Bootleggers Knuckle Sandwich

Bootleggers Knuckle Sandwich

Knuckle Sandwich DIPA is an American Style Double IPA. This is a beer that truly lives up to its name! Brewed with copious amounts of North American hops, this Double IPA has a colossal hop profile and an aggressive aroma. Helping round out the floral and citrus notes is a huge malt backbone that provides a great mouth feel to this heavyweight hitter.

3.8 Bottled. Pours hazy deep golden with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus, peachy notes, apricot, lightly floral and with some caramel too. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and solid bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice DIPA indeed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.8 65 cl bottle @ Timo A. Bottled on 16.03.2016. Pours clear amber color with a small head. Strong resin on the nose, hops, pine needles, malts and caramel. Flavor is sweet resinous hops, caramel, bitter malts, tropical fruits, some pineapple. Slightly on the sweet side but the alcohol is fairly well hidden because of that, I like the heavy bitterness, could be slightly fruitier though, heavy. 5524
3.5 22 oz bottle. Bottled on 03/16/2016. Courtesy of olio. Clear bright amber red color with a small tan head. Resiny and sweet pineappley hoppy aroma with sugary sweetness and mild alcohol in the aroma. The flavor is resiny hops, übersweetness, strong maltiness, cookie malt and mild bitterness. Somewhere between DIPA and Barley Wine.
3.5 Amber colored, moderate head, good lace/retention. Aroma is grapefruit, orange, citrus, caramel, light alcohol. Medium to full body, orange sweetness with moderate bitterness.
4.4 Flaska i Djursvik. Fantastisk doft av ladgård druvor o drag av fotbira. Underbar doft. Smaken är först en behaglig maltsötma sedan kommer persika o apelsin, en bred smak. Mycket krämig o behaglig beska. Mycket god öl!
4.4 Flarra . Jävligt kraftigt rostfärgad dryck. Doftar mycket fruktigt av mest druvor. Smakar myckrt fruktigt av persika, äpple , lite apelsin . Lakrits. Jävligt fyllig Dipa.
3.7 An orange amber DIPA with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dank floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light sulfur, resinous and complex. In mouth, a nice doughy caramel malt with loads of resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, alcohol warmth, dank musty character, nice. On tap at brewery.
3.5 Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: clear amber beer with medium carbonation and small white foam. Smell: resin and caramel domination. Toffee and pine. Taste: full body with caramel pine domination. Good malt base. Pine and dry bitterness. Strong taste and body. Good attenuation. Pine and resin finish. Aftertaste: caramel, pine and dry bitterness.
3.7 Sampled at a tasting. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Smells of citrus hops, grapefruit. Tastes like malt sugars, honey, citrus and caramel. Bitter-sweet aftertaste.
3.5 Mahogany color with white head. Aroma has a heavy malt backbone with earthy and piney hops. Taste starts hoppy with intense bitterness and a solid malt backbone. Heavy body with medium carbonation. Not bad but it’s very old school and generic.
4.3 Got o few months back at the tap room downtown Fullerton. Not a typical imperial IPA at all. It poured a little darker than the light orange IPAs. Had a great balanced caramel and pine hop aroma. Flavor of more malty than usual xxipas. Definitely had strong pine like northwestern hops. Different for sure and in a good way. Very impressed.
3.9 Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy, off-white head. Lots of fairly dank hops in the aroma, some melon, grapefruit. Medium sweet falvour with loads more dank hop character, big on the melon, oily pine, grapefruit, some sweet pale bread. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately sweet and resinous on the finish, with mellow pine spice, sticky melon and papaya, more grapefruit. Very tasty. Quite rich, but still highly drinkable.
3.7 7th December 2015 Hazy deep amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Decent carbonation. Creamy malts. light but sweetish. Good hops - crisp orange and smooth pine. A little resin. Smooth spicy sweet finish. Sound and drinkable.
4.0 650 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper amber colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of heavy piney hops, citrus, sweetness and biscuit. Heavy flavour of huge piney bitterness, caramel sweetness, menthol, grapefruit and deep jammy fruitiness. Full bodied. Extreme. Despite being heavy the drinkability remains good.
3.7 650ml bottle Bottled 08/28/15 - Pours copper orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, loads of grass, pine, resin and herbal notes. Taste is malty, sweet, heavy and caramely with loads of toffee, grassy hops, herbal notes, pine and resin. Finish is sweetish, slightly stuffy, malty and hoppy with massive amounts of pine, resin and herbal grassy notes. Quite malty and sweet, old school west coast DIPA.
3.5 I’ll start off saying this isn’t super fresh, so take this with a grain of salt. Nose of sweet, slightly burnt caramel malts, some citrus, pine, and danker hops. Taste follows, with bitter, slightly soapy hop finish. More barley wine at this point than DIPA. Booze is well hidden.
3.5 My Bottom Line: Burnt honey and bitter resins fight it out alongside citrus fruit in this rich and sweetish Double IPA. Further Personal Perceptions: -A sheet of foam covers the misty pale amber. -This is not an easy drinker, even for the style. At least, the name makes you expect what you get. -The wealthy mouthfeel is comfortable. -This feels like an old-style DIPA; more sugary and with a coarser bitterness. Bottle.
4.0 On tap at the source. Pours a reddish golden. No head. Aroma is pine. Some bubblegum. Alcohol is evident. Smooth clean. Nice beer.
4.6 Deep orange clear pour with carbonation coming up through out from bottom of glass. Oily hop and citrus aroma and flavor. Bitter finish.
4.5 650ml to cervoise glass. Pours deep orange-red. Plentiful head which dwindles down to a lasting ring of light tan head quickly. Malty with notes of caramel and pale malts. Hops are spicy, floral and lemon/orange zest. Some good peach and mango as well on the finish. You can tell immediately that it is 10.0 abv. Strong beer...good beer...highly drinkable...but look out...it kicks.
4.7 Pours gold in color, some decent head. Big hop nose with piny and resny aroma. Hop forward palate with back of lightly kiln malts.
3.2 [2/18/15] Draught at Bootlegger’s Brewery in Fullerton. Clear amber. Big resinous and piney hops aroma. Sweet malty flavor with caramel and resinous bitter hops. Medium-bodied.
3.8 Tap at Commons Alehouse, orange pour, white head, nose is oranges, taste is super bitter and awesome
3.5 Appearance was clear deep orangish gold with creamy off white diminishing 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are malt forward, citrus with a touch of alcohol. Taste are malty, yet sticky pine, grapefruit and orange creep in. The backend is to alcoholic, more like a barleywine. Palate was soft Co2 with slick full body, the malty sticky lasting finish. Overall it’s a malty DIPA, only 2 months old. Taste more like a American style Barleywine.
3.5 Solid DIPA However not typically my bag of Tea. Beer pours an Amber color with minimal head. Tropical notes but what i’m not a fan of is the sweet caramel malt this beer carries. Not a bad beer by any means just not my favorite style of DIPA
3.3 22oz bottle picked up at BevMo Clear dark golden with a medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is malty, caramel and fruity. Taste of caramel and sweet malts Ok, to malty for me.
4.1 Bottle to glass. Pours a mostly clear copper rust color with a thin light tan head. Aroma is full of fleshy tropical fruit hops, caramel sweetness. Flavor packs the same punch. Tons of fleshy fruit hops. Medium body with a long lingering sweet fruity hops. Excellent imperial IPA!
3.7 (tap) cliear, bright amber colour with a small tan head; aroma of grapefruit; rich, balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish
3.1 Draft. Pours amber orange with a white head. Toasted and rustic grainy malty notes, earthy and floral hops, and lighter piney notes. Not bad.
3.2 Poured from a bottle. Clear amber with small off-white head. Piney aroma. Taste of pine with a little sweetness.
