2.9 12oz bottle from a Topps store in Hamburg, NY. An attractive reddish amber pour with a fast fading cream head; rich, sweet, caramel body with a dry malty finish. Not bad as an Amber Ale, but I was expecting more of the orange, which is only present as a gentle aftertaste. Perfectly rinkable, but could be much better with some more oranges.
3.3 From BA review rated on 2-20-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance –A light copper mixed with amber color. It formed a huge white head upon pouring which lasted with some persistence, leaving a little bit of lacing. Smell – Mainly malty in nature with some nice biscuit and caramel aromas. While those are the heavier aromas, there is a little bit of orange citrus aroma in it the smell as well that is more prevalent toward the end of the smell. Taste – Sweet malt is present up front. It consists of a mix of breadiness and some orange as well. The citrus and a bit of more bitter lemon seem to come into play more toward the end of the flavor profile. These citrus and lemon taste lessen the presence of the maltiness originally present, but leave a very nice taste in the mouth. Mouthfeel –A medium bodied brew with a lighter level of carbonation. Very normal, but not bad. Overall – This brew has a nice citrus and malt flavor, but lacks some complexity. It is very easy to drink and definitely not a bad brew. Well worth a try and one I hope Blue Moon keeps in the rotation.
2.9 Pours amber. Aroma is malt, Caramel, honey. Flavor is sweet with a lightly spiced hop flavor. Not bad but needs more rich, hearty malt flavor in my opinion.
3.0 Fizzy, honey medium brown appearance. Slight floral, malty aroma. Taste is a touch of citrus, touch of wheat, but mostly floral malt.
3.0 I was surprised by this. Copper pour with white head. Aroma musty malt. Taste sour and sweet. Orange is there but minimal.
3.0 The appearance has a clear light copper color and a large slightly off-white head that fades fairly quickly, and the aroma bread yeast, doughy malts, and a hint of caramel maltiness. The taste mildly sour, slightly sweet, and a touch umami, and the palate fuses an average carbonation, medium body, slick texture, and a slightly sour finish.
3.3 Bottle. Pours to a deep amber body with a white head. The aroma has a dash of orange peel with a lot of amber malts. The flavor is very malty. A definite amber. The orange is subtle. I like this as an amber. But I don’t feel it needs to be advertised as orange included. Medium light body.
2.7 Sample from 12 ounce bottle at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL Better than the regular Blue Moon.
1.8 Very mild orange smell with even less on the taste. Not a bad beer, but didn’t leave much to desire on the palate.
2.9 Clear, copper-amber with a minimal, white head. The aroma has oranges and bread with a touch of caramel. It has a light, watery body with average carbonation. The taste is sweet and slightly warming
2.9 Not my favorite blue moon. The citrus is subtle, more in nose then in taste.
2.5 Pours an orange-y copper color with a medium head. Thin and not very flavorful - I expected this to have more orange/citrus flavor but it was very bland. Drinkable, though.
2.1 Pours amber with a huge off white head. Aroma is citrus. Some metallic notes as well. Flavor is malty and fairly sweet. Slightly bitter. Some faint orange peel on the finish. Decent beer.
2.9 Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a clear amber colored body yielding a decent sized two finger white foamy head that quickly recedes leaving some nice speckled foamy lacing surrounding the sides of the pint glass. Some fast rising carbonation is seen. The smell had an orange, lemon, caramel and coriander coming through a slightly bland sort of way. The taste was kinda bland again through light roasty bitterness. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium, sessionable, carbonation slightly felt, aftertaste and finish has a bland dry nuttiness. Overall, I’m not really into this beer, and its just an average beer for its style. There’s too many other good American Reds that I’d probably have over this. However, it looks great in my pint glass.
2.9 Copper colored beer with a slightly off-white head. Aromas of oranges and caramel. Tastes of orange peel, some caramel notes, hints of toffee, and some skunky water. Finish is of oranges. Smooth, refreshing, yet bland. A solid session beer. More like a wheat ale than an amber.
1.9 Skunky Aroma with a weak and a bit skunky flavor. Pour is a light amber with no head.
3.1 one and about .38 12 oz. bottle(s) poured into a 22 oz. "blue moon" labeled glass that looks much like a lager glass with a marketing silk screened imprint on it. aromas: sweet malteds with a small tint of brown. looks: a very comfortable, open toned copper. taste: very likable; full, smooth, satisfying gulps @ 1st, then slower mouthfuls then sips then gulps again. ok palate. overall, a 3.2 since it’s so easy to dance by, too.
2.9 12 oz. bottle with a June 2014 date stamped on the neck. Pours clear amber with a large and creamy tan head that has good durability and leaves fine lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty and musty with hints of orange and yeast.. The flavor is a little subdued but balanced: light bready malts with hints of wheat, orange juice, orange pith and grapefruit. Light-medium body with good, soft, medium-high carbonation. O: Refreshing but perhaps best suited for transitional (towards craft beers) beer drinkers.
3.2 smell is amber like malt, metal. taste is wheaty, caramel and a bit of alcohol after it warms a touch, unfortunately. started better ice cold. decent and drinkable but booze showed up late sadly.
2.6 Descent aroma but really lacking in the taste department. Not a big fan of blue moon but the wife loves it so what ya going to do?
3.5 Good crisp beer, not bad for the price. Good for starters to the craft beer world.
4.2 Great head and excellent orange flavor. I like it better than adding orange slice to a regular Blue Moon. I will be buying this in the future.hazy, white foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, average carbonation.
2.8 Bottle from Publix, Sarasota. Amber coloured, with an off-white head. Nose is wheat, orange, slightly malted, bit of caramel. Flavour is light malty, caramel, oranges. A bit metallic and harsh. Medium carbonation. Slightly sweet and short finish.
2.2 This beer is out of the bottle. smells like nothing, tastes like wheat that is about all for this. it is not a terrible taste but I really do not taste any orange what so ever.
3.4 Overripe orange, grass nose. Clear amber, medium head. Soft carbonation, medium body. Malty with an orange accent.. Very light fusel alcohol detected, almost unnoticeable as it hides behind the orange peel quite well. Respectable.
2.5 Orange colored pour. Small white head. Very effervescent. No lacing. Smells like corn and regular old macro for some reason. Strange. Taste is a bit better up front with a bit of a roasted note followed by corn. Bitter in the back and not very good.
3.5 Poured from a bottle into a plastic cup with a slice of orange at a hockey game. I’m kind of surprised at the low rating. Nice Amber color, small head, understated aroma but fruity refreshing taste and smooth drink.
2.5 I get a faint hint of orange in the aroma. The orange comes through more in the taste, but it’s rather mild. Not much different about this one compared to other Blue Moon beers.
2.4 Bottle. Pours clear, light orange. Smells and tastes very mild, hard to place it. A little too carbonated. Can’t find much to like, but neither do I dislike it. Probably won’t buy it again, but wouldn’t mind of one were offered to me.
2.3 Aroma is wheaty with a hint of citrus, not strong. Pours a nice clear amber with a decent white head. Flavor is rather wan, wheaty with a snip of orange, but nothing special. Texture is a bit on the thin side, only average fizz at best. Gimme a REAL craft beer, bitte, s’il vous plait, por favor. I’ll finish this one only to take the edge off a headache.
