3.8Bottle at Hops, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish brown (though the light was poor) with a small cream head. Said to be a sour beer of the menu, but it isn’t really. The bottle says it’s a “red-brown beer with mixed fermentation” which is probably better. It is sweet, dark and fruity with cherries, raspberries, malts and a touch of chocolate. Very pleasant and easy to drink.
4.2Dark red colour, thick head, lightly brown. Sweet, malty with a very nice mix of frutal notes at nose. Balanced flavor, with a good balance between the ale and the lambic beers. Very interesting by its complexity
3.2Roodbruin bier. Zoetzurig qua smaak. Eigenlijk verrassend lekker.
3.6Dark Very dark red, thick, ebony foam. Sweet, malty nose with red wine notes. Nice vinegar on the mouth, red fruit. General impression of a semi-dry wine, quite noble, very drinkable.
4.5De Belgiuminabox.
3.3Attractive dark ruby red colour. Creamy off-white head although not large, retains quite well.
Aroma malty, didn't expect the taste!
Taste is sour, sharp, but also balanced by a sweetness, hints of woodland berries. Dry biter aftertaste on palate, almost medicinal aftertaste.
Aroma promised more taste than the final slightly watery-bodied reality.
I think. Not something I could drink more than one of but an acquired taste one suspects, acquirable were one to delve into the world of all things lambic.

3.2Skuffende smag
3.6Oscura, sabrosa y suave, poco alcoholica, sabor caramelo
3.3Bottle from Asahiya. Light nasal tang of balsamic vinegar, dark fruit, caramel, and red wine. Very dark brown color, not completely opaque, with mahogany highlights. Flavors are similar to aroma: mild dark fruit, tiny sourness, lightly soured dark fruit. Very drinkable. Kind of a workaday Flanders Red.
2.5Bottle. Brown color with a reddish shine, small head. Aroma is malty, sugar. Taste too, even something artificial I would say. Sweet beer, almost any tartness, no idea what it has of a flemish beer, or why they write lambic on the label...it's a strange beer, nothing too bad but also nothing special.
3.7Pours dark copper, with a finger of off-white head, great retention and firm foamy lacing. Aroma of ripe dates, prunes, raisins and grapes forgotten in the fridge, with a final red wine vinegar note. Tastes tart, a lot of ripe fruits sweetness, matching with the nose, although the flavour remains mild and doesn't deliver well. Somehow watered down. Great unexpressed potential. Medium body, quite smooth and pleasant to drink. Decent, overall.
3.5ruby to mahogany colour, one inch of creamy beige head; aroma of raisins, some dried plum, tannines-woody, red wine, berries and slight acetone notes; taste is surprisingly sweet with sweet berries, raisisns, some plum and deifinite red wine notes; not bad, though I miss the acetic notes a bit (especially in the taste)
1.5Mauvaise mais buvable. Clairement pas assez acide, trop fade, trop moyenne.
3.3bottle that pours almost clear medium brown, orange-red tint, with a small creamy beige head offering some retention and lacing. spicy red maltiness, red brown sugar sweetness - fairly linear; neutral oak forward, no particular foeder-ized action, bacterial or otherwise, dull caramelized cherries, no acidity at all, spices. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; kinda sweet woodsy finish. linear subpar flanders red. o-k.
3.0Bottle - 330ml. Dark brown body with ruby glints and a thin, off-white foamy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with oaky, fruity, and some subtle spicy hints. Malty/hoppy taste carries ginger, oaky, and sweet notes. Ends with a decent sweet/woody finish. Ordinary.
3.3Keg at Gollem (the original one), Amsterdam on 01/04/2007. Interesting looking back that nearly all the sours I had back in those days were Flemish Reds. This one was fairly easy going and quite fruity.
3.1Pours a deep, dark amber coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of caramel malt, sweet black cherries and a hint of red grapes and earthy funk.Taste dominated by sweet, caramel malt and black/red cherries, with lighter brown sugar and red grape notes, as well as just a hint of plums, toffee and some very light, earthy, mushroom funk. Finishes with a very light tartness and some sugared plums and cherries lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This can't quite compete with the likes of Rodenbach or Verhaeghe, being way too syruppy sweet, while the fruity notes feel just a tad artificial as well. This also lacks a profound tartness or funk, which is expected of the style and makes the sweetness stand out even more by failing to provide a distinct counterpoint. At least there is a somewhat decent complexity to the fruity character here, with just enough tartness and funk to keep it interesting, although the overall balance and depth is still quite lacking. It's kind of to Flanders Red Ales what the non-Cuvée René beers by Lindemans are to Lambic.
2.8Tap at Beer Wall in Bruges. A nice try, but the sour smell (almost vomit-like) is a turn-off.
3.321.12.19, butelka z datą do 23.09.21
Aromat przypalonego karmelu i czerwonych owoców, trochę nijaki.
3.0Amber correcta. Suave.
4.0Bottle. Dark ruby colour, pretty, long lasting head, a bit hazy. Aroma of red fruits, red sweet wine, some vinegar, but only a little. Sweet, ripe fruits in taste, almost no sourness. It's somehow not too sweet though, there's a dry finish to it. Surprisingly not sour for a flanders, but still a very good beer
3.2In aroma i can sense some wine notes, some bubble gum and some fruits. In taste little sweet, nicely sour, just like green apple, at the end some bitteness just like some rotten fruits.
4.8Just home from the Belgian Beer Weekend and this beer stood out in the crowd. A very robust flavor that's easy to drink. Smooth with a hint of raspberry. We loved it and will be searching all over for it in the States.
