Blatz

Blatz beer is everything Val Blatz himself was - bold, determined, innovative, and new to the country. Blatz still retains its heritage of fine American beer made with German craftsmanship. Brewed with the finest six row barley our country can grow, Blatz marries old world Gumeiklekeit with new world creativity. Next time the barkeep asks what brand you want, ask for Milwaukee’s Finest Beer - Blatz!

1.2 12 oz can thanks ??? to family. Pours a clear light golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have grainy, corn, malts, skunk, grass, metallic notes, just not something I would ever think of doing again.
2.5 Saved up a good one for #1000. Do you have any idea what it took to hunt this down? Had to import it...from Fort Wayne. Pours a clear straw gold with a thick eggshell head that settles slowly and barely laces. Nose involves some faint corn and noble hop spice along with some dusty sourdough. Somewhat sweet, just a bit bitter. Light bodied, oily, somewhat syrupy, softer action, with a tacky corny finish. You know what, fuck it, this isn’t a bad beer. OK, maybe it is a bad beer, but it’s not bad. Quenches a thirst, provides an example of an old-time beer, and gives you the opportunity to commune with your dead grandfather without drinking Hamm’s, although I may have to try Hamm’s. World class shitty beer.
1.6 Drank a lot of this in college too. Not much here other than old grain and old hops. Somewhat dirty, but cheap.
1.8 It's exactly what I expect. Flavor is mostly sweet corn. For the price it is what it is supposed to be. If you get this expecting some great beer...come on its a cheap beer and it tastes like a good ole cheap beer to drink while fishing or camping.
1.0 12oz can pours. It does have an odor. It tastes much better than one would expect. Until tomorrow ;-)
1.9 Just an awful beer all around. Finest barley my ass. This is skunky flavored and gives me the worst gas. Had at the best kitchen.
3.2 Can at Oakwood Lounge in Pewamo, MI. It has been too long since I’ve had you. The next time will not be as long. You always remember your first love. I feel like I’ve turned my back on you. I hope you don’t feel this way. I love you.
1.6 12 oz. can shared by Steve. I expected an old fashioned Wisconsin grandpa beer and that’s what this is. Grainy, fizzy, malty, a little skunky and harsh. Light-bodied with medium-plus carbonation. Just not good.
1.9 Can (trade with Patrickctenchi for an Against the Grain Bo & Luke). Corn syrup and sour barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with giant, fluffy head. Sweet corn syrup, hay, and barley malt flavor. Okay for a pale lager - just a bit too sweet.
1.8 12oz bottle-Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma of corn. Taste of the same with a small amount of hops. This light bodied brew is another pale lager.
2.4 Clear, light gold with a giant, white cloud of a head. Light, sweet corn malt aroma. Typical, old school American blue-collar beer taste. Dad used to drink this....40 odd years ago...This and Stroh’s were my first stolen sips as a young lad....When I saw it, I HAD to get it....and I’m glad I did. Absolutely nothing wrong with it for what it is. Definitely worth $3.99 a sixer.
1.0 Not a very good beer super light awful can in Cleveland at Indians game, old people may like this
0.5 Probably the worst beer I’ve ever drank. Tastes like motor oil in a can and for some reason gives me a headache every time.
0.5 Old dirty dishes, trash, jockstrap on the nose. San pellegrino soaked in dirty laundry on the mouth. Blech.
2.5 Aroma is light citrus, yeast and grains. The flavor is malts, slightly metallic and a mildly tart finish.
1.3 Draft. Pours a clear, pale gold. Not much in way of aroma. Taste of grains and skunk. Light bidied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and no finish. Iverall, not cery good.
1.3 Another oldtimer that was less than stellar way back when and hasn’t improved much with age.
3.1 Blatz has a thick, white head and a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, with minimal associated lacing. The aroma is of sweet, musty grains, and the flavor is of grass, sweet grain, and a touch of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Blatz finishes crisp and dry. Overall, this is very good, and I recommend giving it a try. RJT
1.9 Plain, but okay. A good, standard "old man beer" if ever there was one. Folks I know classify this with brews like PBR, Stroh’s, and Schlitz - decent, basic beers that are affordable, "taste like beer," and are better than malt liquors or crap like bud lite. Unoffensive but not tasteless - you get a touch of malt and a hint of hops to go with your corn/adjunct. If one were to rate all American-style macros, this would likely be somewhere in the type third or quarter. A problem is that it is only available here in 15-packs of cans.
1.8 So this is a thing now. I haven’t seen this in Chicago yet, so I’m guessing it’s some initiative to introduce more sub brands to the market. It’s a bit more expensive than PBR, but on tap for about $2. It’s fairly innocuous: mild straw and vinyl taste. Quite unforgettable. Cheap. Lots of sugar corn flavor.
1.1 Aroma of overcooked vegetables. Check. Weak piss yellow sickly hue. Check weak slightly semi-so sweet corny body with a dirty clumsy finish. Check. You are holding a Blatz. So sorry.
2.0 Can at Reggie’s. Another of the old school, granddad brands. Pale yellow with a dissipating head. Nose is corny and generic, but in a good way. Reminds me of the smell of ’beer.’ On taste, pretty robust flavor profile, soft pils notes and some maize. Soft bitterness. Nothing showy, but not bad at all.
2.5 I have good memories of drinking this from my grandfather’s glass. It had a beautiful gold color and lots of bubbles, forming a thick, tall white head. It no longer has this impressive appearance, but the flavor is what I remember. It has some corn with a dry maltiness. Served cold, it isn’t bad at all. Much lower carbonation than I remember, and no thick, tall, head. Actually it tastes better straight from the can.
2.0 Can. Poured clear pale color with a medium frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet grainy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of short to moderate duration. My expectations where met with a below average beer.
2.4 (can - 12 oz) Clear golden pour color with a fizzy white head. Malty and sweet aroma with a light grassy note. Lightly sweet at the front with a very mild grassy and corn middle. Smooth finish and very easy to drink.
1.9 Enjoyed on tap at Frank’s Power Plant in Milwaukee, WI, where my band played a show. For my 5th beer of the night, this one was perfect as it was pretty light. One of those "I’m about to have too many so I’ll get this instead" beers. Appearance fizzy yellow beer with white head. Aroma not really much there, generic lager smell. Taste is actually smooth for a mass produced lager, not much other than hay/straw. Not bad though....had this again at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL while watching 7000 Dying Rats (the band). This tasted like a mixture between stale and moldy bread, and water. Man was it bad. I guess on tap is the way to go!
1.6 Wasser. Better than Miller or Budweiser though. It is a light tasting lager with a noticeable adjunct coating.
2.1 Once, when younger, this was my "go to" brew. Absolutely standard micro brew, but the name was interesting!
2.8 Strangely enough, last night brought to me my first even bottle of Blatz beer. It’s a Milwaukee legend, been established for over 150 years I think. Forgive me beer.
1.8 Poured pale yellow with actually a decent head that faded to a frothy lace. Aroma was mainly of corn and with a slight malt and sweetness in the background. Taste was primarily of corn/adjunct grains with a twinge of malt and a light hop and slightly sour bite finish. Palate was OK but a bit thin. Overall, a typical macro brewed at Miller for Pabst. I wonder how close this stuff is to the orginal Blatz formula??? I have a hard time believing that Val Blatz would have been proud of this stuff. However, for the price I can see why this stuff is on the shelves.
