Sometimes the stars align so the seemingly simple can be turned into something sublime. This magic concoction from our alchemist brewers is one such instance. Here, layers of espresso and roasted fig flavors slowly emerge, while Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness. Noble German hops add spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish.

4.4Bottle. Pretty much pitch black and opaque. Strong aroma of malt with some roastiness. Really good. Very warming going down. Tastes just like and Imperial Stout should.
3.912 fl oz bottle. Pours black with an off white head. Chocolate, coffee, plum, blackcurrant, liquorice, blueberry, bit nutty. Good body. Tasty.
4.1Can't get Blvd. here, so this was my first sample. Brought down from GA for a test tasting. I was told "stout", so was expecting something lighter like a sweet/dry, not imperial. Glad I read the label first or really woulda got me by surprise. Thick/heavy black appearance. Typical chocolate malts, coffee/toffee flavors, etc. Wasn't prepared for a sipping beer at the time, so would have to try again someday for the true sample. Really looking to try the Bully Porter or their regular sweet stout though. Drink too many of these at once and you'll discover the "dark truth"!
3.919/1/2019. Bottle from New Beer Distributors, New York shared at the second Kesgrave 50/50 bottle share. Pours almost black with a frothy tan coloured head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Medium to full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. Very good.
3.912oz bottle from Total Wine and More in SAhort Pump, VA What a great experience. Tasting these Imperial Stouts you are transformed. The stout pours a rich opaque black color with a tan head and lacing down the glass. The coffee and roasted malts attack your olfactory senses. The stout has a complex taste structure of caramelized onions, licorice, and espresso coffee. The stout has a medium to full body and soft carbonation. The high IBU for a stout maybe creates some of these divergent taste that we experience. Wonderful stout. This is the beer for a cool winter day on the deck watching the sunset.
3.5(~torré, hop-cuivre, onctueuse, foutoir puis ok : first-lacto, en-hop, last-µ-fumé-café, rétro rye-prune, sweet-us-stout)
3.7A very well-balanced imperial stout. The hops nicely balance out the flavor of malty roast chocolate and coffee. Nothing that complex about this beer, but it is put together well. Excellent representation of the style.
3.512 oz bottle. Pours a dark impenetrable brown witha big thick dark tan classic stout head. Scents of caramel, alcohol, raisin. Tastes very chalky with a sweet undertone medium sweetness, with a slight sour bite and a chalky finish. Full body, sticky, lively carbonation with an astringent, short finish. Nice stout
3.4It pours dark brown, almost black, with a brown head. Head retention is moderate. The initial aroma has some sweetness to it. It has some roasted malt and coffee notes. There are faint dark fruit notes, slight plum. The flavor has dark fruits in moderate strength with moderate roast and low coffee. The dark fruits are mostly plums. It has a moderately full body with a bit of harshness in the finish. This is mixed with a sweetness as well. Overall, the malts with a bitterness that is somewhat harsh si counterbalanced with a sweetness from the esters.
3.312oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma is caramel, molasses, raisin, and some spice. Taste is toffee, spice, herbal hops, licorice, dried dark fruit (raisin, plum, and maybe something else?), and some earth. Relatively strong hop presence. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Oily-sticky mouthfeel.
4.0Draft. It poured a dark brown in a traditional pilsener glass with a 3 inch sold mocha color head that slowly disipated leaving nice lacing. The aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malt. It also has notes of dark fruits - raisens and plum - on the backend along with some smokiness. The taste is sweet as expected. Very warming. Tasty.
3.6Bottle. Black with a light tan head that settles to 1/2 a cm. Gentle aroma of mocha, light dough, spices. Slightly earthy. 7+ Full bodied, quite spritzy. Rather more assertive upon a taste with firm, almost acrid roast and tight spices. Some dried fruit and a more insistent earthy note than I'm keen on. Fine finish is roasty with plain chocolate, spices and a fair whack of bitterness. Pretty good, but not all that harmonious.
3.5Extremely thick and heavy, this beer just felt like too much to my stomach. A lot of things going on here, but i just didnt like the flavor that much.
4.0Black. Big , beige head. Roasted malt, coffee, leather and some dark fruits in aroma. Flavor follows. Malty sweetness perfectly balanced by roasted bitterness.
3.8Bottle from QC. Pours an opaque black-dark brown with a fluffy thick foamy sudsy head that settles down a bit. Streaky foamy legs. Smells of roasted coffee, dark malt, plum, cherry, faint cocoa and honey, wood chips, moderately herbal stony bitterness, moderate Belgian spices, dark and crisp. Taste is sharp dark roasted malt, light plum/fig and spice, finish is long and a little sweet and sticky. Body is very smooth, fizzy, not thick or syrupy, bitter and clean. Good! Dark, complex, sharp/roasted but bitter and smooth.
3.8Bottle from QClub at home. Dark dark brown pour with fine foamy cappuccino colored head. Aroma is plum, roasted coffee, sawdust-y malt, in a good way, and alcohol. Taste is big deep roasted coffee bitterness with dark fruit and caramel sweetness. American imperial stout with some slight Belgian accents. Boozy. Slightly slick palate. Lasting coffee bitterness with alcohol warmth. Would probably get again for HK$52.
3.9Bottle. Pours a black with frothy full head. Aroma of raisins, fig, cocoa, coffee. Medium heavy body. Thick and creamy. Light sweetness. Dry finish. Very nice.
4.3355 ml bottle bought at Q Club in SoHo, Central.
Looks: Opague deep Cola blackish brown colour; One-quarter finger head with soapy beige foam which fades in 40 seconds; Good sticky lacing with zero carbonation.
Aroma: Fragrant dark malt, with strong roastyness, Rum booze, strong liquorices, vanilla, strong custards, dark chocolate, dark fruits, coffee beans, caramel, sticky toffee, sugar, spices, herbs, bread, yeast and grass. Intriguing!
Taste: Mid to strong sweet roasted dark malt, with strong tartness, Rum booze, sharp liquorices, espresso, strong dark chocolate, caramel, burnt toffee, dark fruits, floral, brown sugar, spices, strong herbs, biscuits, lemon and mid to strong bitter grass hops.
Body: Close to Full body; Slightly oily and slick palate.
Mouth Feel: Strong dark maltyness in a fairly viscous background. Fine Rum booze followed by full blasts of espresso, burnt toffee and dark chocolate. Flowery with right on nice sweetness. Spicy, very herbal liquorices with lemon to round. Tasty!
Hoppiness: Spice, Grass in nose. Floral, strong herbs, spice, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness - hops and burnt malt - is quite strong for a lasting, close to high astringent sweet-bitter roast malty finish.
After Taste: Quite dry. Boozey espresso and bitter to mouth.
Comment: This one has a fine and layered characters of custard, Rum, espresso, chocolate and dark fruits, and backed up nicely with potent spicy herbal bitterness. Artistic and sublime, I much prefer this type of Imperial Stout than those oily sickly syrupy train wrecks. Two thumbs up!
3.1Aroma seems typical of a stout. I can definitely tell the difference between this and a regular stout, the increased ABV makes a difference in the taste. Well-crafted, this beer does a good job of incorporating certain elements into the palate.
3.5Poured dark and smooth from bottle at Flights 101 club lounge, SFO Marriott. A lighter note than expected with a smooth mouth feel, tiny champagne bubbles. Burnt coffee and earthy, thin thin head
3.8Little bottle, not the big corked and caged one pictured here. Very dark brown with a khaki head that retains beautifully. Molasses, dark chocolate, touch of licorice, dark fruits, pithy bitterness.
4.1liquid bronie color, nice tan head, mild choclate coffee aroma, slighly bitter, backround spice notes, a little sweeter than most stouts, but overall nice complex flavor.
4.4A splendid beer. Why can't they all be like this? (What I mean is, why can't a PBR or Milwaukee's Best taste this good, this strong, and this cheap?).
3.8Dark brown to black colored, medium- tan creamy head, OK lasting. Aroma is of malt, caramel and roasted, coffee, dark fruits, bit alcohol. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, bit caramel, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruit, medium roasty bitterness, some alcohol, warmth. Medium+ bodied, soft carbonation, oily-creamy.

4.0somehow, I have never had this; 12 oz bottle to glass. nice aroma - brownie, coffee, roast. dark pour. nice taste - it wasn't overly roasted or bitter - the dark fruits or Belgian qualities smoothed this out some - will have again; enjoyed.
3.2Rami Rami is drinking a Dark Truth Stout by Boulevard Brewing Co. at Kamienica Hoża 41
Session ris do chlania, nic zlego, nic wyrozniajacego na + specjalnie.”. Pijalny, alko schowane, palony, kawowy, polwytrawny.
3.6Pours thick black with slight head. Aroma is brown sugar, chocolate and a hint of roast. Taste is dried fruit, molasses and chocolate. Finish is typical Belgian yeast strain. An interesting stout, put together in a manner that keeps you off your toes.
3.6The truth is, it's 3:30 am, I'm trying to work, but I'm not that motivated. I just need to get over this hump and I think a nice cold beer will do it. The beer is dark with a 1.5 cm frothy and undulating head, which has some staying power. This head is protecting the beer from spreading it's aroma, so it's tough to get a full aromatic profile. I give it some time and take to sniffing the empty bottle. From it, I get lots of soy and light caramel. The beer itself gives off chocolate, coffee, and some light grains. Taste is smoky malts, dark chocolate, some sourness, brown sugar, coffee and through the head...strong bitterness. Perhaps the sourness was a bit off putting, but overall and solid imperial stout.
3.9Dark khaki head on dark dark bottom, i smell molasses, red wine, alcohol and milk chocolate—quite a nosefull. Resiny hop flavor with underlying molasses, alcohol and almost lemon. Lighter on the palate than most stouts, but is that a bad thing. My tongue feels stung. Very active finish.
