Boon Kriek

Kriek Boon is a traditional Belgian Lambic fruit-beer. It is brewed according to the traditional Lambic style of spontaneous fermentation. Only fresh cherries (25%) are used. Kriek Boon is slightly sweet, with the surprising natural fragrance of sourcherries and almonds. With only 4% of alcohol it is a perfect summer beer.

3.1 Poured from 375mL bottle (2008 vintage; w/ the brewnosers). Hazy brownish red with extremely minimal white head. Soft cherry, mild tartness, a bit old, but still holds up okay.

3.7 Bright dark red appearance with an unstable pink foam. Impression of champagne with a mild cherry aroma. There is some bitterness of old hops, but the sweetness dominates, so the typical earthy lambic taste remains a bit hidden. Too much fruit, too little lambic in my opinion.

3.5 Shared with Tania, who likes these sweet ones. Red with a thin, frothy white head. Cherry cider aroma. Taste is mildly sweet to sweet with slight tartness and slight warmth at the finish. Fresh, refreshing feel. Decent.

3.0 0,25 l Flasche. Rotes Bier, flacher rosa Schaum. Schmeckt wie ein Sauerkirschsaft mit leichter Süße.

3.3 Bottle 375 ml ABV 4 % from Watirose. Pours cranberry-juice like red body with a little pink head. Aroma is fruity of cherry. Taste is cherry and malt. Not much resemblance of a beer in it but very enjoyable on a hot day in May.

3.9 28 February 2022. At Oud Clooster, Ghent. Cheers to Maarten, Nicolas & Ian! Vintage 2020. Hazy red, small, foamy, pinkish head. Aroma of cherry, raspberry, sour cream, yoghurt, malt vinegar, wheat. Taste has sweet-sour cherry & raspberry in a doughy-wheaty malt body, softly lactic and sour-creamy. Tart, cherry-like finish, no hops, some cream and woodiness. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Elegant and refreshing.

3.7 Flaska från systembolaget. Rödaktig öl med litet rosa skum. Fruktig och syrlig med toner av körsbär, vanilj och mandel. Torr avslutning.

3.6 Bottle. Medium dark red, moderate thin head. Nose is super cherry with a natural flavor, very juicy. The flavor is not as powerful as others which have artificial cherry flavors, and I'm okay with that. Complexity is not so high; mainly a smooth cherry juice bomb with a hint of hop bitterness at the end. Very tasty marriage of fruit and beer.

3.6 Bottle from Tesco. Clear ruby body with a pink head. Low carbonation. Aroma of red apple and fresh cherries. Flavour of cherry cola and a sharp, slightly sour finish. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. There’s a nice sweet-and-sour vibe to this.

3.5 Pours clearish raspberry with minimal head. Aroma yields tart and sour stonefruit and citrus, a berry hint. Flavor presents seriously tart and somewhat sour stonefruit, citrus, berry. Texture gives fair body and peppy fizz.

3.7 Pours a clear crimson-brown colour, with a bubbly pink head and a lovely sweet cherry aroma. The mouthfeel is creamy and fizzy, it's a very fruity little number, cherries and a touch of vanilla going on, with some underlying malt character bulking it out a little and a dry, tart finish

3.4 Keg at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Deep red pour with a pink head. Black cherry yoghurt, blueberry, cherry bakewell aromas. Sweet cherry action in the taste with all rhe aforementioned aromas in there too. Does the job.

4.0 Draught at Aarhus Street Food Slightly hazy, deep cherry appearance with a mostly lasting pink head. Aroma is intense, slightly sour. Fresh cherry is what you ask for, and it's what you get. Slight notes of hazelnut, but hard to distinguish. Taste is sweet and sour, intense taste of cherries, notes of fresh and sour apples, cranberries. Texture is watery, quite foamy, medium carbonation. 9-5-8-2-16 Tasted on 2021-12-16

3.8 1. On Tap at Mes & Sim's wedding reception 18/06/2011 Big fruit aroma. Red coloured strong in alcohol and very fruity with a sour cherry flavour. Dry and slightly yeasty in the finish. 2. 250ml Bottle at Home 18/03/2021 Big fruit and yeast aromas. Large bubbly pink head. Medium carbonation. Light red coloured and yeasty with a little sweetness in a slightly tart cherry flavoured lasting finish. 3. 250ml Bottle at Home 05/11/2021 Big cherry fruit aroma. Bubbly pink head. Medium carbonation. Some sweetness initially. Red coloured and a little hazy in appearance with a slightly sour cherry flavour. A little yeast in a dry lasting finish.

3.9 On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a cloudy burgundy with a small pink head. Cherries in the aroma, and again in the mouth (sweet and read). There’s a creamy texture with a hint of marzipan too, and lambic zestiness underneath. Finish is sweet and fruity. This beer is about as mainstream as a lambic gets. Nicely understand and not overpowering.

3.4 Aroma of cherries and some hints of marzipan, malt and yeast. Red with a pink head. medium sweet and light to medium bitter. nice acidity. Overall a decent, well balanced Kriek.

3.7 Draught @ SKAAL Sønderborg. Pours hazy dark ruby with airy pink head. Clear aroma of cherries, with notes of yeast and mild touches of malt. Dry vinous flavour with notes of dust and yeast and mild touches of malt. Cherry and wild yeast in the aftertaste. A decent Kriek.

3.7 UWAGA! Zawiera słodzik, co nie powinno miec miejsca w tradycyjnym stylu piwa. Aromat przyjemny, czerwonego wina, prawdziwych szlachetnych wisni, troche kompotu wisniowego. Niewyczuwalne dzikie drozdze niestety. Kolor czerwony, wisniowy, intensywny, piana w umiarkowanie obfita, lekko różowa, drobnopecherzykowa, srednio trwala. Umiarkowana karbonacja. Smak szlachetnie wisniowy. Na szczescie nie sztuczny, jak w niektorych kriekach. Smak mozna przyrownac do kompotu, nie za slodkiego, ale to przez slodziki, ktore niestety sa w skladzie. Lekkie posmaki winne majacza w tle. Zbyt malo dzikiego charakteru. Zaledwie sladowa kwaskowosc na finiszu i w aftertescie. Full bodied, aksamitne, cos jakby odczucie czerwonego wina. Niestety z dodatkiem cukru a nawet slodzika, przez co traci charakter tradycyjnego krieka i nie odczuwa sie w nim tanicznosci, charakterystycznej dla dzikich drozdzy lub jest ona sladowa. Jest to piwo i jest to piwo wisniowe, lecz nie ma charakteru dzikiego piwa.NA szczescie czuc naturalne wisnie, nie jakies aromaty, ale niestety jest dosladzane cukrem i slodzikami. Nie czuc tu kwaskowatosci i dzikich drozdzy, jedynie wisnie. Jest mnostwo piw kraftowych o wiele lepszych o tego "tradycyjnego belgijskiego" piwa.

3.4 Bottle from Tesco - Clear red body, fluffy pink top. Nose is sweet cherry, bit of a kick, taste has a nice bitter-sweetness. Definitely cherry flavoured. Nice and light.

3.6 Bottle from Edeka Hamburg - clear red color, white head. Taste is cherries, dark chocolate, tart, medium sour. Very refreshing and with a perfectly balanced acidity. Almost unbeatable in this style.

3.8 375ml bottle, my first lambic. Deep purple, small pink head, circular retention. Big sweet cherry fruity aroma, nice and fresh. Taste is lovely fresh cherry juice, modest acidic, marzapan, a dry slight bitter tangy finish. Medium bodied, slight syrup note but refreshing with a nice carbonation. Very tasty.
