This is where it all started. In 1989, amidst a sea of sameness, here was a beer with spirit and character – a copper-colored classic bursting with caramel malt and zesty Cascade hops. Today, this American icon is our north star, a perennial favorite, a desert island essential.

3.521 Dec 2016, tap at Boulevard. Light gold, clear, no bubbles. Nose is sweet golden malt and mild grassy Ned body and fizzy. Sweet malt, bitter slightly skunky/grassy. Decent.
2.1This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a strongly carbonated transparent orange brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was hoppy malty and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium hoppy aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of breads and hops. Not one that I would likely drink again.
2.7Smooth and not overly hopped so has good balance overall. Refreshing and worth the purchase and calories. Easy to drink and especially good after yard work.
3.5Bottle. Pours a hazy dirty orange brown with a thick white head. Aroma of floral hops, light fruits, perfume, pale malts. Flavor of sweet fruits, pale malt, earthy hops, honey, bitter floral hops in the finish. Light, fruity, very drinkable.

3.012 oz. bottle. Amber, white head. Aroma was pine, fresh grass, citrus. Taste was mild bitter, pine needles, citrus, orange.
3.112 oz bottle. BB 26/Jan/2017. (Boulevard Brewing Co) Kansas City, MO.
Cloudy golden color with a small to medium bubbly off-white head.
Sweetish malty aroma with mild sweet fruity notes. Simple.
The flavor is cookie malt, sweet fruity hops, melon and candies.
Really simple and easy.
3.312 oz bottle from the sampler case. Just another ho-hum and uninteresting pale ale. Add it to the ever growing heap of the ubiquitous.
3.6amber color; piney hop aroma with bready malt notes; piney hop flavor on a medium bodied, bready malt base; pleasant bitter finish
3.4Originally rated on 9/16/08. A hazy yellow and orange tinged body, off white cap, good lace left on the glass. Aroma of lemon, and pine. Tastes of sweet malts and finishes with a hop bitterness.
3.2Draft at The Beer Market at College Town U of R. Menu said Park Ave. Pale Ale made by Boulevard. Must be this. Amberish pour with a thin white head. A average amount of hops aroma. No much citrus in the flavor. There was pine and bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.
3.5Nice well balanced pale ale. The aroma and taste do not overwhelm you with hops. Good choice for all the non hop heads out there. Caramel malt is a welcome addition.
3.1Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel and a hint of floral hops. Flavor is the same but a little stronger of the floral hops. A little thin on the mouth feel as well.
2.1Darker yellow from a bot in the elrey del mundo glass. Nice head. Slight hop perfume aroma. Fairly beefy hop taste impact, a little duller perhaps. Seems like more than 6%. Gets a little astringent towards the end. Almost falls into the IPA style on the finish. L102015
3.0Clear golden liquid, large head. Aroma of hops and vanilla. Light body, little bit carbonation. Taste is bitter and weak.
3.0Boulevard’s first, apparently available in Belgium now that they have been taken over by Moortgat. Draught at Antwaerps Bierhuyske. Thick, lacing, creamy, egg-white head over a pure, orangey, lightly hazy amber beer. Aroma sadly ruined by fairly strong DMS (cooked white cabbage) along with toasted bread, caramel, potato, dried apricot, grass, celery and white pepper. Clean, mildly fruity flavor, dried apricot touch, medium carbo, slick and rather simple caramelly and toasted malt body, mild grassy and lightly floral hop character along with some yeast bitterness but maltiness keeps prevailing. I expected an APA to be honest, but this is clearly an EPA, to the extent this label is still used nowadays; reminded me more of a spéciale belge than an American pale ale and the DMS kind of ruined this for me.
3.6Pours copper with nice head leaving a nice lacing. Aroma: interesting aroma herbs, a touch of "horse blanket" (in a pleasant way, within limits of a pale ale), some malt. Taste: Pretty smooth, but at the same time a nice herbish character, particularly nice in the palate. Interesting.
3.6Draft at Beer Circus. Herbs, malty, light sourish, citrus notes. Lacks the bitterness and exotic fruitiness to be a real winner. Decent.
3.4Draft at DHVL. Clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of weedy hops, herbal notes, grass and light malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.
3.2On tap at the Heren van Liedekercke.
Thick creamy white head. Clear light amber pour. Slight bitterness. Easy drinking.
4.1Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly murky orange color with a large white head. The aroma is mild with some hops and citrus. The taste is a mild flavored pale ale with a slight floral hops flavor.
3.5330ml bottle at the Shrewsbury Beer Share on 17th Feb 2016, thanks to my Son-in-Law for getting this for me while in Kansas City and my wife for bringing it home to the UK. Poured a slightly hazy copper colour with a good sized white head. My nose picked up malts and their molasses in the aroma, these formed the flavour base too, with a light fruity filling that had a citrus trace or two. Liked it.
3.8330ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Feb 16, courtesy of BlackHaddock. Many thanks! Pours hazy copper, large white head. Mild resin sweet aroma. Taste is plump, juicy, fuzzy and flavoursome. Unfussy, easy-drinking, lightly sweet APA. Great stuff.
1.7Boulevard’s entrance into the Belgian beer market is starting to disappoint heavily. I was only familiar with 2 of their Smokestack Series prior to these & them being a well-known USA craft brewer, expectations were high obviously. I understand them starting their entry with the flagship possibly more accessible beers (we might never get the specials) but this is starting to seem like a downwards spiral. We got Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale first which I found to be bland at best. Tank 7 was followed by Single-Wide I.P.A. which tasted like a watery glass of butter, one of the worst IPA’s I have ever had. I figured maybe I tried a bad keg but still. Now we get the Pale Ale which honestly is just dreadful. 250 ml. draft @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske. Clear copper amber with a creamy off-white head. Nose is awful, massively metallic, industrial with big fish guts & some plastic. Thin awful herbal & massively metallic taste, industrial, fish guts, nasty, herbs, cardboard. Thin industrial metallic body. Really unpleasant beer. Finishing my glass was a real struggle. This is badly rated but not that badly rated, what is the issue here? Do I have too high or wrong expectations? Is it really just me? I don’t know but I do know that I would much rather drink Coors Light than this. Honestly they are not planning to convert Belgian masses with this? Come on Duvel you own Firestone Walker please get us that instead.
3.1On tap @Bierhuyske. Pours amber with white creamy head. Aroma is fruity. Taste fruity, hint of caramel, light bitterness.
3.4Amber clear with rich white head. Bitter aroma. Strong dry bitterness with minimal sweetness around. Medium bitter aftertaste with some dusty feeling.
3.5355ml bottle at Beer Station, Xiamen on 2 December. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of citrus with a little pine. Sweet finish.
3.5Bottle thanks to trade with gregwilsonstl! Pours a chill hazed golden orange with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of bready pale malts and a nice fruity hop back end. Taste follows, clean and easy with good balance. Nothing exciting but really well done.
3.7I had this at Global Brew. Pours copper with a white head. Taste sweet, fruit, smooth. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.212 ounce bottle thanks to phaleslu. The beer is a clear copper color with a white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has soft pine notes and some herbal grassy, and green tea. Taste has moderate bitterness, but sufficient sweetness to balance it out. Medium body and carbonation.
3.012oz bottle, thanks to phaleslu. Was surprised that I’d never rated this one. Best by 05/18/16. Mostly clear orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves decent bits and ropes of lace. Medium body with a lighter, kind of soft carbonation. Mild slick. Moderate sweet taste, lighter bitter. Caramel bready malt mostly, light peppery hop. Touch of citrus. Kind of a dry edge to the taste. Nice to enjoy with some leftover pizza, but an alright pale ale on it’s own. Kind of a malty and sweet pale ale.
