A honey-amber colored India Pale Ale with good body, fairly strong alcohol content and an aggressive "fresh hop" quality. One of our most popular brews!

3.0 Type: 16-oz. bottle Glass: Pint glass From: MacKenzie River Pizza in Spokane, Wash. Price: $3.50 (Happy Hour) Purchased: March 21, 2014 Consumed: March 21, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a dark orange, murky color with one finger of white head when I got it. Below average lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-below average retention on the top. Smelled Smarties candy, floral hops, light grapefruit, citrus hops, lemon juice and rubbing alcohol. Really hard to find though. Tasted candied floral hips, light bitter grapefruit, booziness, rubbing alcohol, citrus hips and buttery notes. Medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Astringent finish. Nothing too special. Would not have it again, although this was my second time having it.
3.6 Draught. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a moderate off-white head on it. Nose has some very nice hoppy elements to it, with some piney and herbal notes coming off it. Taste is pleasantly bitter, though it feels just slightly heavy. Pretty good.
3.8 Draft to tulip Caramel, grapefruit, flowers, and tropical fruit Cloudy amber with a thin white head. Lots of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and caramel...very sweet.
3.5 Appearance: Dark copper with orange highlights under a large orange pith hued head which slowly fades into a thin layer with a few arcs of lace. Swirls fluffy. Nose: Pine sap and hop resin. Caramelized melba and bread crust underneath and in the back. Bittersweet whole apples in the middle. Grapefruit oils along the side. Palate: Medium weight with a slick viscosity in the middle and along the sides. Dry finish of pine oils and hop resins. Sticky sweet caramel and toasted malt underneath along with a hint of apple skins. Grapefruit oils along the side. More pine and hop resins in the front. Final Thoughts: Quite the solid IPA from Boundary Bay, a brand new brewery to the Beer Ambassadors. Based on the tastiness of their Inside Passage Ale, we would like to enjoy more of their brews. Can anybody hook us up? Until then, keep brewing because you have a good thing going.
3.4 Bottle from Bellingham. Pours red gold. Aroma is full and sweet caramel; spicy pine, light catty, moderate ripe fruit. Flavor is more sweet, orange bitterness and fruit, metalic finish. Feel is sticky, warning, dense. Not a standout but good.
3.9 Pour on tap, hazy orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of big orange peel, grapefruit, nice lemon, into slight biscuit, caramel, and bready malts, touch of grass as well. Taste is a mix of big fruit, hints of orange, grapefruit and slight mango, touch of spice, grass, slight caramel, finishing bitter, dry.
3.1 Bomber. Pours a dark amber orange with a small white head. Very smooth. Much smoother than expected. Also maltier than expected. Not really bitter. Worth a try though.
3.7 Pours amber, finger white head. Smell citrusy, bit of pine. Taste smooth and drinkable, sticky resin aftertaste. Med bodied. Pretty good.
3.4 Draught at the World Craft Beer Tasting 2013 in Osaka. Quite substantial citrusy nose -- deep and pleasing. Big initial fruitiness, fades to some balance in mid, more sweet than bitter, and has a light bitter finish. Not hop intense at any point.
3.5 August 2012. 12 oz. bottle. Fresh hops, citrus, pine with malty flavors. Dry, bitter finish. A good IPA, but nothing surprising. I would drink it again.
3.5 Draught at Marciero. Sweet and malty, with lots of citrus and sweet oranges, and a bit of tropical fruit. Light enough, easy to drink, and tasty without being surprising.
3.4 Hazy orange-brown with a white head. Aroma is toffee and orange. Flavor is orange and pine, as well as some biscuit malt and a low amount of bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.3 Amber pour. Odd smell, cant describe it. Flavor is mild, flowery, salty, medium bitterness. Decent.
3.4 Bit shocked by how mellow this was considering the rep. Balanced - yes, bristling with flavour - no. Malty, toffee overtones with some solid, if uninspired bitterness.
2.4 Bottle. The first part is great nice hop aroma balanced taste that’s a little sweet behind the bitter. But then the finish is this bad dry sulfur or something and sticks to the back of your mouth. It ruins the whole experience. Unfortunately this was a present so I don’t know if it was a bad bottle or not. Too bad, I was expecting more.
3.8 Slightly hazy copper coloured body with a nice two centimetre tan head. Aroma of apricots, malt, pungent citrusey and floral hops and bunches of honey at the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal hop notes with a good malt balance and a lightness to the finish. Aftertaste shows some citrus and light pine flavours, a little honey and caster sugar sweetness, a hint of alcohol and good malt presence. Overall, a nice lighter-than-average IPA with a good hop flavour and an even better balance. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 11-January-2013 for US$4.49 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 03-March-2013.
3.0 All round pretty damn good beer. Good looking pour, nice lacing even out of my Growler. The hops have to have Amarillo in there or something like that, maybe Australian Galaxy but the tangerine orangey sweet flavours throughout makes me think Amarillo. Definite buy again. Love the brewery, great beers.
3.0 On tap at sunset. Pretty dependably good beer. Nothing extraordinary. Crisp citrus and medium carbonation and finish with a copper body and nice white bubbly cap.
3.4 650 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with light head. Aromas of pine, malt, and citrus. Flavors are similar with a bit of toffee. Nice enough but nothing special.
3.6 Very smooth and balanced IPA. Just enough bitterness, with hints of malt. Nice.
3.2 Decent pale. Not a lot of balance or sweetness here. Would like a little more complexity and maybe a bit more carmel malt to go with the hops.
3.3 pours a semi-clear amber with a small white foamy head, and great lacing. smell is of slight citrus, caramel, and malt. taste is of caramel, hops, malt, some roastiness, and a touch of pine. ends nicely bitter.
3.7 From th e bottle, pours a clear red with a thin white head. Rich toasty malty aroma with some floral hops, sweetness. Much thicker than I expected, sweet and strong, malty, notes of caramel and alcohol, drying in the aftertaste. Good, but only a one per nighter because it is a bit heavy.
3.9 Tap at Hi-Life. Pours an amber-gold with thin white head. Aroma of citrus and piney hops, and wildflowers. Flavor is very well-balanced with a complex mix of hops and robust malt character. A somewhat bitter aftertaste, but not as much as I get in most IPAs. If you are looking for an IPA that is hoppy without hitting you over the head with bitterness (and I was), then this is your beer. Fantastically delicious.
3.7 I really enjoyed this IPA. It pours amber with a thin lasting head. The aroma has some pine and citrus over a malt body with a lot of bread. The flavor is very well balanced, not at all sweet and a bit peppery. It has a very nice lingering after taste.
3.3 Solid pine/citrus/floral hop aroma, though a bit middle of the road. Decently dry, not too bitter in the finish. Drinkable and good. Relatively smooth feel. Some light touches of caramel malt. This isn’t a great IPA but I’d drink it once in a while.
3.6 tap@vancouver beer bar. amber, large head. soapy aroma grapefruit in the flavor
3.6 Cask @ Brouwer’s. Clearish amber with a thick, creamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and light caramel. Flavor is medium hop bitterness with a nice malt backbone. Medium body with cask carbonation. Great dry IPA, seemed very fresh.
3.8 Unclear light copper orange, small foamy tan head fades. Piney citrusy hop aroma. Good intense balance of piney resiny hops and bittersweet caramel malts. Deep and complex. Softly carbed, medium bodied, medium hopped. Bitter hoppy finish. Very good. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.0 Update - Bitter and woody, without any of the sweet floral notes of yesteryear. I am sure my tastes have changes as well. Bottle - Nice balanced citrus hop aroma. Foamy white long lasting head and a bubble clear amber hue. Perfume hopy taste with a candy like sweetness. A bitterness that is midway through making this a very mellow and pleasant session IPA. Update - Draft at brewery, as good. Speaks well to the QA.
