Block 15 Sticky Hands IPA - The Hop Experience Ale

This Hop Experience Ale features ample additions of sticky, resinous, lupulin packed hop buds grown in the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy a hop decrescendo that begins with an aromatic blast of tropical fruits, citrus and dank herbs; transitions into luscious hop flavor; and ends with a balanced bitter finish, gently propped up by pale malted barley and fermented with our privately banked Brewers yeast.

3.7 16 oz can from Beer Mongers in Portland. Can't find a date. Aroma is chalky candy, cantaloupe, citrus peel, lemon, faint pineapple, faint passionfruit, faint caramel, faint garbage. Pours slightly hazy golden with a one finger bone-white head with decent retention. Taste is moderate to highly bitter with flavors of pithy grapefruit, pine. Perfect mouthfeel and carbonation. Overall, it seems a little underwhelming compared to its reputation.

3.4 Can. Thanks, Red. Fruity, citrusy nose, with some pine, a bit dank and somewhat barnyardy. Clear pale straw color, thin filmy head. Smooth resiny initial, with very ripe sort of stone fruit, and caramel. Medium-heavy body. Slightly dank and pleasant.
3.7 Draught @ Sori Taproom, Helsinki. Pours orange with a small head. Aroma of caramely malts, not that fresh fruity hoppiness, pine, grass and citrus. Taste is sweet, hoppy and fruity with some tropical notes, pine, citrus and grass. Finish is sweet, tropical fruity and citrusy with some pine, grass and sweetish malty notes. Okay, but unfortunately not very fresh.

3.9 8 3 8 4 16 Draft at Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Fairly hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma of fruity hops, tropical fruits, peach, grapefruit, lychee, caramel malt and light citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.9 Can. Light hazy deep orange liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, mango, tangerine, light caramel, weed and light pine. Taste is very light sweet and medium bitter with notes of mango, citrus, light grain and light weed. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. This has probably been a damn good beer. Feels a bit dull and old, but the malt base is nice and soft, hop profile is balanced and not burny at all. Tasty beer still even. About four months old at the time of consumption sadly. This is not New England but still not old school and goopy, caramel mess.
4.7 Pint can pours hazy light amber. Short-lived 1” off-white head with moderate to strong lacing. Hoppy citrus forward and sweet followed with lingering bitter and slight sticky mouthfeel. Slight alcoholic well-balanced warmth. Slight prickly effect. Overall wonderful well-balanced super-hoppy IPA. Would like less sticky aftertaste mouthfeel. Sticky hands ok, sticky mouth not as much.

3.7 Color dorado anaranjado, ligeramente turbio, con capa de espuma blanca de tres dedos de grosor y buena retención. Carbonatación media. Textura oleosa. Aroma a cítricos, pino, malta caramelizada suave, resina, toques herbales. Sabor a cítricos, naranja, pomelo, pino, malta caramelizada que aporta ligero dulzor, toques herbales y resina. 4.2 From a pint can into a stem glass. Pours gold with head and lace. Aroma of pine, grains, freshly cut grass, ganja, grapefruit zest. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, pale malt, pine sap, straw hops, bitter herbs, white grapefruit rind. Overall big, rich, juicy, a bit rough (enamel remover) but tasty for a hop head! ***** The above review is from 2/15/2018. Here we are years later and they've really nailed this flavor and drinkability. Overall a really delicious brew without the nasty bitterness of a few year ago. Another please!

3.4 Can from Boxbeers. Pours unclear orange with a white head. Dank and resinous aroma with some cake batter and light, oily pine needles. Taste is pretty subdued with some malty cake batter, a bit of resin and a slightly bitter caramelised zest finish. Canned 13/11-17 so not THAT old, but still needs to be fresher.

4.4 4/1/2017 -- from notes: 16oz can, thanks to Brian M. Canned 3/06/17. Big resiny dank hop aroma, dank like weed, herbal and earthy. Awesome. Hazy orange-golden color. Thin white head, leaves good bits of lace. Bigger bitter taste, lighter sweet, kind of dry finish, little bit of warmth. Medium-plus body, not heavy nor slick nor sticky like many stronger IPAs can be. Comes off as an aggressive IPA, doens't have the heavier malt of a DIPA. Malt character takes a back seat to the huge, unique hop. Hints of citrus - pineapple, orange mix in brightly with the cannabis-like hop character. Smooth, kind of creamy texture. Nice, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Pretty easy-drinking. Awesome to enjoy with my leftover pesto pasta. Indeed, one of the most satisfying hop experiences I've ever had. I would buy this regularly if I could.
