Boon Oude Kriek
Oude Kriek Boon is one of the finest examples of the 100% spontaneous fermentation fruit-Lambic style. 400 g of wild cherries per litre are fermented together with a blend of young and old Boon Lambic that has been aged in oak casks. After clarification, the Oude kriek is bottled and refermented. It is unsweetened, unfiltered, unpasteurised and has no artificial flavourings, preservatives or colourings added. Brewed in Lembeek, the village that gave Lambic its name. Pour slowly in a flute glass without disturbing the yeast sediment in the bottle. Cheers !

My first traditional artisinal ale in far too long and, to be honest, the reason I don't rate much these days as I can't acquire many but are bombasted by modern NEIPA's or adjunct muddled ales from the myriad of modern craft brewers. Anywho, onto the tasting. A 2014 vintage. At just on cool and into a Lambic shaker. Settles a radiant and shimmering ruby claret with good clarity until the lees go in. Head falls short as expected to settle as just a ring of beige on the meniscus. A beautiful combination of hessian, oaken woodiness, perfume, rose musk, sour cherries and rich muscatels fume the nose tickling the olfactories. On the palate it is dry, moderately carbonated, woody and earthy with acidic fruit on the mid-palate. A good lot of salted soft-rind cheese in the aftertaste, Lots of hessian/horsehair. Not puckering, actually just a dry Brut of a Kriek. Perfume musk and rose throughout. Very easy to drink. Nuances of funk keep it lively but it is a neat and tidy Lambic. Would've liked more but loved it for its balance. Quaffable for a 6.5% ABV. (37,5cL, Batch #60605, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Taste: along the same lines - dry 🍒, funk, cherry stones.
Overall: nice.
Bottle from Wine Reserve, Cobham. Vinous aroma with peel and cherry stone. A sweet edge from the cherry. Opaque dark ruby red. Foamy pink head. Medium-heavy sour with a fruity streak. The sourness gains sourness before mellowing as I drink more. Light-medium bodied. Slick
Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Lovely sipper with a mellowness to it.
Looks fantastic! Aroma is ripe cherries and yeast. Taste is wonderful ripe dark cherries, chocolates, and oranges. Prunes also.
Shared with Seb A :big cherries, light dust, funk. App: hazy red pink with whitish pink head. T/p:med body with moderate long acidic finish. Moderate carbonation O : Decent one. It's bold on the fruit there's just not enough barrel to my taste.
Bottle, 2017 vintage. Cloudy ruby with light pink head. Aroma is some funk, vinegar, marcipan, lots of cherry. Mild sourness with a hint of sweet. Moderate carbonation. Delicious!

Clear ruby with a pink head. Aroma of sour cherries. Sour taste with a sweet taste and a sour quite dusty finish. I do like my Lambics and gueuzes and even the occasional kriek but this one didn't do it for me as it tastes dusty and dull.
Bottle from SAq. Pours ruby limited head no lacing. Notes are cherry pie, tart cherries. Taste medium/big tart light sweet. Light body reasonably aggressive acidity.

Typical smell of a lambic beer with a strong cherry note. In taste lambic sour with a nice cherry note.

Bottle.2017 edition. Deep red purple color, huge pink-red head. Lovely aroma, full of cherries, funky, barnyard, notes of oak barrel. Moderately sour, lots of cherries, cherries pits, marzipan, oak, light sweetness, funky, lemon, dry finish. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Delicious. Classic Kriek.

Deep dark red colour, small pink head, aroma of cherries, slightly lambic. Taste is full of cherries, medium sour, medium sweet. Nice. Cherries kill lambic.
Barwa głębokiej czerwieni, klarowne. Piana średnia, jak na styl, dość trwała.
Aromat lekko dziki, wiśniowy, zapowiada, że piwo będzie kwaśne i tak też jest. Wytrawne, intensywnie wiśniowe z pestkowym posmakiem. Goryczka jest, ale z wiśni, nie chmielu, wysycenie wysokie.

Ruby red pour, no room for head or lacing. Cherry on the nose, some funk. Taste start and then cherry, chewy cherry. The most pleasant cherry overwhelmed beer ever. Medium body, smooth. One isn't enough.

Now this was a treat. Got at a restaurant in Brussels, light red pink color pour from bottle with heavy cherry note, nice and smooth very balanced with sour and tart and very refreshing but not overpowering sour. This is a very tasty brew!

I think 2016 edition?!?. Great beer. Dry, slight astringency, tiny hop bitterness, some cherry notes, rather thick texture. Amazin' beer. High drinkability - no hipster nonsense.

Bottle - 375ml. Dark red/purple, opaque body with a huge pink foamy head. Strong cherry aroma with oaky, malty, and spicy hints. Its sharp, well balanced cherry taste carries oaky, yeasty, and malty notes. Ends with a long sour finish. Enjoyable.

Overall: It tastes and smells reminiscent of a nice cherry soda or cherry candy because of its ripe cherry fruitiness. The nice fruiting process gives this lambic some more drinkability. The complexity is somewhat low. Good fruited lambic.

The aroma is yeasty, raspberry citrus. The flavour is moderate to light sour, with a light, crisp, yeasty, red berry fruit, sugary boiled sweet, mineral palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
