Blaugies Bière Darbyste

Blaugies Bière Darbyste

Ale brewed with fig juice. A traditional style named for John Darby, preacher of temperance whose parishioners were oddly moved by a "soft drink" they insisted was just fig juice...

3.8 Clear amber color with medium frothy off-white head. Aroma has sweet fruity notes, yeast, some vinegar and malt. Taste is fruity with long quite bitter aftertaste. Flavors of sweet dried fruits, yeast, malt and some other funky elements. Nice mouthfeel.
3.2 Copenhagen 9/6 2020. 75 cl corked bottle from Kvickly, Allerød. Yellow-ish label with drawing of an old farm house with a horse and a cart with beer barrels. very rustic. Very gushy upon opening. Pours hazy, golden yellow with a medium-sized, bubbly white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is very saison-like. Medium intense with a citric and yeasty odor. Sweet malts, citrus, citrus. Hints of apple juice and black pepper. Earthy touch. Light carbonation. Sightly thick, oily, almost flat texture. Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate tart, sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish with an underlying tart bitterness. Finish is fairly dry. Saison-like - but not all there. Nicely balanced - but a bit flat.
3.4 Bottle 0.75l from De Blaugies Brewery feom visit in October. Taste at home, 23.05.2020. Pour it slighlty hazy golden color with small white head. Aroma funky, green apples, clove and spicy. Taste malty, funky citrusy, spicy, clove, light fig juice, lots of apples, not maybe good batch for sure but still pretty interesting, medium body, astringent finish.
4.0 Apparently made with fig juice. Not sure i can pick that out. Fruity and spicy. Very much like their saison beers. A nice drink on a warm day. Id buy again.
2.4 Bof acide pas mon genre
3.3 a bit disappointing probably not a fresh bottle more apple than figs , dusty lack of balance, weak acidity
3.3 Bevuta in bottiglia. Bionda belga rifermentata in bottiglia. Leggera acidità finale. Particolare.
3.1 75 cl fles. Troebel amber/oranje bier met rotsachtig wit schuim. Geur: brood, fruitig, perzik, vijg, kruidige gist, klein zuurtje. Smaak: licht zoetzurig, wat hopbitterheid, floraal, wat grassig, fruitig, pruim, vijg, ietwat honing. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: droog.
3.4 A dark orange to light amber pour, transparent, slightly hazy on second pour. Medium sized (not that big per style) dense white head, good retention and hints of lacing. Pretty strong aroma has a dominant fruity base of green apple and fig, a touch of underlying sugary sweetness, some spicy/prickly hints, plus some rustic/earthy and grassy notes that showcase a bit of saison-like character. Overall vivid and clean. Taste is still vivid and clean though not as complex as the smell suggested. Sweet in both taste and aftertaste with a bit of residual sugary sweetness and the slightest hint of sourness, fruity notes of green apple and fig get really dominant, while the saison/rustic character gets really subdued. Taste is overall pleasant but quite onedimensional. Light to medium bodied with an average to high sort of soft carbonation and a bit of juice-like feel. The beer was overall pleasant, but quite monotonous after while; probably not something i would look for again.
3.7 On tap at Haandgemeng. A hazy orange-golden beer with a white head leaving some lacing. The aroma has a faint funk touch and notes of lemon, with generic fruityness doing most of the work. Bread, some orange and grapefruit, hints of coriander and yeast chiming in. It's quite dry on the palate, nicely carbonated and full-bodied, with mostly fruity flavors. Some barnyard-ish, lemony funk too. Hints of horse blanket, and a long fruity finish. The fig juice is quite subdued, but it's a fine brew indeed. 171027
3.6 Draught at Moeder Lambic. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, earthy notes, ripe fruits, spices and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, hops, earthy notes, spices, earthy notes and ripe fruits. Very nice saison.
3.4 On tap @ Taplokaal Gist, Utrecht. Hazy orange with a white head. Malty fruity aroma with some farmhouse funk. Taste is medium bitter with a dry finish. Didn't get much of the figs to be honest but it still is a quaint atypical beer in the best Belgian tradition.
3.6 Fofa, hazy golden with a medium head. Nose and flavor are grass, yeast, figs, earth, and other sweet fruit. Medium in body.
3.9 Schiuma bianca densa e abbondante, di media persistenza. Color rame, opaca, limpida. Aroma: stalla, agrumi, lattiginoso, banana, fichi, chiodi di garofano, pepe. Al gusto prevale il dolce, poi umami. Sul finale un acidità media. Corpo e carbonazione medi. Buona birra sufficientemente complessa e intensa, in perfetto stile Saison.
3.5 Bottle at home. Cloudy golden body with a medium white head. Spices, yeast, slight tartness or so, heavy carbonation. Decent.
Pijalne, fajne.
3.7 On tap at Dr. Beer, Antwerpen. Hazy golden to amber, oily. Small head. Yeasty aroma, slightly funky, spicy, peppery, vegetal. Light caramel malts. Dried fruits, I wouldn't say figs, maybe raisins. Oily texture, smooth, banana bread, spice, lots of cloves in the finish. Appetizing. Moderate finish, light to a medium body. Very light bitterness. Calm and gentle.
3.7 Orange-gold pour, medium white head. Fig, yeast, banana, raisin, apricot, with some apple in the flavor.
3.7 Bottle. Color: Slightly reddish hazy golden, huge frothy off-white head. Aroma: Malt, fruity, yeast. Taste: Saison-ish yeasty, moderate sweet and moderate sour. Fruity notes of figs and some apple, green apple skin and herbal hints. Moderate bitterness at finish. Long lasting finish. Dry-ish mouthfeel. Under medium to medium body, just below average carbonation. Nice pretty complex traditional Belgian Ale.
3.7 Sunday, March 31, 2019. Bottle, 75cL. 5.8%. Purchase ("Cave de Jaby", Saint André-La-Marche (49), FR). Shared with my dad and Cyril. Home. A yellow-orange light opaque beer with a big white foamy head ; good retention ; ok lacing. Noble hop smell, light herb-hay, rustic character, lemon notes. Medium dry refreshing acid, light sweet, bitter note. Light to medium body, light to medium texture, average gaseous, herbal acid wild lasting finish. Overall, good ! Nice !
3.7 Bottle. Blurred yellow color, lush white foam. Aroma: soft, malt, fruity, little flowers, grass, yeast, old beer. Taste: malt, a little wild, apple, other fruits, apple seeds, light bitterness, a little sweets, good beer.
3.2 Bottle at Castlegate. It pours hazy orange with a small white head. The aroma is spicy, dried fruits, cereal, nougat, doughy bread, straw and hay. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, spicy, dull fruit juice, dull, dried fig, cereal, dull apple and pear with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Not much depth. Alright.
3.4 From bottle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Clear golden color with white head. Malty and yeasty aroma, grainy, dusty, light spicy, light fruity, wood. Sweet and light bitter taste. Light to medium oily body with average carbonation.
3.5 (yeast, ~lime, foin, terre, ~cuir, herbe, moussue-~ronde (joli sucre (figues)), foin-yeast, amer-herbée, last dry, fin terre)
3.6 A sample at a beer tasting at Lucky's Market in Jackson Wy. Pours a hazy orange gold with a big off white head. Aroma of figs and malt. Flavors are sweet fruit.
3.7 375ml bottle. Pours lightly hazed mid golden with a loose white head. Aroma: bready malts, hay, yeast, spices, herbal. Taste: light sweet & bitter, light to moderate acidic, dry, yeasty spices, woody, earthy, lemon, white grapes, green apple skin funk. Medium body, loose carb, spritzy mouthfeel, dry close. I honestly thought this was a saison!
3.5 Seems I forgot to write a review when trying this. It was probably at One Pint Pub. And pretty good.
3.6 Amber with a lacy head. Pours well from the bottle with a bit of fizz. Aroma is a bit hat and spice. Taste is light malt, quite dry with that familiar ester taste lurking in the background. Decent, but prefer La Moneuse and La Vermontoise.
