Boon Oude Geuze VAT 79

Boon Oude Geuze VAT 79

Oude geuze single cask "79". The Lambic was left in the cask one year longer than for the VAT 44 and VAT 77.

4.1 Bottle. Hazy orange color, with a medium white head, disappearing. Aroma is citrus, leather, funky, wood muff. Taste is citrusy, leather, a bit vinous. Dry finish, quite bitter, low carbonation. Not as tart as other gueuze, but I liked it.
4.0 Oro limpida carica con lievito sospeso, schiuma praticamente nulla. Al naso malto, fruttata con base acidula. Al palato unisce una buona base acidula con le note dolcine. Si sente parecchio la botte.
3.6 375ml bottle. Cloudy, dark golden to amber colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Funky, bretty, slightly vinous, fruity, minimally woody and spicy aroma, notes of white grapes, hints of nutmeg, a touch of oak, toasted oak, elderberry, mustard seed. Taste is tart, slightly dry woody, vinous, minimally sugary sweet undertones, hints of white grapes, grape sugar, vinegar, a touch of nutmeg, toasted oak; minimally astringent palate.
3.7 Copenhagen 15/2 2019. 37,5 cl bottle from Ølhandleren from Give (webshop). Serious no-nonsense label telling me it's a monoblend and if I read the back of the label carefully I will learn that 85 % of this beer has lived for 3 years in the oldest "Foeder" at Boon Brewery. Pours hazy golden yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as thin, flimsy layer foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is fresh, sour and on the aggressively acerbic side of the road. Some sweet fruit lurking in the background. Pear and peach. Soon overpowered by tart odor of unripe berries, citrus and sour green apples. Medium carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively texture. Reminds me of a carbonated white wine. Flavor is moderately sweet followed by a strong, sharp sourness. Aftertaste has a little more sweetness but complemented by a strong bitterness. Notable alcoholic presence. Finish is bone dry. Fine mix of the fresh and the more matured.
4.1 KØLF 210918/ KRS 160517. Golden color with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, oak. Flavor is grapefruit, citrus, yeast, oak, funk, spices. Very nice beer. Need repetation.
3.4 375mL bottle, pours a cloudy bright orange with a medium white head. Aroma is loaded with oak barrel woodiness, with a more subdued barnyard funk, and some acidity. Flavour is along the same lines, with bright citrus, lots of oak, a bit of leather, and very gentle barnyard funk. It doesn't have the depth as some of the other VAT gueuzes, but it's still quite pleasant.
3.8 Corked bottle. golden color. Honey, orange and wood in the aroma. Hint of strawberries. Sour flavor, well matured with honey, orange, wood and gingery notes. Fairly low on Carbon. Nice.
3.6 Sampler. Fjana dzikość, która tutaj dominuje. Lekka słodycz, wychodzą też jabłka calvados? Cierpkie, z umiarkowaną kwaśnością.
3.9 Bottled. Almost completely clear body, pink with gold. Tiny beige head. The aroma has grapes, mature oak, rhubarb. The taste is like a sweeter version of champagne. Wonderfully refreshing and delicate.
3.6 Bottle a golden yellow colored beer with a white head aroma malts apple citrus fruits spicy yeast and sourness flavor malts apple lemon lime spicy fruits oak and sourness in the aftertaste
3.9 Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks troubles. Cloudy orange. Great barnyard funk, oak, orange, marmalade, lemon, a bit of apple, light sweetish note, bitterish hint in the finish, medium-bodied. Great.
4.1 Aroma only light funk, lots of muscat wine, vanilla, raisins, some alcohol. Taste light funk, light acidity, again lots of muscat wine, woody, raisins, rather sweetish, heavy finish even, probably partly due to the high abv. Very tasty but somewhat heavy: lacks a bit of "subtle richness" to be truly exceptional for me.
3.9 At Tom's Place, pours rusty with a small head, aroma of brett, fresh, green tea, funk, floral, flavor of brett, green tea, funk, pretty sweet, slightly sour, fruity, medium bodied, nice
3.6 8-3-7-4-14 Bottle, three years after bottling. Pours light hazy golden, with a small creamy head. Aroma is tart fruity notes, with hay, farmhouse notes, red berries and sour candy, as well as bretty wooden notes. Full body, with average to fizzy carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity notes, with hay and berries, as well as grassy bretty notes and some alcohol burn.
3.8 Bottle at home. Pours hazy yellowish brown with a small white head. Aroma has sour fruits with some earthiness. Taste is apple, pear and earthy spices. Nice one!
3.5 Bottle@Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. Soft, balanced with averagely sour fruits. Apple. Vinegary. More bias trough yeasts. Light/medium body with light/medium carbonation. Overall, high quality though bit simple. 7 3 7 3 15
4.4 C: Darker in colour than the 77, no head left. 4/5 N: Citrus, mainly lemon, Barnyard, citrus, leathersoap, utterly lambicnose. 9/10 T: Quite mellow flavour; citrus, lemon, leathery flavour, even a bit buttery 9/10 MF: . Dry, but not bone-dry, some wheatslickness, very low carbonation. 4/5 O: Surprisingly mellow, not quite like the other Vats. 18/20 Thanks to M & L!
3.5 Bottle @ benzai. Clear golden to amber colour with a medium sized white head. Smells sour, green apple, dusty, minty. Tastes sweet, apple, pear, fruity. Not sour at all. Slightly dusty. Medium body, soft carbo.
3.8 Flaske. Smagt op mod Tilquin. Orange i glasset. Dufter af fad, stald, appelsin, lidt nødder. Sur og lidt sødme. Underlig bitter afslutning. Føles flad og lidt olie. Smager lidt af appelsinskal. Meget funky og speciel. Ikke en crowdpleaser.

3.6 De geur is lekker fris. Weinig schuim. De smaak valt mee. Had een beetje zuriger mogen zijn voor mij
4.5 OrangeHazy, HoneyGueuzey & mit der wärmenden StrongAleEleganz. Woody, samtig, citrusy & unbändig umgarnend. Heavy Vat Shit Again. 355ml Bottle from BEYOND BEER!?

3.7 Botella @Señor Lúpulo. Despacho de cervezas, Gijón 28/10/2017 Color ambarino corona de espuma blanca, aromas madera, sabor dulce final agrio cuerpo denso.
3.6 75cl Bottle @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. Golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, oak, herbs. Taste is citrus, apples, sweet, vinegar, oak, spices. Medium body, soft carbonation.
4.0 Kolor bursztynowy, klarowny. Piana jest biała, wysoka i średnio trwała. Redukuje się do spienionego kożucha. Aromat intensywnie owocowy. Alkohol idealnie ukryty, niestety, nasycenie średnie, ciało podobnie średnie w kierunku do pełnego.
3.6 (bottle, 37.5cl) Almost clear, deep golden colour with a short and slightly off-white frothy head. Woody lambic aroma with tart notes of apples and barnyard funk. Moderately sour flavor with a delicately alcoholic sweetness from far behind, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Mildly funky cidery apple-fruity taste with woody notes; mildly sour-tart finish with shades of alcohol shining through. 03.X.17
