I created this beer to celebrate my wedding and my bride who has always loved Rauch beers. The city of Bamberg is particularly dear to us. We ventured through its streets, indulged in its well known smoked beers and stood together contemplating the water ripples of the river Regnitz.
Being in Tettnang 2 days before the wedding to select the newly harvested hops, I brought back 10 freshly uprooted hop plants to decorate the wedding reception. Instead of the traditional rice tossing, the guests showered us with hop flowers. My weeding suit was garmented by a small hop blossom as well. With more than 200 guests and 450 liters of beer, many remember our celebration as one of the most memorable gatherings they have ever attended.
Selling the leftover beer to some clients was such a success that we decided to keep brewing it. It is now part of our beer family!

3.70,15l on tap @ Olut Expo 2015. Pours hazy chestnut with a low off-white head. Aroma is malts and smoked ham. Flavor is malts, smoked ham and some hops. Nice and light.
3.2draught@Erzbierschof - hazy dark amber-brown beer with a long lasting beige foam; aroma of smoked meat and mushrooms; full-bodied, subtle but fair carbonation; umami, some sweetness; fairly smokey finish with notes of brushwood and mushrooms - original
3.8Dark maple syrup color Amber big foam. Aroma Band-Aids and smoke like a funky saison. Tastes smoky yet integrated. Slight saltiness. Rye bread. This is a delicious tribute to Bamberg smoked brews. Palate is rustic dry and slightly watery.
3.4Smoke is in the aroma, not so much in the flavor which makes this a nice subtle beer, even gets a little sweet towards the end. Easy to drink
Tap at Craft and Draft
3.1Bevuta in bottiglia. Colore marrone scuro. Schiuma poco persistente. Sentori di legno bruciato, speck e miele. Sono una fan delle Rauch, direi ok.

3.4Bottle from Birrivico, Como, L169 14, bb 01 06 15; 5.4% ABV
Dark amber color, hazy, with generous head. It has a good smoke component; it’s a bit mellow, some caramel, lightly sweet; it lacks of some more character though.
Nice.
3.5Bottle from Systembolaget. Beautiful reddish beer with a thick head. Malty, mildly smoked, tasty beer. Smokiness not in Schlenkerla levels but works great for the balance. A tad watery but decent stuff still.
3.8Almost no head, reddish chestnut coloured beer. Smoked ham aroma, and a fresh vegetable - raw gurkins? Mineral, hearth fire, cured meat. Light taste with again smoked ham, lard, glowing ashes connotations. Yet again something fresh veggielike - impossible to nail down. Quite light body, watery consistency, beer feels rather tired. Too old? Light Rauch. Good.
3.4Keg at Borefts beer fest day 2 27/09/2014. Bodegraven. Caramel / red / amber coloured pour with a lasting sticky off white head. Aroma is wet grains, hint of smokey raunch malts. Flavour is composednutty and rauch malts, smokey sausage. Palate is a bit thin, sweet with highish carbonation.
3.133cl bottle from Grand Cru, Rimini. It pours a clean rich copper / ruby color with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty, with notes of prunes, caramel, grains and light woody smoke. Taste is mostly sweet, with a very faint tartness in the finish. Smoke is also very mild in the aftertaste. Main notes are caramel, toffee, plums and figs. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, not very smoky and not very tasty.
3.3330 ml bottle. Pours a very flaky copper-amber with a short lived white head. Aroma is caramel, smoke, wood, meat, salt. Flavor is caramel, brown sugar, orange, apple, smoke. Finish is smoke, oldish, dusty and mineral. Lingering smoke, earth and minerals. Medium body, average carbonation.
2.8Pours a chocolate brown minimal head. Aroma is smokey and nutty. Taste is smokey, multigrain bread and toffee. Enjoyable but nothing special.
3.4Keg at BBF 6, 27/09/14, last tick of the fest proper!
Dark amber/chestnut brown with a decent beige covering that retains.
Nose is biscuit, smoked malt, rye bread, toffee, spice, light metallic whisper.
Taste comprises smoked malt, dark toffee, light smoked meat notes.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent well rounded rausch.
3.5pours clear dark golden, red tint, with a small light beige-orange cap showing some retention and lacing. wood smoked lightly spicy and nutty maltiness, appreciable and welcomed caramel, red fruitiness imparting fruity berries with just a touch of their acidity, meaty without being bacony, peppery and grassy. light carbonation, light body, balanced woodsy-astringent-smoky-peppery-grassy finish. enjoyable.
3.2330ml bottle. Hazy copper body with a huge white head, that just kept on building up. Aroma is smoky, with a touch of campfire, and slightly sweet. Flavor consists basicly of caramel and smoke.
Passabile!
3.2Dark amber body with a small offwhite head. Aroma of sweet plums and light smoky, taste of caramel, dark malts, raisins and subtle smoke hints. A little light on the smoke to be honest. Finish is bitter and fruity, making an enjoyable, though still a bit boring beer.
An amber brown beer with low head. Nose is slightly smoked, aroma is on caramel and light smoked notes associated with seals horse notes, leather. Peppery finish, a shy version of smoked beer.
3.5Smoked salmon and smoked mackerel, that’s a new one! Instead of the usual meaty aroma profile with sausages and the like, the smokey notes in this one actuarially reminds me more of smoked, salty fish. This isn’t as fishy as it sounds, these notes actually makes the aroma far crisper than the heavy meaty aromas of some smoked beers. I don’t get any smoked fish in the flavour, but I guess thats a very good thing. Instead there is a pronounced hoppy fruitiness that plays very well with the gentle smoke. The taste is light to moderate sweet and the finish is light bitter. It is smooth on the palate with a moderate carbonation. In the glass it is hazy with a medium amber colour and a very large, creamy, off-white head. A very nice and different smoked.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 3 months before BB date, form Systembolaget Gårda, Göteborg]
Peu stimulant.
3.5330 ml on tap at Birra+. Light brown, slightly hazy, with an average, creamy, moderately persistent off white head. Good lacing. Roasted and meaty nose, some bacon chips notes, smoky cheese (scamorza), a hint of campfire smoke, toffee and burnt caramel. Plesent sweetness, very balanced with just a hint of chocolate bitterness in the aftertaste. So easy to drink and surprisingly refreshing. Average carbonation, light to medium body, slightly creamy texture, Very nice.
