2.5 *Labeled agave blonde ale*. Not horrible but the aroma is quite weak! Pours ok - gold w/ a tiny white head & spotty lacing. The body is decent & pleasant on the palate. The taste is fairly bland & I’m not getting much from the agave. It’s a typical run of the mill summer fluff beer!
3.5 355ml bottle from The Beer Cellar 171013. As with all of the Blue Moon beers I have had this one is quite good. Faint sweetness in the background and even though the body is a bit thin and wispy in the mouth it still goes down a treat.
2.9 This is a descent beer. Nothing special but its just a nice crisp beer with enough flavour to make it interesting.
2.3 Ok, for those several people who know nothing about fermentation and somehow find themselves reading some random asshole’s opinion of a Blue Moon seasonal: adding agave nectar to the beer you brew would not make it sweeter. It ferments into alcohol. Adding sugar be it hone, agave nectar, just straight out sugar or whatever, actually makes it more dry. Anyway, in case you couldn’t guess, my main problem w/ this beer is it’s kind of sweet and hence kind of gross because there is no flavor to play off the sweetness. It does at least pour a nice golden color and has a nice ring of head but the appearance is really the best thing about it. There is nothing really wrong w/ the nose though. It’s unexceptional w/ sort of a cut hay and grain husk thing going on. If it weren’t oddly sweet, this would be pretty much in line w/ any cheap American beer w/ it’s mild flavor and crisp carbonation. Instead, this has an exaggerated sugary malt sweetness. It is not over-the-top or anything but enough that each sip is marred by this lingering saccharine note on the tongue. It is actually disappointing because my first impression of the aroma lead me to think this might be a halfway decent beer.
3.0 Well, it’s not terrible. Had a bottle at home. Pours a nice color for a wheat, actually. Had an orange/ coppery tint and a decent head. Bit of haze to it, nice cabonation. The agave kind of ruins it- too strong. I suppose mass produced beers have to play to the sweet loving palate. The wheat is actually nice. Needs some hoppiness. And finish is strange. Almost decent.
3.0 12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold, with a big, bubbly, off-white head. The aroma is honey, melons, strong floral notes, and some light esters. Very sweet flavor, with little balance. Light to medium body, slightly creamy, and a little acerbic. Overall, this is a pretty nice, flavorful, and drinkable beer, but it comes across a little too strong on the fruity aromas, and is much too sweet.
2.8 Just a little bit higher then average whet ale. I’m not a fan of agava so this aroma was not for me. Overall, drinkable and refreshing
3.1 Bottle. Tastes sweet, malty, like light fruit and cucumber. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like cool crisp cucumber and malt.
3.7 BBD 8/25/14. Clear light amber (golden) pour with a fair head and lacing. Retention is normal. Light aroma of biscuit and wheat over a slight honey sweetness. Light medium body with a not quite smooth texture. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is rather nice in a subtle fashion and well balanced. It begins with biscuit then flows into a subtle agave sweetness. The finish is smooth.
2.1 From bottle. Moderate gold color, no head. Nondescript nose. Nondescript taste. Didn’t get much from the agave. Must not have plunked the right citrus fruit into the glass.
1.2 Was expecting more from the agave, nothing much seems to be going on here. Macro brewery crap
2.8 Bottle. Deep golden color, clear, medium head with light lacing that fades quickly. Malty aroma. Medium body with a slight sweet aftertaste.
2.5 12oz bottle at my sisters. Pours a clear golden color with a thick frothy off white head. Aroma of yeast, sweet grain, plastic, and honey. Taste is grainy and yeasty, with notes of honey and sweet fruit.
1.9 DATE TASTED: February 22, 2014... GLASSWARE: Weihenstaphaner weizen .. OCCASION: final night to cheer on our winter Olympians... APPEARANCE: copper-gold body with uneven effervescence; thin, off-white head presents no immediate thickness; no tracing = not inviting... AROMA: pungent,, malty; tougher to pick out thee agave--comes across more as a candied apple...PALATE: a bit dry; slight, oily mouthfeel--drinkable but indistinguishable...TASTE: tangy, metallic aftertaste; malty, syrupy sweet; some fruity, lemony wheatgrass too; rather bland, however, like an original Blue Moon that got itself confused at the factory... OVERALL: I feared this review--not interested in slamming tonight--and yet the beer did not repulse as its first summer sampling had--only wet my lips and slightly refreshed my thirst...did the delayed rating weaken its taste? ...
2.0 A little sweet from the agave not much else going on. Typical crap from a macro brewery pretending to be a micro.
1.9 It poured a golden color. The aroma was of honey and wheat. The taste was more sweet honey with wheat and biscuits.
2.8 Bottle sample at a tasting at the Maierovicz’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Clear blond. Sweet, malt and agave-like aroma, sweet, a little spicy taste. Medium body, sweet finish.
2.2 Bottle. Pours pale gold with minimal head. Nose was hopcitrus, mild agave. Light palate heft and complexity, with some hops, pale malt, and a smidgen of tequila flavor. Meh.
2.0 This brew is extremely underwhelming. There’s surprisingly little taste. The agave nectar creates a bit of sweetness but that’s about all there is to say about it. Certainly not a full-flavored beer but at least it’s not offensive. That’s more than you can say of some of Blue Moon’s other beers.
2.2 Sweet and wheaty mixed together don’t really work for me. The beer is much sweeter than others of this line, and it just isn’t good.
3.0 Bottle, bought in shop at Fort Lauderdale, FL. Nice beer on a "summer day" in Florida in January! :-)
2.1 Nice fresh beer, strong wheat flavor but the agave taste very weak... Not a big fan of Weizen beers but this one is just OK for a while.
2.7 Bottle. A- Orange, agave, wheat. A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Orange, subtle agave, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Not much difference from a normal Blue Moon. Slightly sweet and lacking a lot of flavor.
2.9 If I had all the money back I’ve wasted on blue moon and like products, I could go buy something really, really nice for myself this holiday. I keep buying them, they keep being around average, and I keep wanting to move on to the next beer. So agave nectar, may you be the last blue moon I waste my 1.50 on. Clear golden yellow with a large white head. Aroma of agave, salt, lime and toasted malt. Taste is sweet and salty with lime, wheat, malt and spices.
2.0 Bottle sample at a tasting at the Maierovicz’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Clear golden. Aroma of cardboard, a bit of fruitiness and some spiciness. Sweet flavor with cardboard, spiciness and a bit of fruitiness (a bit citric). Rather light-bodied.
2.0 Tap, pour is hazy yellow, aroma sweet, is a herbal wheaty and definitely the agave comes through and it doesnt really help, not for me,
2.5 Bottle: Shimmering golden pour, good clarity with lots of tiny bubbles, and a fizzy white head. Nose is malty, sort of grassey, and a little sweet. At first sip, I’m taken back in awe of the sweetness. A little grassey and some hints of malt; it gets a tiny bit metallic before ending in a rush of sweetness. Must be the agave nectar... I’ve had agave before, but this is way sweeter than I recall. Where is the malt or wheat to balance this out? Too sweet.
1.9 Not quite was I was expecting. Smell and appearance are ok, but taste is a bit off, and tastes kind of doughey. Not a fan.
2.5 Bottle 355 ml Aroma: frontal sweetens with slight green herbal hop , mild fruity citrus hinted elements. Touch of pear and honey (agave?). Apperance: poured as blend of gold with pale amber. Light white top , sparse lace on glass. Decent.3+ Taste/Palate etc. medium bodied with thin walls. Lighter carbonation. Malty front, touch of caramel with unfermented sugars. Bready backing. Peach with slight herbal hop hints at end. In the middle of what I expected.
