Gold Medal World Beer Cup 2016

(from label)

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label is the driest geuze we make. Combining a full-bodied taste with a very high fermentation degree is a big challenge. This geuze has a clear golden body with lively carbonation, balanced sourness and flavors of green apple and grapefruit. This is finished off with a long bone-dry aftertaste. The Lambics used for this blend aged for 1, 2 and 3 years on oak casks. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name.

3.6 Boon / Mikkeller Oude Geuze Boon, Bone Dry Mikkeller Selection. 7% ABV, not 6,4%. This is NOT black label edition, but is Yellow label Mikkeller dry hopped version. It was diffrent version than black label. I don't understand why ratebeer pairing that two version to one? mocno chmielny lambick, wytrawny bardzo, lekko cierpki, musujacy, spore nagazowanie, piana napowietrzona jakby. skromnie z metnoscia, poteznie wytrawne i kwaskowo-cytrusowe. mimo to wole klasyczne gueuze Boon'a niz eksperymenty Mikkellera w tym stylu.

Fruity, tart taste with notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, green apples, barnyard, a Champagne-like mineral touch and a dry, clean tartness in the finish. Medium body, dry. Clean and fresh, with a flawless, dry acidity. Great beer!

3.9 Bottle - 750ml. Beautiful golden, carbonated body with a fading, white foamy/bubbly head. Rich, well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with apple, yeasty, and oaky hints. Its sharp malty/hoppy taste carries oaky, cider, vineous, and yeasty notes. Ends with a long sour finish. Well done.

3.9 Looks like apple juice, slight haze, lots of visible carbonation (cork knocked my glasses off when I opened it!) bubbly white head which quickly subsides. Aroma green apples, farmyard funk. Mouthfeel is initially like champagne. Taste is moderately sour, not quite ripe apples, grapefruit, very dry finish. Nice.

3.8 2nd Edition. Clear gold. Nose of green apple, some straw and barnyard. Taste is clean and well balanced. Short finish. Very good with some sushi.
4.3 No. 3, bb 5/9/2036, drank Mid 2020. Pours a medium golden and fairly clear. Smells funky, very strong and maybe horsey if you want to call it that. Very strong and intense flavour, a heaavy flavoured gueuze, plenty of sour and lots of intense funk, but all the flavour seems to be extended from the character of the grain and the hops. Wow, very carbonated like a champagne. Complex with a long aftertaste, very good.
3.7 God, speciell smak. Väl kolsyrad

4.0 (Bottle, Edition No. 3) Clear amber body with a large white head that quickly diminishes into a medium frothy head, sea foam. Aroma of tart apple, barnyard, horse blanket. Lively carbonation, light to medium body, sticky mouthfeel. Flavor is tart, apple, lemon, ripe melon. Dry finish.
4.3 Bottle: Poured a clear amber color lambic with a large foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of funky yeast notes with some oak and tart notes and green apple notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also a mix of funky barn yard notes with some oak, tart notes light green apple acidity and a dry finish. Body is about average for style with excellent carbonation. Excellent dry gueuze that aged perfectly well.
4.8 Golden, just very slightly hazy, with a thin white head that dilapidates quickly. Beautiful Gueuze aroma, sour, fermentation but not muggy at all. Taste is sour with a little bitterness on the side. Slightly soapy palate.
4.1 Bottle 2nd edition batch 90607. Nose is funky, cherry, strawberry, green apple, hint of caramel. Taste is pleasingly dry, green apple, lemon, leather/wood and brett, hint of marmalade, touch of pepper and spice, with a dry yeasty finish. Very mellow body with a balanced sour and tartness. Very easy drinking and enjoyable.

Nice one, although not that complex.
3.7 Bottle of the 7% version. Hazy orange with white head. Aroma is funky, some sulphur, green apple. Dry with medium sourness, mildly tart. Very lively carbonation. Long, champagne-like finish. Good lambic but a little one-dimensional. Works well with a sweet dessert.

3.0 Licht geel van kleur met een heel klein beetje schuim. Het bier smaakt zurig en fruitig met daarnaast een mooi aroma van gist. verder is er hout te proeven en een mooie droogheid. (Mitra Xperience 2019)
