Birra del Borgo Genziana

Birra del Borgo Genziana

A top fermented ale brewed with gentian, a bitter flowering plant.

3.5 Bottle, Reggina del Formaggio, Split, shared with heavy. Murky amber body with almost no head. Light aroma, marmalade basically, light herbal touch, soft, quite Belgian. The taste goes along the same lines. Slightly thin, it carries lovely citric (orange), vaguely flowery notes and classic Belgian Blonde notes with a vague herbal touch. Very vague. Not sure what gentian brings exactly and how big an effect it has on the taste, but this is one of the best Borgos I’ve tried, a pleasant, tasty, well balanced beer, just not flashy.
3.4 Bottle. Hazy amber color with creamy head. Aroma - Lemon, coriander, figs, caramel. Taste - Bittersweet, spice, grapefruit, toffee, malt.
3.4 (tap 0,3l @ OP (Brno)) Aroma: Sweet, spicy, belgian-like. Appearance: Hazy, light golden color. Medium, white head. Taste: Medum sweet, spicy, light bitter. Palate: Medium body. Overall: Good. Belgian-like.
3.0 Bottle (2015 batch). Clear orange, small white head. Spicy aroma, yeast, sweet fruity flavour, spicy, sweet finish
3.6 Muito aromática, amargor equilibrado e malte bem presente. Lembra uma IPA, porém menos amarga. Excelente cerveja.
2.7 0,33l bottle from Damian Bottle Shop, Bratislava, BBD: 03 2018 Pours almost clear goldne liquid, small soapy white head, Aroma: spicy, herbal, root vegetable, after a while floral, Taste: medium sweet, light bitter, light to medium sour, lemony, herbal, flowery, body is caramel to grainy, strange, making me feel it gone bad - sour, but perhaps it´s beacause of the gentian, Palate: medium body - even watery like, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long flowery sour aftertaste, Overall: did not realy enjoyed. Interesting, but much on the sour side, body tending to watery, strange.
3.2 Tap @Open Baladin, Roma. Cloudy golden, small offwhite head. Very malty, slightly grainy aroma. A touch of orange perhaps. Flavour has malt and orange. Nice and smooth but somewhat boring.
4.0 Big soft round fruit aromas. Punch orange color ring of head. Tastes like dried fruity and wood. Nice full body.
3.7 Hazy orange color with creamy, white head. Aroma is grassy, herbal, like a herbal tea with camomile. Taste has very nice saison notes along the herbal component. Slightly sweet but overall really drinkable. Body is really soft and has medium to low carbonation. Really tasty and easy to drink.
3.2 Semi-clear golden appearance with fine white foam. Sweet malt aroma. Taste of marshmellow makes you thing of candy floss. High sweetness, not much bitterness. Soft carbonation, full body.
3.1 Bottle Aroma-herbs, spices Appearance-golden, cloudy, white foam, Taste-medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, Palate-medium body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish, Overall-not bad
Cerveja excelente
3.9 floral, citrus, and earthy aroma, golden, clear, minimal head, white foam, tastes like it smells. medium body, lively cabonation, dry end.
3.4 Trübes Orange mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Malzig, blumig, Enzian, Kräuter, dezent bitter.
3.5 Aroma condimentado, terroso e floral. Notas de mel, terra, especiarias e frutas amarelas, tendo final delicado e persistente. Muito boa!
3.4 Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s bush. Murky brown grey coloured pout with a lasting frothy white head. Aroma is odd, ginger, woody, herbal, bark, some spicy background fruits. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, hobey and maple, bark, caraway, liquorice. Interesting and fairly balanced. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation. Maybe a little flabby. I quite like it.
3.1 Gradevole birra seppur disarmonica.
3.3 Keg at CBC Clerko, 03/06/15. Lightly hazed orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is tarte citric, apricot, spice, light yeast, bread, bitter orange. Taste comprises apricot, earthy streak, tangy citric peel, light floral, grain, straw, soft bread, trace of spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a little bitterness. Ok.
Medium kropp, medium karbonering
2.7 Shared bottle at RB/HD at Tau 07.06.15. Hazy, dark straw colour. Small, off-white head. Aroma of fermented tropical fruits and flowers. Similar taste, with wine gum and bitter, artificial sweeteners.
2.8 Shared bottle at Sigmunds place. Pours unclear golden with no head at all. Aroma is sweet caramel and fruit. Taste is moderate sweet with a dry herbal finish, too sweet for me.
2.6 750 ml bottle, as Birra del Borgo Genziana con radici, from Vinmonopolet. BB date March 2015. ABV is 6.1%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Strong sweetish malty and herbal / vegetable aroma. The flavour is also quite sugary sweet, notes of malts, caramel, herbs and vegetables (the radishes, I assume). Low bitterness. Not really my cup of tea. Drank it moderately chilled - might be more refreshing ice cold.
3.0 Keg at Craft Clerko. It pours hazy blonde with a creamy white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, floral, grassy, herbal and white sugar. The taste is smooth, sweet, candy, honey, white bread, grass, floral, light alcohol, melon and a touch of sweet apple. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Sweet moderate boost golde. Tripel-esque. Too sweet for my tastes.
3.2 bottle sample at a bar, poured a vuzzy yellow colour with a white head. notes of floral herbal spices, citrus, grains, orange peel bitterness, fruity juice notes, orange, caramel sweetness, yeast spiceness, cloves,
3.1 Pours yellow, not extraordinary head, flower scent found in the smell as in the taste, good body, pleasant beer but too much flower flavour for my taste
3.8 250 ml. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontenais. Light hazy orange, big creamy white head. Nose is very weird, very sweet, huge vanilla, very sweet flowers, candy sugar, it is very sweet but not malt or sugar sweet, vanilla, flowers & orange like sweetness, almost grenadine level of sweetness. Taste is hugely sweet vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, lots of gelatin orange candy, sweet bark, hugely sweet flowers,… Body is oddly not heavy. Very interesting, I liked but it was too much all the same. Description: “A top fermented ale brewed with gentian, a bitter flowering plant.” -> How in the world does this taste so sweet then?
4.2 A cloudy, lion's mane appearance. Very floral (gentian root) taste in the beginning. Clove and bread taste. Light carbonation. Fantastic unique taste that the gentian adds. Similar to a Belgian tripel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
