Blue Point Summer Ale

Blue Point Summer Ale

Blue Point Brewing's Summer Ale has a delicious golden taste. In addition to traditional barley malt; a substantial portion of wheat malt is added to the mix giving this brew a unique tartness that's not found in many beers today. A small amount of lemon is added with one other "special" ingredient that all combine together to produce a light, thirst-quenching, citrus flavor microbrew enjoyed by all on a hot, Long Island Summer day.

2.4 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Appearance is cloudy pale yellow with greenish tinge, mild sparkle, small white ring of head and no lacing. Aroma is funky, musty tart over cracker malt. Taste is as aroma with mild citrus. Palate is medium bodied with watery texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish like taste. Overall, thankfully this was cold so it was refreshing but the tart quality is not a plus.
2.7 Bottle. Light grain for the malt, herbs for the hops, dried leaves for the yeast, with boiled vegetables and corn in the background. Head is small, frothy, white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is clear gold. Flavor starts moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light, watery, with a fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Nothing really good to say about this Golden Ale, just a blah beer.
2.0 The appearance was a golden color with a decent transparency about it. Mild carbonation was seen rising. Fizzy white head. The aroma leans to some crisp sweet grassy hops. Some earthy bitterness tries to come across. Light lemon sweetness. The flavor rides on a light lemon sweetness. Lemon drop sugary sweet aftertaste with a sticky sweet finish, and actually disheartening. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation seems level for what it is. Overall, flavor seems a bit too sweet, imbalance with some cloying sweetness. Hard to say if I would come back to, I want to say most likely not. And don’t judge my review on the date I uploaded this because I have had this more than enough times fresh.
2.7 Bottle: Clear, bubbly gold with a small white head. Sort of an oily barley aroma.....a little fruit... Taste is slightly bitter straw, grain malt, a little bread. Pretty watery....dull.
3.0 Bottle. Lactic lemon, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with nice white head. Lightly sweet citrus, milky biscuit, and lightly bitter straw flavor. Nice body. Decent.
2.7 Pale, headless, ugly. Simplistic, sweet orange, clean fermentation. Prickly but artificial carbonation. Okay bitterness for the style, but devoid of any complexities, and most certainly of any fermentation character. Poor stuff, very poor. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)
3.4 Quite normal and refreshing. A new type of craft very thin. I have the idea I had had tried some of their beers before.
2.5 Bottle 12fl.oz. Poured into a shaker. Clear medium golden, no head because diminishing while pouring, no lacing; faint aroma, light pale malts, light lemon, grass; taste light sweet and bitter, malty, light metallic; watery sweetbitter aftertaste; light body, watery texture, soft carbonation; thirst quencing, but that’s all folks.
2.5 From Saveur-biere. In Teku glass. At dinner, with Chefburger Sabrosa. Similar to an industrial lager, not sure if i’d chose this over that Very watery, with a mild grassy bitterness and a slight citrus tartness at the end. Refreshing but boring and too watery
2.9 12oz bottle - pours a light clear yellow with a thin white head. Mild aroma of wheat, yeast and citrus. Also, mild flavors of simple wheat, citrus, light biscuit malt and crisp water. Simple, well made and refreshing.
1.8 Very generic blonde lager style beer. Forgettable but easy to drink and would make a good session beer, citrus undertones means would be good in the sun. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
2.7 On tap. poured a clear golden color with a small head. Aroma of citrus, bit of malt and grass. Taste of citrus bit of fruit and malt sweetness. mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish. Light body, clean and fairly bland. Decent Summer beer.
2.6 Pour is a clear gold with a large white head. Aroma is a neutral dull malt with a little lemon zest in there. Flavor is again the same some grainy malt with a ever so slight citrus zest. The perfect example of a beer that has nothing wrong with it but it is also not one thing to get excited about as well.
2.9 Draft sample from notes. Pours a clear golden amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have mild citrus favoring oranges, pale bready malts, grass, lightly tart, like most golden ales just not much to get excited about.
2.6 Pours clear amber with a frothy and typical snow-white head. Aroma presents wheaty and fruity tones, not strong but inviting. Typical flavor has wheaty, malty and fruity tones, nothing special but refreshing. Mouthfeel features typical body and not much fizz. Still, a good way to celebrate Summer, or bring a little summer into the colder months.
2.2 On tap at mall pizzeria in Jersey. Poured a mostly clear light gold. Aroma was of pale malts, a bit grainy, and faint citrus. Surprisingly light bodied. Flavor matches the aroma, but not much flavor. In some ways, a throw back to the days when every brewpub tried to brew some inoffensive yellow ale for the masses so as to avoid scaring away the Budmilloor drinkers. Can’t say I miss those brews.
1.8 Bottle. Clear gold color with a medium sized head. Aroma was weak, with hints of grass, hay, and bread. Taste was not very good, weak, wheat and hay.
3.0 Tap. Poured clear orange copper color with an average off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium citrus sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.
2.8 I had this at the beach in St Pete's. Pours gold with a white head. Taste light, citrus, grass. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.
3.0 Pint on tap at Keystone in Hyde Park. Clear golden, slight orange color. Thin white head. Leaves some decent, kind of loose ridges of lace. Up front, kind of an orange citrus, light creme character, pretty pleasant. Some bready, mildly cracker malt. Moderate sweet taste, light bitterness. Medium body. Smooth, kind of crisp, light carbonation. Mild slick texture. Not much to this. But it’s a decent golden ale.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Pours golden with short lived, fluffy, white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of grassy hops and biscuit malt. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Grassy hops and pale malt balanced on the palate. Finish is light, semidry. Light, refreshing brew.
2.9 From a bottle. Golden body with high clarity and a very good head. OK mild aroma but better flavor. About equal mix of hops and malts. O: definitely bested by the Goose Island Summer I had at the same session.
3.3 Gold, with a fragile white head. Smells like fresh bread and grassy hops. More full bodied than I was expecting. Taste is lightly citrus, bready and toasty. Bottled on 02/23/2015, drank on 05/30/2015.
3.0 12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured clear, golden, small white head. Aroma of yeast and malts with some fruit notes. Taste is sweet, bready, malty combined with some citrus notes. Good summer beer, crisp and refreshing, it does what it is intended to do; not bad.
3.1 Tap. Pours a clear orange with small white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong wheat, citrus, and cereal. Thin mouth, crisp, citrus, wheat, crushable, good.
3.7 Appearance - Pale yellow. Aroma -- fruity, apple, maybe cherry? Taste - malty, some sweetness in the aftertaste. Crisp bubbly mouthfeel.
3.4 Liked this summer ale, nice mild hoppy beer, easy to drink but interesting enough, will buy again for a hot day
2.8 16 oz draft pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of light citrus, light malt. Simple basic beer.
2.3 Basically same as any other American golden/blonde ale between 4-5% ABV...if you’ve had one you’ve had them all.
2.5 Golden color , nice white head. Aroma of malt and grain. Taste like average lager. Light body , high carbonation . Refreshing and really good for summer.
