2.8 12 oz. bottle purchased at Beer Store, Nashua. Clear Amber color with very fast diminishing head that didn’t leave much in the shaker glass. Aroma is mild toasted grain a weak grassy hops. The flavor is light toffee with a very mild level of hops coming from herbal or a grassy note. The body and texture are watery thin. This style is rather boring and bland overall, this brew does nothing to change my opinion of the style. I’m fighting back a yawn.
3.0 Standard copper ale. Decent retention, sweet honey aroma, nice hop bite. Refreshing. Decent brew.
3.2 Bottle - Pours a clear amber/copper with a decent, creamy head. Caramel and bread aromas. Nice mouth feel, but somewhat aqueous. OK light amber beer.
3.7 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear golden copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, toast, biscuit, light caramel, floral, grass, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced citrus hop and bready malt notes; with decent strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, toast, biscuit, light caramel, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, toast, biscuit, light caramel, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of citrus hops and bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice amber ale. All around good balance and robustness of citrus hops and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
3.6 Transfer from BA review on 10-28-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lighter copper kind of orange color with a nice big and thick just off white two finger head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is lighter overall but consists of a nice blend of caramel, cracker malt and a decent hop profile. The hop is rather complex in nature consisting of floral, citrus, grassy and some pine notes. Taste – The taste begins with a drier cracker and bready malt taste with a hint of caramel sweetness. The caramel leaves quickly leaving the taste quite dry. The hop flavors then start coming to the tongue. At first a light citrus greets the tongue, remaining rather light through the taste. Other hop flavors of an earthy and grassy nature come to the tongue soon after though giving the brew a rather hoppy taste overall. Toward the end a little bit of a floral hop taste comes to the tongue, which, in the end, with the loss of the sweet and the presence of all the hop a rather crisp and diversely hopped taste is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lower side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. A bit more body may have been nicer for supporting the hop and would have balanced the brews flavors slightly more appropriately. Overall – A rather decent brew, although not quite what I was expecting for a “copper ale” (as described by brewer as I was expecting something maltier and sweeter). As an APA though it is very appropriate in flavor and a nice one to try.
2.9 Twist off top!! I have not had one of those in years. Pours an off white head and copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, some pine. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary pine hops with some bite.
3.4 Nice copper color. Dry malt profile with a touch of roast. Almost tastes like it has rye. Malt fills the palate and blends nicely with the hop resin. Aftertaste is honey. Tasty brew.
3.2 Good on style points. Not very zippy once you savor the sweet barley. Easy to drink and easy to forget about. Nothing special here, just a nice beer.
3.3 On tap in the BA lounge at JFK. Lovely tap head, enjoyed getting to grips with that! Poured a pleasant light amber copper colour. It’s a crisp drinkable ale, with a nice if unchallenging level of hop bitterness. Solid malts. Nothing remarkable but surprisingly pleasant. I suspect you might see a few of these slp down if you weren’t concentrating...
3.0 Rated on 3-28-2011 (Bottle purchased at Total Wine & More-Ft. Myers, FL) This beer pours a medium sized off-white fizzy head with a short retention, transparent amber body, fast rising carbonation, and a substantial amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, grassy, citrus, sweet, and spicy. The taste is lightly bitter, caramel malt, grassy, citrus hops and has a dry finish. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. The hops are upfront in the flavor and there is a lingering hoppy bitter aftertaste. It is not over-the-top hoppy tasting and is a nice beer on this humid late March Florida day.
3.2 Hoppy dry nice taste good balance and nice finish. Citrus notes nice on a hot day. I would buy this again.
2.3 Tap. Copper pour with a big white head. Caramel, citrus, vanilla, floral. Light body. Not a lot of carbonation. Easy to drink
2.5 On tap at Brunzies. Mild beany tang aroma. Light fruity character with a bit of cider. Deep coppery amber clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts medium sweet with caramel and biscuit. Astringent tea, light hoppy finish with smooth light bitter after.
3.0 Jettisoned bottle packing, room 212, UWS, 22/02/14. Deep lazily bubbling copper capped with a fine off-white mousse. Nose of bile, diluted OJ, fallen leaves, slight butter and Southern Comfort. Smooth and slightly warm at this hour with a hazelnut and orange hinting mellow fuzz of alcohol. Some mild roast and undeveloped hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Half-decent malt background; chocolate hints, minerals, almond. Amped up BSEB.
3.0 12oz bottle from Joe Canal's in Brick. Pours a crystal clear copper color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of earthy hops, roasted grain, yeast, and a hint of fruit. Taste of toasted grain, earthy/spicy hops, caramel malt, and a bit metallic.
3.1 12 oz bottle served in a Belgian Snifter. Pours a clear, deep copper-amber; a shade darker than average for style. Flavor: good balance, if a bit higher in the malt/hop ration than usual for style. Feel: crisp, near medium body with a semi-dry finish. O: well balanced, slightly mild version of an APA.
3.2 Draught @ Headkeeper: This one pours a crystal clear, golden color. There was just a wisp of a white head on it. There was no lacing. The nose is lighter yet nice. Grassy and earthy hops, some malts. The taste is good. It is slightly bitter and dry. Earthy hops, some malts in background. Pretty good!
3.0 pale color, clean; nice bubbles. bland smell, weak hop color. good amber-esque taste, but leaves palate too soon. overall good, just too short. refreshing.
3.4 12 ounce bottle. A frothy off white head leaves thick lacing. The beer is copper hued. This is nutty and malty. Hops are light and tend to pop in and out. Crackery malts with caramel. Some grain. Hops bring some brightness late and darker fruit and bitterness come after that. Citrus. A nicely balanced beer.
3.0 Draught at Good Beer, N.Y., June 1. Pours a hazy copper-gold with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel malt. Flavour of grain, caramel malt, a hint of diacetyl, some light sugary sweetness and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. I didn’t much care for this.
3.6 Bottle thanks to Lewis. Pours amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has biscuits, cake mixture and a fresh spicy hop. The taste has more of the same. The palate is close to medium bodied with a nice balanced middle and finish. Overall, a good ale.
3.4 Copper ale, with medium bitterness, caramel sweet malts and citrus undertones. Enjoyable, Spring beer that blazes its on path, with an Amber Ale style beer.
3.0 Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Copper brew with white head. Aroma of floral hops, a little metal. Taste is nicely malty at the start with a decent amount of spice and bitter in the finish. Enjoyable.
3.2 POurs copper with a thin white head. Aroma is nutty, earthy and caramel. Taste is sweet with metallic tartness. Light bodied with a thin texture.
3.2 Orange with a white head. The aroma and flavor are pretty basic but no offensive. I get some strong grass and grain notes in both of them. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.1 Bottle. Pours basic amber with a slight white head and little to no lacing. Light sweet, malty and somewhat citrusy aroma. Taste is big and malty with a nice sweetness but not too much and a little bit of hoppy bitterness to balance things out. A great spring seasonal that would go great with a variety of meals.
3.3 12oz bottle from ABC on Betton. Gold pour with thin off white. Aroma is caramel, grain and pine. Tastes are almost tart, astringent, faint bitter, grain, sweet malts, light spices. Crisp and enjoyable enough despite the description.
3.0 amber color, aroma of caramel, bread, slight citrus hops, same flavors, not very interesting
3.0 Fresh bottle. Nose is clean, thin caramel with bright lemony citrus and just a touch of whatever makes an amber ale "red" - crystal? Pours a clear, pale amber-copper with an off-white head. Taste is actually surprisingly dry, malt is thin and rather grainy, but this is sure as spit fermented out. Touch of wood and grainy bread, hops are sprizty and faintly citric but mostly kept to a minimum. Seems to be relatively clean, with a light and refreshing body.
3.0 Growler from ale yeah. Would not have put his in an amber category. Much closer to an apa in my opinion but whatever. It is an amber ish color. Caramel malt and candi sugar dominate. Faint grassy hops and a bit of pine and resin on the finish. Drinkable seasionable beer but nothing incredibly earth shattering.
