw blonde beer with warm peachy hue. Attractive, bit 'rustic' aroma of dried lemon zest, pineapple, white grape juice, sourdough, fresh camomile, unripe plums, dry hay, green apple, white pepper, some iron. Fruity onset, sweetish peach and pineapple, hint of pear with soft sourish edges, lively and minerally carbonation effect, smooth, 'juicy' mouthfeel. Pleasant bready malt sweetish middle, the breadiness being increased in the finish by yeast , but also bittered by a floral, spicy, leafy hoppiness, quite long and drying, in a 'noble', balanced way. Apparently intended as a 'golden ale' but this is much closer to a traditional Belgian style saison, albeit a 'clean' and light one; it does, however, have the crispness, dryness, fruity and hayish qualities, breadiness and spritzy carbonation to make it qualify as a saison - so ignoring brewer's intent, I think its classification as a saison here is quite appropriate. Nice to see something like this pop up in a large supermarket chain, hopefully AB InBev will not further interfere with production too much so that this quality level can be maintained.
3.7 Why call it a Saison, when the brewery itself calls it Dorata (Golden ale)? Small if reasonably stable, just yellowish head; fully hazy yellow-orange beer. Very nice citrussy nose, New World hops, quite spicy, lunaria, lupuline, orange, kumquat. Faint bitterish, faintly spicy, citrussy flavour. CItruspeel. Slightly burning MF, much better carbonated than it looks. No new aftertaste, but long-lasting flavours, emphasizing the hopbitterness. Really good. If ABInbev lets del Borgo keep doing these, and distribute them into warehouses as Delhaize, I really don't mind the takeover that much...8/4/7/4/14
Ricorda l'antoniana
3.1 Cloudy orange beer with frothy white head. Aroma is malty, grainy and some fruits notes. Taste is balanced between sweet and bitter. Some fruits also in taste. Dry finish, mild body. Overall descent and refreshing beer.
3.2 33 cl bottle @ Mastro Fidelio, Rome. Cloud yellow-orange with a white head. Fruity and floral aromas. Flavours of citrus, herbs, floral and grass. Dry texture. Medium to light body.
