A citrusy celebration of Pacific Northwest hops, Heavy Lifting IPA is a West Coast IPA brewed with Midwest sensibility. Cascade, Centennial and Chinook shine contributing zesty grapefruit flavor and aroma while pale and caramel malts contribute just a touch of sweetness to keep this hop vehicle balanced and super drinkable.

4.4Golden orange color looked great in the glass, nice aroma of citrus and hops, and this poured from an almost frozen can beer tasted great. It tasted like it smelled, hops and citrus, maybe lime, I enjoyed it a lot.
3.412oz can. Filtered orange body. Foamy off-white head. A pretty respectable IPA, some decent hop depth, leaning towards a modern feel, but still has some respectable malt depth too. Not exactly mind blowing stuff. Middle of the road.
3.512oz can - It pours with a big thick frothy off white head and a clear vibrant gold ale. Nice aroma of grapefruit, lime, lemongrass and hint of a bready straw malt. A lot of citrus hop flavor and a bit astringent.
3.7Great aroma, pine and citrus hops. Taste is nice, lemon and citrus, some pine as well. Ends dry. Palate is medium bodied with decent carbonation. Overall, a good ipa, would get again.
3.4From a can, past it’s best by date. Opened an absolute gusher -- about half the can ended up on the table. Once that excitement died down, the pour was gold with an off white head. Aromas of pine and grass. Flavors same. Decent Ipa despite the drama.
3.2Can. Hazy golden body with a frothy white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of pine, lemon, resin, floral hops, toasted grain, cereal. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. This beer is all about the hops. Taste of pine, citrus, resin, grapefruit. Not much finesse.
2.8Hoppy aroma. Light yellow color and mild cloudiness. Mild start with a smooth, mildly bitter finish
3.4Can 12fl.oz. @ Craig’s - Edinburgh.
[ As Boulevard Heavy Lifting IPA ].
Light unclear medium yellow color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, dusty hops, grass. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, pale malt, dusty hops, fruity hops. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. 3.412 oz. can, pours a clear copper with a large, foamy white head with good retention. Aroma is multi-dimensional in the hop department, with perfumey, dank hops, some pine, and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour is upfront on the piney hops, followed by some citrus zest, and dry toasted biscuity malt. Dry, lightly bitter and toasty on the finish. Pleasant stuff.
3.4Can. Heavily malt forward ipa. Pine, earth, grass. Not hitting the spot right now.
3.6Pours a classic golden with a well-retaining white head. Citrus and pineapple nose. Mildly oily mouthfeel. Some mild astringency emerges from mild carbonation. Two row malt-like backbone adequately supports the citrusy character. Dry relative to the bouquet.
3.112 oz. can at wife’s work party. Poured hazy, amber, white head. Aroma was pine, pine needles, grapefruit. Taste was bitter, hops, fresh pine.
3.3Pours a clear golden yellow with almost no head. Aroma has some grass and citrus and more than a little soap/cleaning fluid. Flavor is a bitter, dry citrus, with grass in the background. Not the greatest.
3.1$2.20 can, Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours golden-orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of tangerine, Flintstones vitamins, pine. Overall, not very strong.
Taste is lime peel, bread, pine, some other random citrus. Kinda strange as it’s a short burst of flavor that goes away quickly, with only a mild pine/lime flavor lingering. Totally fine, but this one wouldn’t stand out in a crowd.
3.612 oz can. BB 18/Nov/16. (Econo Foods) Marquette, MI.
Clear golden color with a small white head.
Citrusy and piney hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and some maltiness in the aroma. Rather fresh. The flavor is piney and citrusy hops, moderate bitterness, cookies, lemon, dryish malt and some dryness. Not bad.
3.5Appearance, nice golden color. Taste of grapefruit, citrus, and pine with small amount of bitterness. Decent ipa.
3.5[Can (12oz)] Pours a deep orange with a large semi-lasting fluffy white head. A bit of lacing. Dank hoppy aroma, fruity as well and a bit bready -- gets fruitier as it sits. Simple but pleasant flavour of piney hops. Moderate bitter finish. Average bodied. Just pretty good.
3.512 oz can from Dutch’s from notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a larger off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale lightly toasted malt, yeasty bread, citrus and floral hops, straw, citrus peel, dry finish, ok.
3.3Can from Hy-Vee. Very pale pour. Lots of citrus flavor. Flavorful, but the aftertaste is a little odd to me, can’t quite figure it out.
3.3Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, quite fruity, citric. Flavor has faint sweetness, nice citric hops, and a crisp bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.
3.8Pours a copper color with a foamy white head. Aroma is fruit, citrus, pine, and some resin. Flavor is juicy citrus, pine, and resin. Has a lively mouthfeel and medium body. Good stuff.
3.412 oz can poured. Part of the canned mix pack from Boulevard that recently made it to Seattle. Pours a clear pale golden color with a lasting cloud foam head. Soft grapefruit hop aroma. Big hops throughout here, but above average sweetness, and blends oddly with the bitterness. Sweet melon like finish, with a fading subtle bitterness. Other than the maintained sweetness, nothing bothered me about this one. A less than typical, good IPA.
2.3Not to be a buzz kill but this appears to be a marketing bait/switch. Labeling and name suggest something that it’s not. But no stats on the outside boxed 6 pack feel sneaky. Sure enough, tastes like a session IPA that is maybe 5% ABV. IBU’S near 80? Digging into website reveal 6% and 80 IBUs. Not "Heavy" at all with regard to any scale and not as cheap as a session IPA. Duped by Macro.
3.312 oz can: Aroma has got a nice fruity hop note to it, very light or maybe no malt characteristic. Appearance is a clear golden with a thick white head that lingers. Taste has got a nice hop texture to it, floral with a light sticky resin note. Palate is light bitter notes and citrus happiness. Overall, Decent stuff nothing great. Cheers!
3.6Clear slightly lighter amber color, moderate head, good lace/retention. Aroma is pine, citrus, caramel malt, grapefruit. Pretty straightforward, but what’s here is good - pine and grapefruit flavors dominate with moderate bitterness.
3.6Drank from a large tulip glass, poured from a can,
this ale poured a clear light to medium orange-gold into the glass and gave a one to two finger creamy, white cover,
the nose had grapefruit and grass hops, light malt with a little bread, orange and tangerine fruit, sugar and bread like sweetness,
the flavors were grass and grapefruit-lemon hops with a touch of pine, light malt, orange and tangerine fruit, some malt sweetness but less than on the nose,
the finish had a gentle to medium hop bitterness,
the mouth feel was light to less than medium, it was creamy and had average to lively carbonation,
a nice, light drinking IPA that had a good presentation, easy to drink, I think this IPA is quite quaffable, but get permission first before doing so.
4.6Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a fairly clear golden amber with a large white head. The aroma is an amazing blend of pine, hops and citrus. The taste is a near perfect match of the aroma. An outstanding beer.
3.8Can pour. Falls squarely in the west coast ipa realm. Orange gold with solid head. Aroma is lots of grassy hops with some floral and fruity notes mixed in. Flavor is largely bitter. Minimal malt note. Palate appropriate. Good brew
3.7Very hazy golden and straw coloured body with a honey glow and a nice, two centimetre tall off-white head that leaves a nice lace on the glass. Aroma of grass, dry herbs, light funk and more grass - very fragrant with grassy and herbal notes of hops throughout. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and banana flavours at first with some fresh cut grass, herbs, light grain and a bit of flowers, but this is all about the grassy hop element and a good balance with malt. Aftertaste shows some good dry notes along with a solid complexity showing the hops, but also a good deal of malt and herbs. Overall, a nicely balanced IPA that shows a ton of grassy, herbal and dry elements. Worth trying if you can get this, since it diverges from a coast-style IPA [from either coast], but still has a nice flavour. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, I Street Northwest), DC on 23-June-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 17-May-2016, almost a year later, but the hops were still showing of course.
