Boulevard Snow & Tell

Boulevard Snow & Tell

Go ahead, curl up by the fireplace with this beguilling blanket of a beer. Notes of toffee, caramel and a whisper of smoky malt are beautifully balanced by the spiciness of Magnum, Chinook and Styrian Golding hops.

3.1 Those who observed “session” scotch ale are right on the money. In all aspects - aroma, mouthfeel, taste and (non-existent) alcohol warmth, this is a lightweight. Still, a decent drinkable, malty brew that has its place in the refrigerator. Have one occasionally thru the winter when you want to fully keep your wits about you. Gotta wonder / what the hell did the “barrel aging” add to the overall experience. Not apparent to me. Hint: you’d be wise to let this one warm a little to enhance flavor & body.
3.3 Reddish brown with big bubbles, and a small dark head. Aroma is worty caramel with a sprucey hop buzz. Light and sweet on the palate, with a quick medicinal note upon exhalation. $1.8
3.9 12floz bottle, BBD: 04.06.2018, 25 IBU, $1.75 unit cost, nonic glass. Appears an amber-brown with a small layer of head. Cherry-creme-caramel candy is how I can best describe the aroma. Caramel, maraschino cherry, and toasted notes are evident upon the warmth of the palate. A fine Americanized version of the style that is modestly unique.
3.2 12 ounce bottle. Translucent cola brown color. Small creamy tan head. Caramel, toasted malt nose. Slightly smoky. Light roasted malt upfront. Notes of brown sugar, vanilla and light oak. Notes of toffee and resiny hops in finish. This is a good entry level Scotch Ale for those who are just trying the style.
3.5 Bottle. Happy Thanksgiving. Pours a dark brown with medium full head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, cookie, hop spice, malt, vanilla. Medium heavy body. Roasted malt flavors. It's pretty decent.
4.0 Aroma of vanilla. Taste is malt forward. The oak aging mellows out the maltiness. Making for a well balanced and smooth beverage
3.3 Brown color, which shows some umber when held to the light. Sweet toast and caramelized malt in the aromas. Hints of alcohol and oak. Mild sweet start. Middle is full of more malt. More caramel, toffee and bit of oak. A little more oak in the finish and linger. Easy enough to drink.
3.2 Pours a nice mahogany, ivory colored head, soft and resilient. Nose is wood, cardboard, tea leaves, tobacco. smooth, a bit slick at times on the tongue. Sweet malts galore, not a lot of the woodiness I was expecting, just a trace. Some cream soda and spearmint up in there. very okay.
3.0 Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep copper with some faint amber highlights and small cream-colored head. Simple bready nose, some granola and faint spice bread. Malt forward on the palate, toasted molasses and bitter finish. Not much oak character though.
3.1 A dark amber to brown color with a beige head. Flavor contains some nuttiness with some caramel and toffee and a hint of smoke. The flavor is a bit malty but very dry with caramel, toffee, and some tobacco. The body on this is a little weaker than I'd like with style but overall its aight.
3.7 (12oz bottle) AROMA: moderate malt, dark chocolate, leather, forest, fall leaves APPEARANCE: dark reddish brown, creamy offwhite head, tight foam with minimal big bubbles, almost opaque but clear. TASTE: dark chocolate, softly bitter black coffee, smokey toasted grain, a touch of sweetness upfront, decaying leaves PALATE: medium to heavy body, rich but not overly full, fizzy and a little acidic upfront, OVERALL: a decent ale with solid flavor and punch, not incredibly complex so a bit straight forward, but the flavors that are there are enjoyable, bold and drinkable. Not bad!
2.5 Fairly underwhelming Scotch ale, hints of caramel and oak with a faint toffee and sourdough bread undertone. Very mild, lacking peat or smoky notes and overly dry on the back end, the toasted oak chips adding almost an acrid undercurrent on the fade. Pours a pretty red-orange with dense off-white head and modest lacing. Aroma has a noticeable Styrian Golding bitterness laced with caramel. Good texture, creamy and rich, but overall a skippable pint.
3.3 Pours a deep ruby amber with slight off white head. Light sweet malty and whiskey aromas. Smooth and roasty wth a light body and light whisky barrel notes. Notes: on tap at thebrewery, Oct '17
3.7 12/17/16. On tap at World of Beer. Amber pour under a nice khaki head, good lacing. Good flavor, light caramel and maltiness, oak. Good flavor, nice complexity, caramel, malt, dark fruits, nutty, oak, vanilla, just barely hints at smoke for another layer. Tasty!
3.5 Bottle pours brown with a off white head. Aroma of oak, toast, toffee and caramel. Taste is malty, toffee and grains.
3.1 Draft at City Tap House. Kind of weak for a Scotch ale, but in the ballpark for a winter warmer. Malty for sure, slightly earthy. Scotch, barely. Tasty, yes
3.9 Bottle. Lactic caramel malt, alcohol, and hay aroma. Dark amber with large tan head. Moderately sweet milk caramel malt and moderately bitter wood/hay flavor. Good body - lighter than the average scotch ale. Really pleasant.
2.8 Very very light malt smell with some complexity...Low carbonation and smooth...Roasted malt but much more mild than I thought it would be...Not sweet at all...sorta one dimentional on the roasted malt...At world of beer with john after mexican
3.9 Sixer from Liquor Barn (Jefferson Commons). Aroma: Semi-sweet malts that, combined with oak notes, are reminiscent of whiskey. Moderate caramel with lighter toffee and almonds; maybe a bit of spicy hop personality. Appearance: Dark ruby brown body with a bubbly khaki head that settles into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Sweet, rich malts up front that are met by a oaky spiciness towards the finish, which dries out very well. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Really appreciated the malt profile and oak chip treatment without the crippling ABV that usually comes with barrel aged offerings. Will happily buy again if it’s released annually.
2.6 Shared 12 oz. bottle. Hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee. Taste is malt, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, smoke notes, bread and something unpleasant that I can’t identify. But overall, it’s not very good. Did not finish.
2.9 Aroma: very malty and slightly dry; Appearance: clear dark amber pour with fluffy offwhite head that lingers; Taste:follows nose; not very pleasant; Palate: heavy body with long, malty finish; Overall: not as bad as some scotch ales, but will not get again.
2.8 On tap at bulldog downtown dark red color small tan head Aroma was some malt taste was a flat bland caramel sweetness not my favorite
2.9 Lots of coffee in this oddly, and taste has too much metal like Cannibal Corpse. Dark brown pour with decent head. Astringent finish. Tap at Continental.
2.7 Draft at Wiseguy Lounge at Goodfellas Pizza OTR on December 29, 2016. Very dark brown/ruby color, medium to strong malty and distilled spirits nose, light body, very astringent and unbalanced alcoholic candy taste. Astringency lessens a bit as the glass warms but the flavor doesn’t improve--if anything, the watery body becomes more noticeable. Not a fan of this one.
2.9 Weird beer. Appearance is a clear dark Garnet color small short-lived tan head no lace. Aroma was some malt and that’s about it. Flavor has a strange combination of sweetness and astringency, which also goes into the body which is okay. Just a Bland uninteresting beer over all.
3.2 Sour, woody aroma from a fairly clear amber body with a light tan head. The woodiness follows into the flavor with only a slight sourness. Nice notes of toffee and dark caramel balanced by what seems like noble hops with a slightly more bitter edge. A bit of smoke in the back and more wood in the finish. Nice winter beer.
3.0 12 oz. bottle. Poured light brown, fleeting tan head. Aroma was light roasted malt, caramel. Taste moderate sweet, malt, light molasses, light fruit aftertaste.
3.5 Draft at 2865. It poured a dark ruby color with an off-white head. The aroma was of sweet malts, vanilla and a hint of spice. The taste was similar to the aroma with roasted malts, vanilla, wood and spice. Decent.
3.5 Tallahassee, Fl - Momo’s Pizza - Northside - on tap. Sparkling copper pour, nice thickish khaki colored head. Aroma has some molasses, a touch of peat and some toffee. Solid Scotch Ale flavor with some molasses, toffee, a touch of peat, hints of chocolate. Solid, thickish mouthfeel.
3.4 Nice seasonal offering. Some toast, smoke and funk all about the aroma an first taste. Bitter Chocolate finish, slightly watery.
