4.1 Pretty nice stuff. Subtle mix of grapefruit yeast and soft lime. Some passionfruit. Pours hazy golden with ok head. Wonderful beer to slang while walking through Park Guell in Barcelona. Light tangy finish but still has some sweetness. Bottle from Biercab.
4.0 Bottle shared at Daniel Osprey 10K tasting. 21/03/2018. Many thanks! A mostly clear golden onion skin coloured pour with a fine halo of white head. . Aroma is nice complexity, white grape, gooseberry, light musty fink. Flavour is composed of tangy, white grape, gooseberry, musty grainy, lychee, musty lacto, . Paalte is tangy, moderate carboantion, crisp finish. . Nice.
3.6 24Mar2018 As VAT 44. Bitter citrus fruits, wet straw, grass, lemon peel. Hazy gold, small, frothy, white head. Medium bitter. More bitter, dry citrus fruits, lemon peel, bitter straw, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Very nice. Bottle shared at CBC Islington - thanks to Scopey!
4.2 La gradazione, che comunque è nascosta egregiamente, le dona più corpo, ma la beva è splendida, e il palato rimane lì in rigoroso silenzio, trepidante ed in attesa di un ulteriore sorso...
3.9 Bottle popped at home. Pours a near clear orangey amber with bright white head. Smells of flint and iron. On the sweet side there’s sweet grains, apricot, white raisans, and then there is sour dough, lambic sweat, a hint of mustard and some funk. Moderate sweet and sour. Over medium body and soft sparkly carbonation. A high(er) abv gueuze with boosted sweet fruity notes up front and a firm sweaty funky followup. Pretty nice.
4.3 @ VAT Tasting hosted by Kraddel (18/09/2017) We also drank the VAT 44, which apparently is the same as 77 according to Ratebeer. Nevertheless, I'm going to rate the separately here. VAT 77: Bottled 24/10/2013 Funky aroma. Old oak, vanilla and hay, palate is very creamy (lactic?) funk. Balance is so perfect. Very juicy and tender. Nice yeast and acidity. VAT 44: Bottled 03/08/2010 Aroma is cellar, musty, dusty and dandelion. Barnyard, pepper and old oak. Palate is slightly wry. Very nice balance. Great stuff!
3.8 Bottle at hoppy loft. Yellow colour good white head. Nose is light sourness, fruity acidity, light horseblanket. Taste is low sourness, low bitterness. Sadly delivers much less than the nose suggests.
3.8 URUS 3.0 #2 Aroma: oak, some sweet, fruity notes (almost caramel), hay, pineapple Taste: moderate sour, light sweet, oak, hay, raisins, pineapple
4.1 Bottle at Delirium Café, Brussels. Many thanks to the nice bartender who serve us this one almost for free. Clear golden with big frothy white head. Very fruity aroma with notes of yeasts, yogurt, wood and hay. Sour flavor with lots of wood, yogurt, apricot, sweetish, a bit alcoholic. Slightly dry, lively carbonation, medium to full-bodied. Excellent.
4.1 Bottle at Delirium Café, Brussels. Clear orange with a big white head. Aroma of barnyard, oak, Brett, vanilla, citrus and fruits. Light sweetness followed by sour flavors of lemon, oak, berries, green fruits. Light-medium bodied, dry with a very good balance. Great.
4.1 375ml bottle. Hazy golden with a foamy white head. Flavors are cereals, hay, apple and oak with funky notes. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, smooth texture.
3.8 Golden with a small lightly off white head. Aromas of barnyard, citrus, wet wood, funk, stoenfruit and light floral/flowery notes develop. Very light tangy with a bright texture with some smoothness to it. Fine sweetness paired with delicate acidity. rather approachable for first-time lambiek drinkers. Light tart pelasantly refreshing finish. Nice!
4.1 Bottle from Biercab shop. orange colour with white head. Apple, citric and wood aroma. Sweet, fruit, citric, funk, apricot taste. Medium body.
3.6 Some apple notes present. Mildly sour and bitter. Not very attractive in a glass. Very cider-like.
4.4 375ml bottled 2013-10-24. Pour dark orange with a nice white foam. Aroma of wood, brett, and citric. Taste of wood, light sweetness, citric acid, lemon peel, bacteria and sour finish.
4.2 Vat 44 375mL bottled 2008, drunk 12/17/16, compliments of JTClockwork. A fine appearance, significantly lighter than the Vat 79, showing the "proper" pale-blonde body, clear, well-carbonated, and with a white head showing good retention for the style. The nose smells nothing like any Boon I’ve ever had (in a very good way). Low on the green apple, but even past that, it doesn’t have that deep powdered sugar and caramel character that I find in most Boons. Bright, brett-forward, with funky horseblanket, lemon, apple (not green) and surprisingly no alcohol whatsoever (why is this series so high in alcohol??). In the mouth it has just enough malt to create a supple texture, with very tight carbonation and tons of Brett. Just a touch of acetic character adds a bit of intensity, but then softens in to more brett and lactic character while the carbonation disperses any heaviness, leaving it lip-smackingly tart and bright on the finish. Wow, I’m shocked and impressed. If Boon can do this, why the hell are their other beers so vastly underwhelming??
4.1 0,375l bottle at home. Bottled 24/10/2013. amber clear color, small white head. smells funky, citric, nice wood notes, bit nutty, cheesy, some barnyard. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, soft mouthfeel. tastes grassy, some funk, light caramel, some wood, bit citric, bit cheesy again, almost no sourness, light apple notes. finishes dry with notes of barnyard, some cheesy notes, light citric and some apple notes. lovely beer, great balance, almost no sourness detectable, but has a nice dryness to it, also lovely complexity. overall I quite love it.
4.0 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.3 Bel arome de lambic. Petit dépôt. Peu d’acidité pour une geuze. On goutte bien le côté boisé. Fort pétillante sur la langue. Pas assez de caractère pour une geuze.
3.7 Well balanced regarding sourness and sweetness. Overall great. It only falls short in the way that alcohol is rather strong and thus casts a shadow on the brew.
4.0 How: Bottle. Where: SBWF 2016. Appearance: Hazy dark golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: Fruit, sour, tart, citrus. Body: Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Tart, sour, a bit floral, some fruit.
4.2 Aroma of citrus fruit, white grape, cheese, oak, various stone fruit & an abundance of brett funk, very complex nose. Taste is mostly apricots for me, some damp barrel, over ripe fruit, moderate tartness, some alcohol as it warms and a mineral fininish. Overall, a very nice lambic, one to sip and simmer over. Only downside is the hint of alcohol in this beer, not really appropriate for style.
3.8 Bottle. Aroma is super funky. Big cobweb, cork and barnyard. Tastes funky too with a very abrupt finish. Mild sour and mild tart. Solid but not amazing.
4.5 Bottled at SBWF. Hazy golden, small head. Stale hay, barnyard and lemon up front. Tart with light-medium body and crisp rounded mouthfeel. Deliciously fine tuned. Funky pears and cobwebs. Mild bitterness.
4.1 375ml bottle at home. Somewhat hazy orange with almost no head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice subtle tarty sourness with subtle sweet and bitter tones. Tart, sour fruits, pepper, grass and oak. Very nice.
4.0 Disig gyllengul öl med vitt skum. Doft av källare, vinägersyrlighet och fruktighet. I smaken tillkommer lättare trätoner.
3.9 Sample at En Öl- och Whiskymässa, 2016. Hazy yellowish golden, minimum white head. Aroma is very fruity as well as slight funkiness, but citrus, apple and elderflower is noticeable. Taste is balanced, fruity notes paired with woody notes, funkiness, almost juicy. Medium body, low carbo.
4.1 375ml bottle pours semi clear pale gold with a half finger of head. Nose has big skunky funk, toasted oak and grain, barn, lemon, citrus. Taste is lemon, fuzz, stonefruit, crust, toast, big minerality, citrus. Finishes dry, dough, vanilla, oak, lemon, funk, medium low tartness. Big funkyness factor to this beer takes it up a notch. Very nice!
