3.8Pours dark brown with off-white head. Aroma of malts, spices, cinnamon. Flavor was Christmas in a bottle. Roasted and sweet malts paired with traditional spices and a hop bitterness. A bit carbonated, but very tasty.
2.912 ounce bottle. Pours a clear amber with an average off-white head. Mild aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is malt, brown sugar, fruit and spices. Kind of surprised. Decent.
3.1On Tap at Summits. Pours a pleasant dark brown with a lasting head. Aroma of roasted malts. A nice wintertime beer but it lacks body and character.
4.4A great beer for the winter time. Certainly reminds me of a bock type beer and you can certainly taste the roasted malt on your palate and the finish. A great bouquet and great tasting beer.
2.1Smells similar to smidthwicks. Rotten apples, iron and malts are foremost. Pours deep hazel with a pretty but small head. Tastes of malts, balsamic vinegar, and finishes with a little cocoa. Not repeatable.
2.8Could use more body and a more rounded flavor. As it is, it’s lightly malty with spices and goes down smooth.
2.812 ounce bottle pours a dark amber with a decent head. Had aromas of spice, caramel and sweet malts. Not too much flavor of spice comes through, and a rather sweet winter beer.
0.9Tastes a whole hell of a lot more like bad cola than an Abbey Ale. Spoiled malt flavor, and that hint of sugar is more like a kick to the balls. Not that Blue Moon is a pantheon of quality beermaking, but this horrid mess should embarrass even them. (12/08)
2.7Rich dark amber color; Medium body; Aroma of malt, & some spice; Flavor of light roasted malt, caramel, some fruit (notably cherries), and spice; Overall, a bit light - but decent.
2.5I typically give this one a shot every winter to see if it’s going to change. I like blue moon but this one just docent have the taste
1.6No where near as full bodied or thick as Belgian Ales, aroma of spices similar to a witbier. Rather thin and uninteresting, should be much more malty.
2.6Draft. Clear brown pour with a lot of white head. Nose is nutmeg, bread malt and caramel with slight citrus and other spices not unlike pumpkin pie. tast is the same, too sweet, sweetness overpowers everything else.
3.2pretty solid beer. Blue Moon makes a good beer - nothing special but it’s an easy to drink beer that has wide availablity.
2.4Pours a clear dark amber with thin head, aroma of sweet malt and hints of spices and fruit, flavor is overall boring and nothing special but not terrible at the same time. Pass.
2.8Clear brown pour with a foamy head. Light nutty malt and sweet fruit aroma with a touch of spice. Flavor is a bit too sweet, but not bad. Meh.
2.1Some what heavy beer, although easy to drink, pours quite dark, decent flavour, ok beer.
3.3Decent winter that doesnt match up to the winter abbey. overall good beer.
2.8Tap @ Timbers, Denver, CO. Pours dark brown with a creamy head. Aroma of malt, nuts, wheat. Taste is lightly spices, caramel and brown sugar. Medium body. Okiesh. 281110
2.5Dark brow-amber color with beige head. Aroma of grain, nuts, and sugar with malty, sweet, somewhat spice flavor
3.0Nice, affordable offering from Coors. Very drinkable - pours a clear amber with moderate head, mostly diminishing. Nothing great, but not bad. Sessionable for sure.
2.4Pours a deep redish brown with a nice thick tan head. Aroma of malt and wheat. Taste is slightly roasty. Finish is a little off. Kind of a carbonated after taste.
2.6A light red/brown brew with a thin tan head. Corn scent. Taste is better than the smell but not by much. Drinkable
2.3Mostly clear brown, dark oranges poke through where light penetrates while a white collar manages to linger for the whole show. Nothing out of the ordinary or extraordinary in his visage, but I find quite a bit to relish in his nose. Brown sugar and maple dazzle, melba toast crunches, and red apples are sliced into quarters right before my eyes. The sweet aroma of apple juices and the crisp, slightly bitter crunch of the skins demand some caramel for dipping. Instead, I dip my lips deep into his awaiting body. Gently sweet with a decent weight, maple and apple mingle atop my tongue while cinnamon sticks and brown sugar sprinkles lead me into a crunchy burnt melba toast finish. His cinnamon does a decent job of lingering in the finish while my palate dries only slightly for an overall easy quaffing winter ale experience.
I wasn’t expecting Full Moon to bowl me over with anything new and exciting, but I was pleased to find a Winter Ale that offered a decent array of aromas and flavors associated with the winter season in general. Much like the original Blue Moon, he is a good stepping stone to get the curious beer drinker off their laurels and out exploring the world of flavorful beer diversity.
2.1Dark brown pour with some ruby highlights. Not much in the way of a head....but it is light tan. Looks like a Belgian but doesn’t pour as thick, nor does the head have the staying power. So.....low sugar, low carbonation. Already not so good. Nose is pretty much caramel corn. Flavor is typically domestic....a sweet, malty caramel flavor....nuances of corn and brown sugar. Finishes semi-bitter with hints of burnt sugar. Thin and watery for a Belgian knock-off attempt. Not a winter warmer in the least. Not enough ingredients to produce a quality product.
2.0Part of the winter sample pack at World Market. Some where in between Dopplebock and Belgian ale. Sort of works and sort of doesn’t, but I won’t say it is bad. Serving: Bottle
1.5Nose is sweet and spicy, taste is way too sweet, like a low grade belgian candy sugar.
3.1Tonight I had Blue Moon’s Full Moon and I believe it is actually the same recipe for the Abbey Ale I enjoyed many years ago.
It pours a clear reddish-orange and is topped by a thin ivory head. Smells lightly spicy and fruity.
It tastes lightly metallic. Some candy sugar flavor, some estery flavors. Is a bit sticky in the mouth but finishes cleaner than you would expect.
Don’t expect your typical Belgian abbey but it’s pretty good stuff.
3.1Dark Belgian; typical peppery malt flavor of a winter ale. ABV was a bit surprising to me
3.7Blue moon full moon winter ale has a well rounded taste and sits on the tongue with a hoppy, earthy flavor
2.912 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with a moderate off-white head that faded away by the second sip and left no lace. Very, very light aroma of malt and perhaps a hint of brown sugar. The flavor is fairly benign with mild malt and a bit of brown sugar sweetness. There’s really nothing in this beer that would leave you with the impression that it has any Belgian influence, but it is not a bad beer by any stretch as it is. It just suffers from bad parenting (MillerCoors).
