Boulder Beer Pass Time Pale Ale

Boulder Beer Pass Time Pale Ale

A perfect companion any way you pass time, this British-style pale ale is exceptionally soft and sweet compared with highly hopped American-style pale ales. The hop subtlety, distinct malt character and rich caramel color of Pass Time Pale Ale work together to create a smooth, lightly carbonated ale.

2.8 A golden ale with a thin creamy off white head. A light sweet malt with cinnamon notes. In mouth, a raspy sweet nutty malt, with faint British hops, a bit cloying. At Boulder Beer Tap House, DEN, August 28 2009.
2.7 12oz bottle from Old Chicago. Pours clear golden with small white head. Aroma is malt and caramel. Flavor is pale malts and caramel. Kind of boring.
2.7 Bottle. Pours clear dark gold with a half finger tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is sweet malt and earthy hops. The taste is caramel, fruit and light hops in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Has the strange taste in the background that most organic beers I’ve had have had, yet it’s not organic so not sure what’s up with that. An ok beer in a pinch.
2.8 The color of weak tea with no head despite a vigorous pour. An aroma of very sweet fruit and caramel. Flavor is also sweet fruit with caramel and light spices. A bit of wood and malt, too. It is a decent representation of the style but not a great beer.
3.1 Pours a clear amber with a white head. Aroma of thick malt, corn, honey. Taste is similar with some malts present. Kind of thinner than I was expecting.
2.6 Pours a fading beige head with a pale amber body. Aromas of malt, mellow hops, and a hint of cabbage. Flavor is bread, citrus hops, almost tart.
2.6 From bottle. Nice color for it’s style with a nice head. Overall, an average and ok beer.
2.7 Pours amber with a thick white head. Honey, malt, and a bit of caramel in the nose. Flavor is similar, just a touch of hops thrown in with the malt. Finishes smooth. Decent.
2.1 Smells a little hoppy and candylike. Darker than pale yellow, a little brown in there. Dull hoppy sensations on the palate. Decent creamy carbonation, tingles abit between the tongue and roof. Medium bitter hop sensations linger on the back of the throat. Rotten unacid orange or citrus finsih, but in a good way.
3.2 Pours amber with a decent white head. Aroma is light caramel malts. Flavor is also caramel malt, with a slight bit of citrus and bitterness on the finish.
3.0 Sampler at the Boulder Beer Company, Boulder 10/10/2007 Pale malt aroma. Golden coloured smooth on the palate and malty with some dryness and bitterness in the finish.
3.1 Aroma is a light hop profile. Poured a clear amber with a decent off white head. Flavor was okay, light hoppiness then a sweet but very light tofeeish. Palate was pretty easy and relatively clean. Overall not bad, probably good for an afternoon of drinking.
1.2 Extremely cloudy amber pour with a decent head that looks good. The only positive thing I can say about the appearance, unfortunately. Big time sediment. Definitely not supposed to look like this. Taste is way off. This must be a bad bottle.
2.6 Copper color to a relatively good but somewhat watery pale ale. Fruity notes make it worth drinking.
2.6 Coppery color and a white head. Light aroma. Metallic taste. Kind of fruity. Mostly malty. Kind of watery. Slight molasses in there. Kind of sweet. Not really anything good.
2.5 Fairly boring. Decent looking light amber. Honey, corn, undefined grain in the nose. Malty palate and surely lacking in hops, even by English Pale standards.
3.0 Sampled on 4/6/2009. This Pale Ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, orange and earthy. A medium bodied Pale Ale. This one is much more in the English style of Pale Ale, more malts than hops. The malts are caramel and semi-sweet. The hops are earthy and a touch floral. The carbonation could be a little more prevalent. Its not real hoppy or real malty, but a nice balance anyway. This would make a decent session ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
2.6 Draft, Old Chicago, Fargo, ND, USA. Hazy amber, very little head, little aroma. Weak sweet flavor of caramel, honey with a sweet syrupy aftertaste.
3.4 Fruity malts, slight pine notes. Yellow amber, frothy medium head. Biscuit honey sweet, mild bitterness, nice balance. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, crisp malty finish with some slight hops. Nicely put together easy drinking Pale Ale.
2.6 Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head. Some buttery malts, some light nuttiness with sweeter caramel and some mild earthy bitterness. A hint of citrus.
2.9 Crushed with Jakebra. Sweet nose with some hop backbone. Flavor is very smooth but not very hoppy. More sweet than anything. But not offensive and very drinkable.
2.6 Pours a crisp sorta dark amber with a 2 finger white head that has decent retention and fades to a skim. Aroma is caramel, planty hops, grain, toast and fruit. Flavor is biscuitt malt, pine hops, toast grain, pale malts, caramel, citrus, and straw. FInish is straw and bitter, planty hops.Slightly subpar EPA.
2.9 Nice strong copper coloured body with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of hops, metal, malt, apricots and a light spiceyness. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppiness up front with a mild malty character and a good amount of sugars throughout. Aftertaste shows bitterness from the hops, but nothing else really. Overall, a bit one-dimensional, but showing some good characteristics. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverages in Albany, New York on 05-February-2006 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
3.5 As - Boulder Beer Pale Ale - 12 Fl oz bottle, thanks to Beave from the AA forum! On December 27, 2008. Hazy golden to amber color, fluffy cream colored head. Hoppy, floral, spicy, swet, malty scent. A bit thin floral and grassy taste. Also herbal and buttery. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterenss.
3.6 I am surprised this gets such a low rating. I thought it was a good, well balanced PA. The label has a pretty little painting on it. Fairly dark pour with no head. Unexpectedly rich aroma with floral hops and honey malt scents. Mellow malt flavor with modestly bitter hops coming into play. The mouthfeel develops a nice tingle. This tastes fresh and clean, the way one wants a beer from the Rockies to taste. Hear that, Coors
3.2 Light amber with a thin white head. Aroma is light maltiness and caramel faint hops. Taste is a light fruitiness, malty, its ok.
2.5 Bottle. Clear bright amber-gold with small off-white head. Fairly bright hoppy aroma is balanced, nothing special but clean with sweet malty character. Decent carbonation is pretty soft. The flavors I do not care for, way too sweet for me and lots of lingering caramel malt. Nose promised more hops than it delivered.
3.0 Golden-amber colour. Slightly herbal aroma with caramel, earth, wood undertones. Fairly uneventful, slightly metallic character. Vaguely caramelly taste. The body is somewhat light and there is hardly any bitterness. The thing with assuming a pale ale is British by virtue of it having no hops is that the end result tastes nothing like a British ale, just like a lame American one.
2.5 Enjoyed from the inventory at Rock Bottom.Kind of off-aroma. Looks like apple juice, with a little white foam and lace. Taste is apple juice and ome hops. Overall OK, carbonation a bit fizy. Glorified apple cider, serviceable hoppiness. Passable beer.
2.7 Draught at Boulder Beer. Clear golden - white head. Amber malty, sweetness, caramel, grassy, wood, hay, straw, acetone, cardboard. Boring - bad.
