A hoppy, American-style pale ale made with Yakima Valley’s best hops. Bittered with Chinook, while dry-hopped with the snappy flavor and bite of Cascade hops. For hopheads only!

2.9Taste is pretty light and grainy with medium bitterness. Overall pretty good IPA.
3.1Tap at Charlottesville location. Flavor is floral right up front with slight grapefruit peel following. Mainly floral. OK.
3.2On tap @ BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. Pours a clear golden yellow. Big white foamy head. CItrus rind aroma. Not too harsh or bitter. OK but not great.
3.7Draft. Gold color with a white head and nice carbonation. Nice lacing as well. Citrus aroma with notes of caramel and resinous hops. Slightly bitter on the finish.
2.9On draft at BJ’s. Poured copper with white head. Sweet malt, caramel, light floral and citrus notes.
3.4On tap at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse (Short Pump, VA). Aromas of citrusy and resiny hops, some pine. Clear orange with a moderatey lasting white head. Dry, citrusy, pretty well balanced. Light-medium bodied.
1.6On tap at BJ’s in Lexington. Appearance was reddish yellow with very light head. Aroma was mostly malt (barley?). Terrible after taste and flat uninteresting palate. Extremely disappointing.
3.1Draught at the restaurant in Sunvalley shopping mall. Short white head. Clear golden color. Mild fresh peppermint hop aroma. A initial hard bitterness that the smoothly goes to a balanced bitterness with nice hop taste. Mild malty taste.
2.1Location: on tap at the brewpub
Appearance: Lighter golden. Small head of white bubbles
Nose: medium to lighter malt. Decent mild hops
Taste: Mildly hoppy with restrained floral hops
Body: Thinner and light
Parting thoughts: Seemingly a watered down version of a decent ale
2.9Man, where to start on this one? First it pours a crimson brown hue, translucent. Minimal nose. Taste has slight bitterness, light flowers and citrus rind. Begins with a sloppy feel, as it warms it becomes more enjoyable. Light body.
2.84-5 oz pour on draft at BJ’s (Gainesville, VA location) with a Mustang Sally yelling DCLawyer. Murky brownish orange with off-white head. Aromas of toasty notes, biscuit, light citrus. Tastes of citrus, toasty notes, biscuit, floral notes. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
2.7Sampled on draft at the Pittsburgh location this beer poured a bright orange color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was faint but sweetish with vague fruits. The flavor was tangy, sweet and vaguely fruity with hints of pine and cracker. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.
3.0Leckeres Helles Ale. Eigentlich eher unauffällig und leicht langweilig, man merkt aber die Berufung des Braumeisters. Kann man trinken, muss man aber nicht. BJ's hat auch ein tolles IPA, lieber mal das probieren!
3.9BJ’s Piranha Pale Ale is a pretty solid pale. Amber pour is a moderate hop aroma. Taste is fairly complex but not real bitter -- nice floral notes. Piranha is an enjoyable pale.
3.4Draught at BJ:s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Brea. Clear golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy bready aroma, grassy, hay, floral, biscuit, oranges, some peach. Hoppy grassy flavor, caramel, floral, oranges, some hay. Decent beer.
3.4Draft in a flight at the local brewpub. Pours a clear bright gold with a white head that laces the glass and settles into a film and ring. Notes of pineapple, lemon, grass, straw, pale and bready malts, florals, and melon. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, juicy, moderately bitter mouthfeel. Surprisingly good pale ale, and considerably better than the IPA.
3.3Taster in Florence - nose is resin. Sip adds more resin. Malty backbone and fairly bitter. Decent and inoffensive.
3.321st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Light golden pour with a full white crown of foam on top. Hop front with a malty backbone, I thought the blend of flavours married together well: mild fruitiness and mini citrus feel to the taste. This was the first beer I tried of the eight and a good, basic start to my tasting session. Not too sure where the "For hopheads only!" comes from?
3.0From site: A hoppy, American-style pale ale made with Yakima Valley’s best hops. Bittered with Chinook, while dry-hopped with the snappy flavor and bite of Cascade hops. For hopheads only!
2.4Had at the brewpub in San Antonio. Do I detect Simcoe? Same as others, has promise. Just needs the extra oomph from a fuller grain bill.
3.1[2/21/15] Draught at BJ’s Mission Valley in San Diego. Clear golden. Aroma is a bit grainy with citric hops. Sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, citric hops and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.
2.8Never have I met a beer so middle of the road. Nothing wrong with this one at all, really nothing. Nothing stand out either. I could drink a bunch of these and hardly notice I was drinking beer at all. "for hop heads only..." really? I will not complain here, because I detect nothing I don’t like. Thing is, I detect almost nothing at all!
3.3(tap) clear, bright light amber colour with a small beige head; aroma of malt, lemon; flavour like a lemonade with a long medium bitter finish, bit strange
3.1Ok. Clear copper pour with minimal head, but strong lacing from what it does have. Around is grainy. Taste is grain and some citrus in the background.
3.0Keg at BJs, Gainesville, VA. Pours a clear golden with a medium sized frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of floral, citrus, tinny hops, grainy malt. The taste is grassy, citrus hops and pale malt. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.
3.2Mild orange peel and malt nose. Clear amber, medium head, good lacing. Orange peel flavor. Medium body, frothy mouthfeel. One note, but no off flavors.
3.8A rare night out with the wife, and we made our first trip to BJs, with the aid of a $50 birthday gift card, it was nice to get beers and 2 big steaks and only have to pay about $23. Got a flight of 4 beers and this was by far the best. It was pretty good overall, clean, light bodied and nicely hoppy. Here’s the notes I made: Citrusy hops, clean with a fair bit of bitterness. Cracker malts. Golden color. Lingering grapefruit and orange peel at the finish,

3.3Rated on 02-20-2013 at BJ’s in Jacksonville, FL. This draft beer is presented with a small ivory head that mostly diminishes, transparent golden body, very little carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is citrus, pine hops, earthy, and malt. The flavor is moderately bitter, pine hops and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this is a hop head beer with a lingering bitter aftertaste.
3.0Tap at the Westwood Brewhouse.
My sojourn though the zymurgical wasteland surrounding UCLA continues with a trip to BJ’s. Light copper pour, sparse white head. Bit of c-hop on the nose, decent flavor after the Sapporo that preceded it. Exactly what one would expect of a corporate chain "brewpub".
