3.2 Bottle:   Thick and hazy dirty amber, light to moderate frothy sandy head, so-so lacing.   Heavily caramel biscuity sweet aroma, slight overcooked vegetables detract.   Not as offensive on the tongue.   Pale caramel, minor overcooked vegetables, a little citrusy, but not biting.   Comes across more as a weak American Barley Wine.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Strong sweet tea, caramel, and citrus peel on the finish.   Can’t tell its 10% which is nice, but the overcooked vegetable aspect takes away from the experience.
4.4 from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - hazy orange beer with no foam left; fresh piney and earthy hoppiness with notes of apricots; very tasty, lively; full-bodied and with hugely bitter; very dry fruity hoppy finish - great stuff
3.6 Pours amber with off white head. Smells of dried fruit. Taste is similar to aroma with light bitter. Light carbonation.
4.3 Very nice representation of the style. Pours a copper/brown with half-inch head. Aroma of fresh hops but not so much on the initial mouth feel. Has a lingering flavor that produces more hops as it lingers. All in all...nicely done
3.5 I like this. It’s like a heavily hopped, IPA version of an American strong ale. It pours a hazy, deep peach color with a frothy head, and average carbonation. Rich, malty aroma. The flavor is a woody, sweet caramel that’s not overshadowed by the big, tart hop character. This one leans to the malt side in a big way, and it was a nice change after several nights of extra bitter IPAs.
3.4 22oz bomber. Pours an orange/amber color with a medium size creamy tan head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, grapefruit, lemon zest, and caramel malt. Taste has lots of citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, caramel malt, and floral hop bitterness towards the finish.
3.4 Don’t remember much about this beer other than what I put in my notes. Smell is all malts. Pours to the brown side of orange. Too, too, too sweet for style. I wrote the word "malts" multiple times in my notes.
3.8 Rich copper and light amber coloured body with a rich, thick three centimetre tall tan head - nice. Aroma of tons of bright grapefruity and piney hops with some resin, tons of alcohol and some sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hop flavours throughout with a ton of pine, resin, alcohol, malt, sugars and a bit of nice light fruits. Aftertaste shows some nice sweetness, plentiful amounts of alcohol and a lot of nice and pungent hops. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA with some great flavours and a good sweetness - some complexity, but not in the league of some of the other ones. Still, this is nice to sample and well worth searching out. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased yesterday at Forager’s Cafe in Brooklyn (DUMBO), New York, New York on 13-July-2013 for US$13.29 sampled on the train back to Washington on 14-July-2013.
2.8 From the tap came a hazy, golden brew with a white head. Mostly malty aroma. Full bodied with a well balanced malt/hop mix.
3.2 Tap @ Savory Grain. Date night with hubby makes all beer better. Pineapple upside down cake. More on the sweet/perfumy side. A little bitterness creeps in for the ending.
4.4 Clear amber orange. Aroma is sweet floral and fruity. Taste is sweet and sticky with a little bitter at the end.
2.0 Overpowering hop aroma, dirty yellow pour, strong taste with a small but warming finish.
3.7 Growler from Ale Yeah! Hazy orange pour, with a big, off-white head. Aroma of butterscotch, pine, resinous notes, and honey. Musty sweetness, and a very aggressive bitterness. Heavy body, very astringent, and sticky. Overall, this is a very hoppy, creamy, and heavy DIPA. Very nice.
2.6 Disappointing. I am a Blue Point fan and a Long Island local. Weird. This double IPA pours a dark amber with a tall white head. The aroma is disgusting. It almost smells like a bad batch contaminated with brett. The flavor is over malted and brown sugar. If you want to try something better from BP, I highly recommend their Hoptical Illusion. Pass this one by.
4.0 Burnt orange color with sticky head as well as mouth feel. Big choppy aroma and finish. Nice alcohol warmth and sweet malt backbone.
3.4 Draft at Sybarite Pig. Tulip. Orange deep amber pour with thick, foamy white head. Solid lacing. Apricot, plums, and spices on the nose. Taste of sweet ripened fruits, pine, resin, malts, cinnamon, coriander and plums. Very bitter finish from the hops. Very complex but not well balanced. Seems rather segmented.
3.7 Deep gold pour with orange tinges. White head. Flavors of tropical fruit, mandarin oranges, sweet malty backbone. Pretty damn good stuff.
3.6 Associated Supermarket, Bushwicck growler: Pours an amber color with a whitish head. Aroma is citrus, flower, berry, and caramel malts. Taste is somewhat sweet. Alcohol is well covered. Some complexity and intermingling amongst the hop varietals. Not bad. Pretty easy to drink for a DIPA.
3.6 Heavy IPA. More of a bold IPA than a grapefruit fresh beer. A little huskies than I hoped.
3.6 Bomber from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. Pours an orangey-copper with an orange-white head leaving nice lacing. Aroma has heavy pine and citrus with a solid resinous presence ... and caramel. Taste is of sweet caramel with a strong piney/citrusy hop presence. Quite sweet with a bunch of bitter. Very rough and sticky. Some alcohol noted. Shrug? It was 8 months old, perhaps it would have been more smoothed out and balanced new? The components are there, but needed to be blended better.
3.8 On tap at Ashley's. pretty nice. Nice hoppy aroma and good balance. Nothing crazy original but good
3.2 Tasting at Red White and Bleu. Dark copper with white head. Aroma is unsweetened iced tea. Unexpected and odd. Taste has dull hops, floral and pine. Not a fan.
3.5 Caramel aroma. earthy, woody, amber, cloudy, minimal head, medium sweetness, full body, creamy, long finish,
3.7 From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a Hazy amber with a thick off white head. Grassy aroma. Intense floral hops with a sweet malt backbone. Nice DIPA.
4.2 Pours dark gold with foamish cream head. Aroma in back is alcoholic caramel smell with sweet flower hops. Taste is pleasant mix together of simultaneous flower sweet hops and caramel increasing and taking over to a toffee roundness then a lingering hop bite aftertaste.
3.4 This one poured a lighter orange color with an off white head. Aroma was earth, soap, light orange peel and caramel. Flavor was very bitter but in an astringent soapy way, not a good way, with too much caramel getting through too.
3.6 Pours a golden color with a medium white head. Aromas are malts, grass, pine and a frank raisin taste. A slightly hoppy bitterness. Refreshing and tasty helles.
3.3 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark copper color with a white head. Citrus, floral and pine notes. The alcohol is very present. Not as hoppy on the finish as I would have liked. It seems a bit off to me.
3.9 Draught. Dark amber crazy lacing. Strong hoppy aroma. Sweet taste thats pleasant.
2.9 Mad mex on tap. Floral hoppy aroma with pine. Taste is a strange bitter. I don't like it. Not great at all.
