Breckenridge 471 Small Batch IPA

Breckenridge 471 Small Batch IPA

Hoppy? Brother, 471 redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy. (Available at Breckenridge Pubs and Restaurants and bottled as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA.)

3.5 Sampled from a bottle at the Soho bar in San Antonio, Texas. Copper colour with a whitish head. Extremely hoppy! Lime, mandarin, grapefruit and resin all present. Some sweet maltiness with hints of caramel also, along with an earthiness and some spices. Long finish. A stupendous double IPA.
3.5 Draft. Orange with thin white head. Medium body. Slightly sweet, very hoppy. Ok. Not my favorite DIPA.
3.8 Pours cloudy orange to amber, with white head. The aroma is pine, grapefruit, sweet, caramel, malty, bread. The flavor is caramel flowed by sweet bitterness with grapefruit, malt and more caramel. Hides the alcohol but you can tell its there. The body is very thick. Overall good wiah it hid the alcohol more or it was reduced slightly
3.8 Bottle at home while visiting Jacksonville. Pours gold with a white head. Nicely funky veg aroma. Dank and musty. Medium body, medium carbonation. Sweet, not overly so, with caramel pine, orange, some candy... Good.
3.7 Bottle shared with Jay. Nice amount of bitterness, lightly sweet, slightly syrupy but solid.
2.7 Malty flavor with a lingering after taste. Was hoping for something a little smoother with less alcohol coming through. Wouldn't really call it hoppy.
2.6 Not what I was expecting from a double. Taste is super sweet with some heavy flavors lingering. Boozy through and through and lingers like a oak aged whiskey.
3.4 Big caramel malt and some herbal tea hop smell too. Taste is caramel malt, crackers, pine tar, and herbal tea.
3.4 Served on tap at Breckinridge Brewery. Red Amber color with a white head. Very hoppy aroma. Very hoppy flavor. Some pine and grass flavor as well. Medium body.
3.8 Bomber from dusty...the nose is fantastic on this one...smells like a sherry cask barley wine...mouth was full of hops and citrus...awesome beer....needs to be in six packs.
3.2 Better than average IPA. Mostly pine and grassy with some light citrus notes at the end. Bready base.
3.4 Bottle from Chevy Chase Beer and Wine. Nice amber body with medium head. Nose is hoppy, yeasty, pine. Taste is lots of hops, pine, cactus. Nice caramel notes in there. Enjoyable.
4.2 I love this beer, the taste is pleasurable, not hoppy. This is a great barbecue beer, refreshing.
4.3 Delicious IPA right here! Drank from 12oz bottle, has a nice citrusy, slightly hoppy aroma. Very fragrant smell ;) Really great flavor as well! Instantly reminded me of Stone IPA. Very well balanced hoppy flavor, slight citrus taste, with a slightly malty finish. After tasting it I would have never guessed that this beer is 9.2% Would definitely buy this stuff again!!
4.0 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped 07528B15. It has an amber colored and heady pour. Some haze. A bit of roasted malts on the nose but quickly overtaken by the floral and cantaloupe fruitiness. Medium to heavy body. Quick sweetness and then more abundant bitterness that lingers to finish. For 9.2% this drinks easy.
4.4 Pours a hazy rust orange. Has a strong malt, caramel, and citrus hop aroma. A heavy bossy with a strong malt, caramel, fruit and citrus hop taste. A lingering heavy malt and bitter hop aftertaste.
4.5 Great big hoppy aroma, citrus and floral nature. Flavor of light malts and mostly hops. Hop flavor was fresh and bitter.
2.6 Breckenridge Small Batch 471 is overrated in my opinion. Cloudy copper pour with a head that disappears a little too quickly. Aroma is light malt but not much else. Taste is piney, spicy with some sweetness. Not very balanced -- the over spicy hop notes ruin it for me. If you like a hop bomb, then maybe Small Batch 471 is for you.
4.0 12oz pint glass poured from growler. tasty beer, solid offering for the ABV. not hoppy enough for my complete love, but worth a try.
3.4 Old rating. Dark Orange color. Sweet malts. Citrus and piney hops. Nice oak presence. A bit chewy.
3.8 Solid DIPA. Sweet malt mouthfeel with hop spice, pine, and citrus notes. Nice bitterness and alcohol burn. Pretty big and chewy.
3.8 Pours dark amber with thin white head. Smell is malt, hops and oak. Taste is bitter hops, oak and pine. Heavy body, heavy carb.
3.8 Bottle, 355 ml at Breukelen Bier Merchants as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA. Pours orange to amber with off-white head. Fruit and pine hoppy aroma. Caramel malts, fruit, pine flavor with dry bitter finish.
3.6 bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear dark amber color, 1/2" foamy beige head cover, broken curtain of lace. Taste is strong sweet caramel malt that is interrupted by full-bodied citrus hops on the swallow, but the malt stays on course, sharing the finish with the hops. The finish also reveals alcohol, and, unexpectedly, mild sweet tea. A big-bodied brew, thoroughly enjoyable. Recommended.
2.7 12oz bottle. Copper orange pour wht a small ring of white bubbles around the glass. Aroma is sticky malt sweetness and just a touch of bitterness. The body is full and syrupy with a lot of hop bitterness to the finish. Now I notice the alcohol. Potent, but unfortunately not very enjoyable.
3.0 Not overly impressed with this beer. Aroma is grain not hop. Taste is more sweet thickness with a slight hop bite that fades into grain. Overall not over whelmed or impressed with this beer.
2.7 Really boozy. Like almost dominates the aroma here. Some subtle tropical fruit but lots of alcohol. Really kind of overpowers this one for me. Taste is matly and almost syrupy sweet. Not much else going on. I was excited about this one but it was just kind of a boozy mess for me.
3.0 On tap at DFW. Pours clear bee. Thin off white head. Aroma is caramel some hoppiness. Not terribly bitter. Really nice beer but not quite an ipa.
2.9 Cloudy orange amber color with a frothy off white head. Aroma of resin hops and brown sugar and some vanilla. Flavor of citrus hops, sweet malts, slight resin and alcohol. Not sure this one is good enough to justify the 9.2% abv.
3.5 Bottle. Clear orange-amber with a frothy beige head, lasting and lacing. Aromas of toasted malt, caramel, citrus, and pine. Flavor is caramel and toasted malt upfront citrus, and pine on the back end, light dark fruit underneath. Full bodied, oily with some warmth on the end. Lingering citrusy fruit notes.
