Boulder Beer Mojo Risin

Boulder Beer Mojo Risin

Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

3.2 Flaska 33 cl. Klar bärnstensfärgad med lite vitt skum. Svag kryddig doft. Lätt spritig smak med en hel del humle.
3.7 Poured from a tap. Clear golden color, medium frothy white head with nice lacing. Slight pine and floral aroma. Full body with a nice floral flavor and a medium.
3.6 Pours a slightly hazy golden with an average size frothy off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, caramel malt and sweet fruit. Tastes of resin and citric hops backed by caramel malt along with some spices. Medium body.
2.8 355ml bottle. Deep golden pour, large white head that sticks for a long time. The aroma is caramel nougat with some spices and grapefruit cutting through slightly. Falvor is boozy and sweet, jsut too much malt and not enough hops to balance it, metallic, some bittersweetness. This is the kind of ipa someone picks up then says they hate ipas.
4.0 From the 4-pack of bottles, I am honored to get a taste of such a very small yield, getting a taste of 120 barrels is like being at an exclusive keggar. I really appreciate the extra malt moving it to 10%. The taste is mellow like Steely Dan song, the buzz is the same.
3.8 22 oz bottle. Tasted on 3/14/15. Bottle courtesy of Espo. Nice grapefruit & citrus in the nose. Taste was pretty well balanced & pretty smooth for the ABV.
2.6 On tap, poured a clear golden hue with medium white creamy head. Light grassy aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are hay, grass, and grapefruit pith. Full bodied and warm finish.
3.0 This followed a three floyds DIPA, which may effect score. The malt/hops combination is just a bit off for me. Too much malt makes this seem flat to me.
3.5 12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of grapefruit, some pine resin. Chewy. Caramel, toffee, backing was nice. Alcohol is noticeable. Lots of serious warming.
3.6 "funny..i like their smaller hoppy beers better. this one comes off as too thick and resiny for me, although it’s still good. there’s a biscuity character as well...good, it just doesn’t hold up to the highest standards of the style."
3.7 Pours an orange/amber color with slight head. Nose is like a bag of oranges - strong and nice nose. Taste has some citrus, pine and bitterness - but there is something a drop off - still good, but not "elite" double IPA. Can definitely pick up the alcohol, too.
4.0 Transfer from BA review on 6-3-13- Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a beautiful clear amber color with a half finger of white head. The head sits around for quite some time eventually slowly fading over time to leave a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is big and sweet with a decent hop hit. The sweet is a mix of caramel and lots of tropical fruits of tangerine and mango. The hop aromas are mainly of a citrus nature and have some other smells of a floral nature as well. Rounding out these sweeter and hopped aromas is a light alcohol smell as well as a bit of breadiness, overall creating one very pleasant smell. Taste – The taste begins with a bready base mixed with some sweeter fruit and caramel. With these flavors so too comes a grapefruit citrus hop taste. The grapefruit grows stronger more toward the end of the taste where it is joined by some other hop of a pine nature. More toward the middle of the taste the fruit flavors of tangerine get quite a bit stronger in flavor, matching the increase in the grapefruit hop nicely. With the arrival of the pine, so too come some grassy flavors as well as a moderately strong alcohol flavor. These flavors, when all combined, take the taste to its finish were a semi-sweet mainly citrus hopped and lightly boozed flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thick with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower to average side. Both are fine for the style which when mixed with the boozy tastes keep it a slower sipper of a beer. Overall – The look and aroma of the beer are quite fantastic. The taste is decent as well as it has an alright blend of sweet and hop with a nice warming taste and feel.
3.6 Good beer....typical hop overload like most of the solid double India pale ales out there.....
4.0 12oz pour into tulip. Clear orangy gold colour. About 1 finger of head, light lacing. Big pine, orange aroma. Also slightly floral, hint of alcohol. Very smooth going down. Bitter. Taste of alcohol is well hidden. A solid double IPA that I’ll look for in the future.
3.8 Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thick frothy head. Subtle, hoppy aroma. Strong, grapefruit and tart taste. Dry hoppy finish. You can definitely sense the power in this one. Really good brew,
3.7 8/8/14 bottle from CBO. BIG Orange/citrus nose. BIG Pine citrus taste. Smooth thick mouthfeel. Will seek out again
4.3 On tap in Madison. Bright orange straw in cilor. Good size head. Very citrus smelling. Orange maybe. Extremely bitter tasting. Cross between grapefruit and an orange. Very good.
4.0 On tap at Brews Brothers in Madison. Orange gold cot with nice white head. Very floral aroma. This beer has an amazing floral and slightly tropical flavor. Sweet malt comes through as it warms. Long bitter finish with a strong oily feel. Warms well. Very good
3.9 Draft into a baby tulip - nose is citrus and caramel. Sip adds grapefruit with an almost rye aftertaste. Light body at first whilst sipping but gets heavier shortly afterwards. I have stopped commenting on appearance for a long time but this lacing is phenomenal. Odd.
3.8 Great amber pour with a perfect frothy head. Great fresh aroma. Super fresh citrus flavor with a strong grapefruit emphasis - super bitter! I’m not a big fan of bitter (so I marked it down a little) but they definitely did it well with this one!
3.4 Tap at Ale House. Pours copper brown with a big off white head. Aroma is grains, citrus, pineapple. Taste has some caramel, pineapple and citrus up front, which leads to a strong grassy bitterness in the finish.
3.8 12 ounce bottle. Deep honey gold color. Large bubbly beige head. Light grainy toasted malt aroma. Toasted malt flavor has bittersweet backdrop and sweet malt flavor. Can’t get it out of my head, like ELO!? Hard to believe this is 10% ABV. Great clinging lace. I want to go play a Door’s record and look at the label. All in all, a nice DIPA.
3.7 Not too bad but a bit light on the IPA taste, light scent and ok taste that fades fast, nothing bad to say but nothing really stands out either
3.2 Pours clear gold orange with 2 finger white head. Aroma is faint, not picking up much at all, a bit creamy, light grapefruit. Taste is muchmore hoppy thhan the aroma, really long lingering bitterness,a bit harsh, dryy finish. Not bad not great.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/28/2014. Pours crystal clear bright orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of citrus hops and moderate malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of juicy hop flavors and moderate malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Good complexity of juicy hop flavors and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.
3.4 On tap at The Tap in Bloomington Ind. Gorgeous deep amber color with next to no head and minimal lacing. Grapefruit nose with a tad of high abv sweetness. Punch of bitter up front that lingers with malt and ends like an IPA should. This is an American beer.
1.3 Pours slightly hazy gold with a extremely active carbonation and big white head. Aroma is heavy bubblegum type strange yeast, with lots of malt to, a bit to intense in the wrong way. Syrupy unpleasant texture with sweet citrus hops. Its just got a very oily texture, and the hop flavors don’t work well with the malts. Very dry also. Honestly its kind of a high ABV train wreck and I’m not a fan. I think the yeast doesn’t work well with the malts and hops either. Pretty hard to drink, and the bubblegum type flavor I’m getting from the yeast just permeates it and makes it way to rich, don’t know how else to describe it. Upon finishing the beer I had to lower the score because I just couldn’t do it. I had to dump it, the heavy yeast flavor was making me nauseous. I really don’t see the appeal here.
3.1 bottle. amber with small head. sweet but also very bitter. seems like it’s trying a bit too hard to be something.
3.0 To sweet for an IPA. Actually the grape taste reminded me too much of southern comfort........of which I am not a fan
4.3 Satan i gatan här finns allt!!. Fyllig frisk lagom beska lagom maltsötma som balanserar å tydliga ladugårdstoner . Så här ska en RIKTIGT bra Dipa smaka. Jippi .
