3.4Dimmig gyllengul öl med ett vitt skum. Doften är fruktig med citrus och äpple. Lättare toner av saisonjäst. Detsamma återkommer i smaken.
3.8Bottle from Reading BF 2017 and drunk at home. Hazy pale gold colour with a thick white head. Good yeast saison aroma and good lemon and hop. A bit over carbonated, but it was really good on a slightly funky saison and also I liked the lemon flavour. Yes very drinkable and the level of lemon curd is rather good. LEMON. Quite dry as well.
3.9Flaska från SB. Disig ljusgul vätska med högt vitt skum. Funkig oldstyle sauvage saison med mycket karaktär. Stall, halm, citrus. Ganska torr avslutning utan att vaa besk. Riktigt trevlig.
4.1Bottle from systembolaget Sweden. Big initial white head that goes down to a tiny lace. Intense brettnomycec aroma that goes towards leather and stable. Fruity and dry taste. A really intersting and refreshing beer.
3.833cl bottle. hazy orange color. medium white head. peppery saison yeast, tart, tropical fruits, green apple. well balanced.
Något lättare kropp, sväller i munnen.
3.7Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy golden with a small head. Aroma of funk, apples and some grass. Similar taste, also with mild brett. The mouthfeel was on the soft side. A pleasant one.
3.4Bottle, batch B5/2015 (from SIP). Excited to be opend, but doesn’t actually gush. Pours yellow with huge white head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is fruits, brett, apricots, sugar, dryness. Flavor is sweet, bitter, dry, bretty, yeasty, fruits, apricots, medicinal. Finish has fruity notes and dryness. Overall: ok saison.
3.6Birrificio: Vieille Ville Saison. 75 cl, bottled. BB 31 08 19, lot L 216 16. Batch #3, bottle 888 (2014). Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma: Sour berries, malt, yeast. 2.933 cl bottle from LCBO online, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Light gusher.
App.: Cloudy light straw with a decent white froth.
Aroma: Quite zesty, zippy and citrusy, peppery, some funk/wild character, light yeast/bread dough, plucky!
Palate: Medium-ish body, full, smooth carbonation.
Flav.: More malt and yeast character to round out the sharper notes of citrus, funk and spice, a little estery as well; dry with light to moderate bitterness and light tang, with a citrus and bread dough finish.
Interesting. Not my favourite Saison.
3.4Bottle (33cL). Head is initially large, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cracker), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of lemon zest, oak, pineapple, band-aid. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Pretty nice but not great. Pleasant aroma and balance, but fairly watery and limp.
3.0Bottle, batch 2. Bright aroma impression is lemon zest, lemon juice, perfume, concrete-musty brett, faint grass-like hoppiness. Medium bodied, tart, lightly sweet, gelatinous-filmy-slick in the mouth, tasting yeasty, musty, and sour. Bland, tart, and sour with some quiet alcohol heat.
3.7650ml bottle, pours and hazy tan. Nose is very yeasty and brett. Flavour of spiciness, brett, and pale malts. A nice saison.
3.8Bottle from Denman, batch 1, year 2012, 4 years old, bottle 1124 of 2400
The bottle is a slow gusher. Nice aroma, moderately funky, quite true Saison, dry, spicy, with an evident orange peel character. Dry, a bit too much carbonated, it has a good blend of spicy and orange peel character, and astringent final.
Nice.
3.9Hazy and pale. Thin head. The aroma is yeasty, with light fruitiness from the brett, a touch of gooseberry, salmonberry, again with the nice yeast spiciness and a hint of pale malt. Complex, a very good saison.
3.9750mL bottle, pours a hazy dull golden yellow with a large white head. Aroma is fairly funky, with light barnyard funk, rustic farmhouse notes, lots of yeast, and some hay. Flavour is quite yeasty, with subdued funk and lots of rustic farmhouse yeast. Much less funky and much more rustic than the nose suggests. Medium carbonation, with a nice spritziness. Really good.
3.42012 bottle, batch 1. A real gusher. Aroma of Brett and yeasty spiciness. Tastes surprisingly tame, with moderate barnyard funk and fairly high effervesence. Nice!
4.2Amarelo palha, turva. Espuma abundante, fina, clara, de longa duração. Aroma de laranja, camomila e pimenta branca. Sabor amargo médio, persistente, com final levemente picante. Notas de laranja, casca de laranja, pêssego, folhas verdes e pimenta do reino. Corpo leve.
3.7Oransje farge. Lavt skum. Aroma av sitrus, stall og brett. Smaker samme. Sur. Tykk konsistens.
3.5Dirty orange/golden color. Medium-to-high carbonation. Funky aromas of mustard and obvious brett/barn smell. Malty with a bit of acidity. Funky, spicy, grapefruit/bitter orange notes. Very little hop flavor. A good, wild saison.
3.7Shared bottle at Cardinal. Pours pale Golden with a big creamy white head. Aroma of spicy yellow fruits. Taste is fresh and crisp fruity funky, lively mouthfeel, high carbonated, very good.
3.7330 ml bottle, as Vieille Ville Saison, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Pale golden colour, large white head. Pleasant "farmhouse" aroma of brettanomyces, hints of oak. Fairly light bodied. Medium dry flavour, distinct brett notes but not really acidic, also peppery notes, medium bitter finish. Good beer.
3.3Shared bottle with scott. Funky farmhouse in aroma and Taste. Drinkable stuff.
3.8Tap at What’s Brewing 2015, day 2. Clearly deserves a rerate as the bottle I’ve had earlier probably had faults, this is a completely different beer, obviously how it’s supposed to be. Hazy yellow body with a white head, bretty and citrusy aroma with mild spices. Taste is dry and hoppy, fresh, tropical hops, zesty with a spicy and fruity finish, the brett really shines with a funky dry feel throughout the beer. I’m glad I gave this a second chance!
3.3Bottle. Pours clear orange, very small bubbly head with a bit of lacing. Aroma is Brett, oak, green apple. Flavor is light plus sweet, Brett and apples, light plus funk, minimal bitterness. Medium body, low carbonation. Nice Brett character but the apples and sweetness were distractions.
2.220.01.2016, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Big fizzy-creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh floral, leafs, flowers, hay, citrus peel, yeast, minerals, paper, weeds, sour grass, soap. Taste is slightly sour-ish floral, weeds, sour grass, soda powder, minerals, soap, paper, flowers, camomile, hay, yeast. Medium bitterness, sour-ish mineraly and foamy mouthfeel. Meh!
3.1From tap at Øst at del Ducato tap takeover with JMD 14.01.16. Cloudy pale golden. Not much head or lacing. Sour lambic aroma with wite wine vinegar. Similar taste, with hints of wood. Medium bitterness of roganberries, lemon zest and pine lingering on. Dry mouthfeel.
