3.2 33cl bottle from Voorburg bier winkel. Very thin white head. Cloudy amber pour. Average.
3.6 On tap at Delirium Village in Brussels. Golden cloudy appearance. Sour taste. Sour and bitter, with druity lines taste
3.5 Golden with medium creamy white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Good bitterness with grapefruit notes with some peach like fruity background. Strong bitter aftertaste.
2.1 (33 cl bottle from Carrefour Express in Galeries Ravenstein; BBD: September 9th 2016; W1408142) Pours a semi-clear amber with two-finger off-white head that fades. A gusher it seems. Some lace. Aroma has some off-notes with tart and metallic ingredients. This gives me associations to an infected beer and the style label of *Belgian Ale" is really not much to go by. However, the brewer likes to say this is not for lambs and I can see that several notable reviewers have remarked that tartness is an ingredient of this beer even though other people say that it’s "sometimes infected". I guess I’m as bewildered about this beer as the brewer intended me to be: "Uiteindelijk werd nooit opgehelderd wat er precies aan de hand was." 20 percent of the grain bill is wheat, which I guess would also contribute to the violent head formation and acidic character. Perhaps I drank this under a full moon? Oily texture, medium body, medium carbonation and a tart finish. Flavour is tart with grainy notes. Would not drink again.
3.0 Found back quite some tasting notes, among them, this one. APPEARANCE: dark blond beer, small stable white head. NOSE: caramel, fruity, wheat. TASTE: faint alcoholic, malty, wheat, bit fruity, balanced, but nothing special.
3.6 (Boelens Waase Wolf) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a tulip, ABV 6.5% Dark orange colour on the body, mostly clear. Tall and a bit frothy, off-white head, with average retention, leaving spots of lacing on the glass. Nice aroma, herbal, with juniper berries, leaves, some barnyard on the background. Taste is also herbal, some acidity and sourness but quite pleasant. Juniper berries again, white pepper, grapes. Medium body, biting carbonation. Nice.
3.2 Bottle. Pours hazy amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of flowers, caramel malt, hops and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with fruity and estery notes and sourish, vinous touches. Medium bitterness. Rough, estery and sweet-sourish aftertaste. Not bad but a trifle too acidic. 5 months past the BBD but this should affect a beer of this style.
3.2 Bottle @ Home. Pours hazy burnt orange with a creamy offwhite head, heavy floaties, heavy lacings. Aroma of malt, yeast, candy sugar, sweet fruity, banana, light tartness. Flavor is sweet, tartness, malt, yeast, candy sugar, tart fruit, light vinegar note. Medium body, average carbonation, light tart finish. 301114
3.2 A ’tarwetripel’ developped when the Waasland region in Flanders, where Boelens is situated, was startled by sightings of an out-of-place, roving wolf (and I am convinced I saw him too in that period, but anyway)... Apparently still made to this day. Off-white, loose head, deep brownish orange colour, cloudy. Estery nose, spices, caramelly maltiness, wheaty, very yeasty; nutty and caramelly malty taste, yeasty, sweetish fruitiness, citrus, coriander, peach, mild grassy hop bitterish finish. I had this a few times in bad (infected) condition but I will not take that into consideration for this rating.

2.8 22/I/13 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 1/XI/14 (2013-92) Little cloudy red amber beer, nice creamy smooth off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit sourish, rotten fruits, earthy, pretty off, lemony, infected? MF: lots of carbon, light to medium body. Taste: lemony, sour, grapefruit, bitter touch, some caramel, grains. Aftertaste: lemony, sour, earthy, bit spicy, green apple skin, dirty flavours. Infected? Probably.

3.3 33cl bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Amber brown colour with large off white head.Malt, fruit and yeast aromas and taste with a lillte background toffee.Pleasant beer.
3.5 330ml Bottle (Pressklubben, Stockholm) - Hazy amber with a foamy head. Spicy malt, caramel and orange in the aroma. Tangy and spicy taste with notes of pomerans, nuts and toffee.
