Boulevard Boss Tom's Golden Bock

Boulevard Boss Tom's Golden Bock

The smooth, soft maltiness of Boss Tom’s Golden Bock is complemented by a crisp but restrained hop presence. The mild warming quality of the beer makes it perfect for days when there is still a bit of a chill in the air. The beer finishes with a lingering dryness, and just a hint of caramel.

2.6 On tap at McNellies. Pours a clear gold with white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has a lot of musty grains with a light wet grass and sweetness. Flavor has musty grain and wheat with a bit of earthy grass.
3.1 Bottle. Pours pale gold with a large white head. Pretty aggressive pour. Aroma is minimal. Flavor is bready malt, some caramel, slight nuttiness and spiciness, mildly hopped and bitter. Starts moderately sweet, ends pretty dry. Lagery crispness. Medium mouthfeel.
3.6 I enjoyed this brew three days after it’s best by date. Still found it crisp and fresh tasting. I had this in a pint glass rather than the recommended stein or dimpled mug. Boss Tom’s is on the job indeed. Good carbonation enlivens the citrus clover notes. Lots of complexity in a light gold package. The malts are grassy with a pleasant honey like sweetness. The hops are truly well integrated in this bock. Fresh. lemony and bright they coat the palate nicely. Very session-able this is a solid effort. I could do this with brats anytime but a lemon garlic pork also comes to mind. I tend to be skeptical of many American bocks..but this is good stuff.
3.2 Bottle from unclemike. Pours gold with white head. Nose of cereal and light flower. Taste reminds me of unbaked pretzel dough. Body is light to medium. A solid drinkable lager.
2.8 Clear dark gold pour, white head, malty funk aroma, taste is a smooth some vanilla, with a bitter end, not bad, nothing to order again tho
3.0 Bottle sampled in Exira, IA. Pours a clear golden orange color with white head. Grainy, earthy, malty flavors.
3.9 12oz shorty bottle. Filtered tan-orange body, thin white head. A pretty well done Heller Bock, sweet and malty, with delicate yeast tones. Smooth and sweet, with perfect subtle nuances, this is really a great example of the style. Rich golden malt, pungent authentic yeast undertones, peppery noble hop bite. Right on, nails it.
2.9 The color of this beer is a clear dark golden color with a medium white head that fades quickly, and the aroma combines hints of bread malts and sour dough yeast. The taste combines a mildly sour and a slightly sweet flavor, which, when paired with the light body, slick texture, average carbonation with a bite, and a slightly sour finish.
3.8 Pours a clear, full golden with a buoyant, thick eggshell head. Nose involves prominent doughy yeast, spicy hops, faint dust and cellar notes, soft citrus and evergreen. Quite sweet initially with a cleansing bitterness. Medium-full bodied, creamy, actively carbed, with a scrubbing dry bitter finish. I really enjoyed this. It isn’t especially demonstrative, but the nuances of the nose in conjunction with how it presents on the palate impressed me. Simple yet complex at the same time. Cool brew.
2.5 Aroma is a bit grassy but faint. Taste is very mild with some peppery notes from hops. Some hops left on the palate after swallowing. Not my favorite beer, but refreshing nonetheless. A bit too crisp and grainy for my liking.
2.8 Bottle. Clear light gold pour with minimal head. Grainy, bready malts. Touch of caramel sweetness. Lightly hopped.
2.7 A - An aggressive pour reveals a dark golden body with a small head that disappears. No lacing. S - Bready malt, toasted nutty lager yeast, some dry grain. T - Grainy from start to finish, honey-like sweetness melded with an assertive lager yeast, mild grassy hops stick to top and back of the mouth and create a little pepperness on the finish. M - Light to medium body, very crisp for a Maibock. Overall good brew here. Nose was a little weak but other than that it was good. Hops really show up in the aftertaste. Always nice to see a Maibock in a breweries lineup. Serving type: bottle 04-20-2011
3.3 Golden pour. Very nice herbal/bread/citrus aroma. Flavor is slight spicey, slight almond. Great aroma, decent flavor.
3.1 2013 bottle to a pint glass. Pours a clear golden yellow with a soapy white head. Aroma is malt and caramel. Taste is banana and malt with some biscuit. A little sweetness and very little bitter. Medium oily mouthfeel with a little alcohol warmth and slightly dry finish.
3.2 Pours crystal clear gold color (looks great in spiegelau pilsner glass) with lots of bubbles and huge white head. The aroma is light malts. The taste is crisp and refreshing with light malts and a slight sweetness.
3.3 12oz Bottle A - Pours clear pale golden with one finger white head that dissipates quickly. S - Baker’s dough, biscuit. T - Malt base with mild bitter hop character. M - Light/medium bodied. Big lager bubbles. Mild bitter finish. O - Simple & straightforward malt Lager of sessionable quality.
2.9 Clear deep gold, decent white head. Nose is malt. Sweet in the middle, bready, slight alcohol kick. Creamy malt on the way out. OK.
3.0 Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grain, biscuit, bread, hints of orange, grass, slight spice. Taste is a mix of slight biscuit, vanilla, hints of slight grapefruit, orange, slight vanila, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.
3.6 Moving out of KS rate-a-poolza. 12oz bottle poured into a .25L Corsendonk goblet. Bottled on the 38th day of 2013. Best by 06//13. Donated by somebody at the Lawrence Brewers guild Pours with a small head and a clear golden body. A vortex of carbonation bubbles from the center. Aroma is pretty damn hoppy for the style. That hoppiness is mixed with a clean lagered biscuit maltiness. Flavor is similarly hoppied past traditional (but not to strong) with a good white biscuit maltiness. Goes down easy with a slight hop bitterness and a soft white bread malts aftertaste.
3.5 Bottle. Sweet barley malt aroma. Clear deep gold with a large white head. Sweet barley malt and light, slightly spicy, grassy hops flavor, as well as some light alcohol. Medium body, lively carbonation.
3.4 Pours a translucent with a medium lacing white head. Aroma of Cheerios, lightly toasted malt and lightly spicy hops. Flavor of Cheerios, lightly toasted malt and light sugary mouthfeel.
3.2 Aroma of wheat and yeast. Pretty nice head and not-bad lacing. Bready, smooth flavor. Like the mouthfeel a lot - creamy without being thick. Only wish it had more aftertaste - between this and Summit’s heller bock, which I also had today, I prefer Summit’s and its citrusy lemon finish. This is still very drinkable, though.
2.5 pours a clear yellow with a small egg-shell head, and good lacing. smell is of grain, a touch of wheat, malt, and some citrus. taste is of roasted malt, some grain, some citrus, and hops in the back, ends a little on the dry side.
2.3 Pours a rich, almost sparkling, amber with a medium white/tan head. Aroma is lightly of hops with an accent of honey and grains. Tastes moderately sweet though nothing too exciting. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a clean finish. Overall, a "middle of the road" beer, not bad but nothing to rave about either; sure to satisfy but not a first choice beer.
4.9 Boulevard brewing company is my favorite micro brewery but this is probably my least favorite of their beers. Having said that it is very good, great taste but this beer just wasn’t on the level of the other boulevards.
3.3 Pour from a 12oz bottle. CLeam amber brew with white head. Aroma of malt and aromatic hops. Taste is moderately sweet malt at the start and a nice dry finish. Nice.
1.5 Just an average beer with no notable things I normally enjoy. Boulevard makes some decent beers but I would say this is on the bottom of my list
3.5 Tap @ The BeerMongers... Pourd pale golden with thick, eggy head. A nice drinking lager. Mild hippiness with low bitterness. A little but of citrus ness, doughy cracker-like malts. Some wheat and sweetness too.
3.4 Bottle: Poured a copper color with a whispery white head. Aroma is sweet grass, cardboard and malt. Taste is sweet veggie and soft malt. Very fresh.
3.1 Pours honey gold with a thin white head. Aroma is malt and some honey. Taste is also malty with a bit of grain and caramel sweetness.
