3.5 Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a blue tinted- golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer big of a sweet blueberry smell mixed with a little bit of a wheat aroma. Overall, simple, but rather authentic in nature. Taste – The taste begins with a blend of light malt and moderate blueberry flavor. It is moderately sweet upfront, but not in an obnoxious way, with it gaining a little bit more sweetness as the flavor moves on to the end. Some wheat and honey work their way into the tongue as well, and when mixed with the rest of the flavors ends up leaving a crisp, moderately sweet, but authentic blueberry wheat flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite thin with a carbonation level that is on the average to slightly higher side. The thinner body is fantastic for the refreshing character and blueberry flavors of the brew all while the slightly higher carbonation only accentuates this even more. Overall - One of the beer blueberry beers out there. Not overly sweet, with a nice blueberry taste and a rather refreshing feel. A good summer brew.
2.7 Medium amber pour with a 1 finger, wispy off white head. Aroma is cereal, blueberry, citrus, and under ripe berry tartness. Flavor is citrus, toast and pie spice up front, then some cereal, some blueberry, and a little spicy, floral and citrus hops. Light body with a light to medium, blanketing and somewhat sharp carbonation. Decent overall, pretty well balance between malt, yeast, fruit and hop components, there just isn’t enough depth or heft to it. I do like the way the flavor presents itself in the first couple of seconds, but it falls pretty flat after that.
2.2 12 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount into a wine glass. Amber and clear appearance with a beige head. Very mild aroma of toasted grains, wheat malts and light fruity blueberry notes. Similar flavor, fruity, bready and lightly tart, somewhat quenching at first. Light, thin body with average carbonation. Pretty dull for a fresher bottle (EB 7-22-14). Kind of hard to drink, pretty bad, border line drain pour towards the end, for someone who rarely ever does that. I could barely finish it, gross.
2.7 12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Enjoy By: JUL092014. Appearance: Pours a clear, light amber-toned body with a small, near white head. Smell: Mild, oddly joined notes smelling of blueberry, toasted grain with a thin edge of caramel. Taste: Vaguely bready, mealy maltiness, not really characteristic of wheat. Light, ’off’ honeyish sweetness. Low blueberry flavor. Faint hops, very light bitterness. Drying, lightly fruitiness. This one just doesn’t come together AT ALL. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Overall: Kinda Bleh.
2.7 bottle shared with pals, clear copper color with no head, aroma is gross, taste is meh, just ok, some malts and fruit, not a fan
3.0 Draught at Boulder Beer Tap House - DIA, on April 3, 2014. Clear golden to amber color, off-white to yellow head. Fresh, berry, light malty taste. Blueberry, some malt aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, low to very low bitterness. Sweet, berry scent. Stated to be 5.2% ABV and 12 IBU, seasonal MArch-July.
2.3 Didn’t do it for me. The sweetness of wheat malt and the sweetness of the blueberries clashed rather than working together. Not absolutely awful but far from being enjoyable.
3.3 Bottle. A- Blueberries, wheat, mixed berries. A- Copper color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Average sweetness, blueberries, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish. O- It’s balanced fairly well, but there is just something about it I can’t totally get behind.
2.5 7/22/2010. From bottle. Light amber color with a white head. Malt and corn aromas with a hint of blueberries. Bready flavors, again, hint of fruit, but just bland.
3.1 Nice clean reddish brown with white foajy head. Subtle fruit, but mostly slightly danl malt. Dry finish.
3.2 On tap at the Denver airport. Pours a near clear deep amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice combination of slightly tart blueberries and wheat. Flavor has sweeter blueberries throughout with wheat and a bit of biscuit.
2.9 Bomber from ABC on Apalachee. Clear orange pour with minimal off-white head. Aroma is grainy caramel mash. Tastes are sweet cereal and pleasant blueberry. Not much more to say - grainy blueberry.
1.3 No blueberry at all. Inadequate carbonation. Not offensive but not worth drinking. Meh
2.6 Eww. This is not pleasant. There’s no acidity, it just tastes sweet and flat. Not my thing.
1.5 Draft at Coalhouse Pizza. Gross and fake tasting. Corn syrup galore. Don’t try.
2.6 Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a transparent amberish orange with white lacing. Smells of dough and mild blueberry. Tastes like it smells with an average (at best) mouthfeel. Not good.
2.8 Deep gold pour with light white head. Aroma is more wheat than blueberries. Flavor is light blueberry, sweet wheatiness, and a flat wheat bitterness. Medium bodied with ok carbonation.
2.9 Bottle. Light amber pour with an extremely large, off white head. This is usually an indicator of infection. Grassy, sour berry aroma. Can definitely tell this is infected when trying to drink it. Whats left of the flavor isn’t terrible, but its an overcarbonated mess. Potential re-rate if the rest of the sixer isn’t infected. Re-rated 8/3 - Light amber color with a thin white head. Grassy, light berry aroma. Subtle blueberry flavor with a light, wheat finish. Average carbonation with a light body. 2/6 in the six pack were infected.
2.4 Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a smallish white head on it. Nose has some blueberry in there, but not a whole lot else to talk about. Taste is a little sweet and somewhat tart with the taste of blueberries, as you’d expect. Meh.
2.5 Thin aroma. Thin with a buildup of blueberry that is distinctly lacking in tartness. Slight malt beneath but watery.
2.9 Draft: Poured a hazy white yellow with white head. Aroma is fruity. Taste is similar with blueberry and wheat.
2.5 Tap. Pours clear brown with a trace of head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is cereal and cookie malts, floral hops, figs, and faint blueberries. Flavor is bready malts, blueberries, and light hop bitterness; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.
2.8 Draft. Pours clear medium brown with almost no head. Tastes like berry, syrup, slightly dry, slightly sweet. light body and low carbonation. Not much aroma, slightly sweet.
2.6 The beer is a common theme fruit beer with a blueberry flavor that is not overwhelming. The beer is all malt with no bitterness. A drinking beer
3.2 Bottle: The aroma consists of light blueberry (a generic berry aroma may be a better description), wheat, and grass. It pours a transparent amber with a one finger pink-tinged off-white head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with some sweet blueberry flavors. The finish has light-moderate wheat, bready notes, and light grass. It’s light bodied with moderate-heavy carbonation. Overall, it falls into what you’d expect from a fruited wheat beer, but it works well enough here that this wouldn’t be a bad summer thirst quencher. It’s better than I expected.
2.6 On tap. Pours a clear pale amber color with a finger of white head. Aroma of faint blueberry and wheat. Taste is pretty much similar to the nose. Malty, wheat, and light notes of blueberry.
2.1 Pours amber, with nose of dirty socks and vomit, followed by a hint of blueberries. Taste is much better than the nose. Lots of honey and wheat with a t ad of blueberries on the finish.
3.3 Sample at brewfest. Nice beer, good blueberry flavor on this. Very sweet berries, refreshing, much better than I expected.
3.0 From tasting notes. Bottle. Pours light orange with a medium, white head. Bready aroma with light blueberry notes. Light, slightly tart blueberry flavors with bread notes and a hint of citric hops.
2.6 Bottle, enjoy by Jun 27 2011, enjoyed here in mid-February 2013, another Monster Beverage Special! Take this one with a grain of salt, then, or an aging experiment, with the promise of a re-rate. Nose isn’t stale, berries are quite faint (earning the ’kinda’ title?). Fizzy amber-golden gradient body with a short off-white head. Watery light body with a minimum of malt present, dash of blueberry in seeming syrup form, some sort of spice seeping in from the normal wheat? No bitterness, sweetness is definitely under control, hint of process but no metal or anything like that. Plain and uninspired, but the idea is a good one and end product is fine even eighteen months overdue.
