Double amber malt produced by way of decoction, with approximately 6.5% alcohol by volume (17 Plato degrees). A small amount of Cassis syrup is added at the beginning of the fermentation with S. carlsbergensis. It is prematurely bottled to obtain high gas saturation, and matured for at least six months at a temperature of approximately 6-7 °C. As in the case of Amber Shock, this is not re-fermentation, but an exclusive procedure adopted by "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago Marinone . Cassissona®" has been produced since 1999. It is made during the summer and served in wide-mouthed glasses with the appropriate dessert.

3.1Shared bottle courtesy of sigmund. Pours hazy golden-orange with a white film. Berries, sweat, barnyard, plums and ripe peach in the aroma. Fruity, bitter and alcoholic in the mouth. Dry. Medium body.
3.61 pint 9.4 fluid ounce bottle - you do the math. Almost a gusher, but just missed. Muddy brown with giant chunks and floaties. Massive beige head that never settles. Aroma of hay, mud, fruit. Taste is very slightly sour, raspberry, fruitcake. Not bad.
3.6750ml Bottle: GUSHER! Aroma of Belgian yeast, cassis, currant, and Sprite. Poured a muddy brown in color with a large, loose, off-white/tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of small, medium, and large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet and light to medium tart. Tastes of currant, grapes, slight Belgian yeast, malt, caramel, slight tart fruit, and some berry. Medium body. Very tingly, then lightly dry texture. Lively carbonation. Medium to heavily sweet, slightly tart, grape, cassis, currant, light caramel, and slight Belgian yeast finish is dry.
3.5bottle from de molen shop ... amber ... big foam white head .... blackcurrant light barnyard funk nose ... sweet fruits ... little black currant ... little lemon ... soft fruits ... little toffee in background ... quite pleasant ... tad over fizzy
2.9Not the best, not the worst. At least it wasn’t a gusher like many of the other recent Italians I’ve tried. Poured with a lively tan head that quickly settled down almost none. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is malty, cassis, and a hint of the bacteria. Flavor’s similar to nose; not too complex. Body is a little thin and carbonation a bit sharp. Finish is like a slightly washed out flavor with alcohol and medium in length. Not worth the price at all.
3.7On tap at the Blind Tiger. Pours a hazed golden orange with a medium sized white head. Soft fruit and malt, light plastic. Medium bodied, fruity but light, soft and gently sweet. Really subtle, very fine carbonation. Gentle fruit and tang on the finish. Nice, and much better than I had anticipated.
3.0Bottle shared at Glouglouburps after Mondial tasting 2010. Possible old stale bottle. Opens with a nice pop but low on the gushing unlike the cerise. Pours a dull slight pinkish violet with dull brown hint - foamy cobwebby head diminishes slightly and a lively carbonations. Aroma of old stale fruits, old tomato-like cassis/red currant, soy oxidation with paper and cherry pit. Flavor is earthy, oxidation, light caramel, toast, slight acetic acid bite, mineral and pitty currants, red skins turn a bit astringent and more green leafy astringency and tomato leaf/pulp like and vegetal matter in the end- spicy minty almost black licorice hint in the end as well. Finish is lively but a bit astringent with a slight tart hint.
3.3Bottle at a tasting thanks to Rciesla and/or Dickinsonbeer.
Appearance : Hazy peach.
Aroma : Some oxidation, fruity sour notes. A bit tart.
Taste : Some oxidation, a bit tart with some fruits. Finish is woody with some oxidation.
Overall : I don’t know the age of this bottle but I bet it was a bit old.
3.7750ml bottle thanks to jleblanc, much appreciated. For some reason I expected the color to be dark but it was a hazy orange-ish color with a super foamy head. The smell was weird, grains and such. The flavor was also weird, not tart and yet not sweet. Berries and stuff but also grains like the aroma.

3.8Bottle@Home. Typical aroma, do I detect Brett? Well it’s smells like it. Tasting it is a complete different world. Sweet, full, fruity but luckily not too much Cassis, well hopped. Nice balance and out of the ordinary fruit beer. Good stuff.
2.3Purtroppo era infetta...povero me, speriamo bene di riuscire a riprovarla in forma. +1
3.82006 vintage 750ml bottle. effervescent sparkling gold, slightly cloudy. naturally carbonated, billowy tall head. slightly oxidized nose of black currant and grape jolly rancher, moderately sweet with heavy floral yeast present. floral spices up front turns more to semi-sweet grape and green apple jolly rancher (green apple?). delicate and soft carbonation joins with a dry and pillowy malt texture, finishing with a quiet note of apple spice and cassis. works really well when chilled but develops some flavors (mostly yeast) that don’t work so well when warmer. treat it like white wine, keep chilled.
2.2Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of vinegar and malt. The flavor is both sweet and sour and dominated by malt.
3.04th July 2008. A frothy and crisp beer. The blackcurrant is quite mild. Best when very cold. A little watery which detracts.
3.1Bottle @ Cole’s Italian Beer Tasting. Cloudy ruby brown body, thin head. Nose is appley, grapes, apple cider sludge and a small amount of nutmeg. Flavor is apples, some rich candied malt and a nice crispness provided by the carbonation. Reduced apple cider & a bit more sharpness in the finish.
3.6Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours slightly hazy amber with a bubbly 3-finger beige head. Mild black current aroma with a hint of herb. Suggests a belgian ale variant. Medium body with very frothy carbonation. Flavor starts very black current, then heads a bit towards citrus, then herb or wood, returning back towards bc. Interesting stuff. Not all that sweet, in fact hardly at all, finishing a bit acid/citric. Towards the end of the bottle I’m really liking it.
3.1[2408-20090801] Bottle. Roasted fruit and mild black currant aroma. Hazy, light orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. More black currant in the flavour with some woody hints. Medium body. Super fruity, odd but not too odd.

3.5Bottle, dated 1-2-06. Pours hazy orange with a huge, rocky, white head, lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, straw), light hop (grass), average yeast (earth) with notes of black currant and sugar. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.
3.1Amber with a thick white head. Fruity nose with tons of black currant. Flavor is fruity and sweet, tart and tangy with a mildly sour finish. Not bad for a fruit beer.
3.2Gold-amber. Huge, frothy, fast head. Aroma: Currant fruit and malt. Flavor: Berries, yeast, sweet. Sweet finish.
3.7Huge, chewy malts blend well with the strong currants in the aroma. Opaque straw coloured body is topped by a generous and very long lasting, fine bubbled white head that sticks well to the side of the glass. Currants are strong in the flavour but never overwhelm the round and bready malt character. Medium body with lovely soft bubbled strong carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle. Need to follow up on purchase date but it’s at least two years old.
3.3Stemware sample at local beer seminar. Poured a cloudy, orange/amber, with an off white, foamy head, and clingy lacing. Aroma was tangy, dark fruit and black currants. Flavor was tart fruit etc. as the nose. Medium body with high carbonation. Seems like it would be a nice dessert pairing.
3.4Nice amber coloured body with an orangish tint and a super-large off-white head. Aroma of black currants, malt, coriander seed, wheat and a ton of yeast. Medium-bodied; Sweet taste up front with some malt and black currant flavours roaming through. Aftertaste shows a sweet finish with the currant flavour roaming throughout. Overall, a decent beer - nothing horrible at all and some good flavours going through. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 06-January-2006.
3.4courtesy of Tony @ OTH.
On tap, pours amber with white head.
Aroma / taste, fruity (cassis), light hops and sugars. It does leave the light tart mouthfeel of the berry-cassis.
The cassis was really faint in taste, noticeable and made this brew a very enjoyable one.
3.5Bottle purchased at Bir & Fud, Roma. The colour is glowing orange with a huge off-white head. Prunes aroma, but other dark fruit, especially prums, as well. Vinous. The taste is sweet and fruity, yet still very well-balanced with vinous flavours. Blends well with caramel maltiness. Some raisiny traits towards the finish. Well-carbonated. Enjoyable.
2.875 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours dark orange with a white head. Solid butterish aroma. Light spiced and wineous fruity flavoured. Towards dry and spiced into the finish. Sad aroma, decent flavour.
2.3(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a very cloudy amber golden with a rough, dense, off-white head. Distinct butter aroma. Medium body with some sweet fruitiness. No bitterness. 311008
3.1Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] Huge creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Muddy golden color. Aroma of dusty grain, yeast, light fruit. Over the palate came sour raisins, wheat like notes. Light bodied with an average carbonation. Light sweet and acidic flavor. Light sour fruity finish.
3.8Bottle. Nose is sweet with light sour notes, light musk. Cloudy orange with huge white head, loads of carbonation and nice lacing. Flavor is sweet/sour, more grape and plum than current. The sour notes are in great compliment to the sweetness. This bottle might have spent a few years in a cellar, and is showing great balance. High carbonation but generally drinkable palate.
3.4Tasting - Perfect Pour. Dark hazed gold, creamy white head. Soft aromas of sour berry and black currants throughout. Sweet fruity black currant flavors balance on hints of dried red grape and citrus. Light bodied with zesty carbonation. Decent, but nothing to write home about...
