Breckenridge Ophelia Hoppy Wheat

Breckenridge Ophelia Hoppy Wheat

Subtle hints of citrus round out the complex aroma of Mosaic hops, for a beer so drinkable, it’ll last through multiple acts.

3.3 Bottle. Pours hazy/cloudy, lasting white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruits. Taste was medium sweet, citrus, spices, slight bitter finish. Nice.
3.0 Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aromas of bread, fruit and spices. Flavors of fruit, malt and some hints of spice.
3.5 On tap at 2016 Hogs and Hops. Durable white head over a hazy golden body. Medium-light body. As promised, a rather hoppy aroma with biscuits and hints of citrus fruits. Flavor follows. Overall: clean, hoppy wheat beer.
3.2 12 oz bottle, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, earth, pine, hints of orange, lemon, slight fruity notes into bready notes. Taste is a mix of spice, grass, orange peel into a bit of earth, biscuity/bready notes, hints of grain, finishing spicy, dry, slightly bitter.
3.2 Rated on 4-10-2016 (Bottle) The appearance of this beer is a small fizzy white head that is mostly lasting, lightly hazy golden yellow body, lively, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is wheat, citrus, grapefruit, earthy, and malt. The flavor presents light bitterness, wheat, citrus, grapefruit, some malt, and this beer has a dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth with some light carbonation. This beer is light bodied. This is an easy drinking beer with a decent taste but not all that special of a beer that I would seek it out again.
3.2 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had an amber-straw-lemon colored blend with slight sedimentation and haze and a medium-sized foamy white head with good retention, and average cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a light wheat, grass, and grain mix with notes of hops and a light yeast scent. The taste began a little bit sweet and wheaty, with a touch of lemon, but quickly gave way to more bitter grainy and grassy hops flavors, with a subtle, sour wheat finish. It was a fairly well carbonated beer with a lively mouthfeel and a somewhat dry effect.
3.4 Cloudy golden yellow pour with floaters and a white head. Aroma was wheat and some sweetness. Taste was a wheat body with some slightly sweet hops. Dry finish. So-so lacing.
3.2 12 oz. bottle. 6% ABV per the label, so a slight recipe change. Pours a thick, well retained white head, with extensive lacing, over a hazy, yellow (SRM 3) body......nose is light citrus, hints of pine, mild allium, wheat, light lemon, balance to the hops......taste is mildly sweet to start, with light floral tones, citrus tending to lemon, light wheat malts, finishing with a moderate, soft bitterness.....mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, high carbonation with mild acid. This is a not particularly interesting, but pleasant drinking beer. It falls into the style of American Wheat, with extra hops, which makes it a bit more interesting than the standard American Wheat, which is utterly dull. BJCP 6/3/14/4/7
3.0 Decent hoppy wheat beer. Mosiac hops popped. Orange gold color. Very floral and somewhat citrus. Very mild bitteress. Light bodied. Okay, nothing amazing.

2.2 grass, herbs, pale, hazy, white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, light body, oily feel, accident finish.
3.2 Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are hops, flowers, wheat malt, fruits and citrus. Nice and smooth finish.
2.5 A bit odd, unharmonic. Orange coloured and unclear. Has a white head, medium duration. Sweet, yeasty aroma with a lemon note.
2.9 Bottle @ Johns. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of wheat, grain, grass, light citrus. Flavor is wheat, light grain, fruity hops, light citrus. Thin to medium body, average carbonation. 241015
2.9 Bottle. Hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, little hop, little earthy and a little cheesy. Flavour is malt, wheat, hop, medium sweet, little earthy and a little bitter.
2.9 Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, wheaty and light hoppy - elderflowers. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 241015
3.4 Bottle from Chevy Chase Beer and Wine. Bold straw body with medium, fast-receding head. Nose is sprightly, sweet, some citrus and wheat of course. Taste is also wheat, floral, fruits, some hops. Nice finish.
3.1 appearance: cloudy dark orangey amber, with a couple fingers of foamy light yellow head and generous lacing. aroma: some bright citrus in the blood orange and grapefruit vein, with some toasted wheat bread and some grassy, floral hops. taste: as the aroma indicates, trending on the bitter side. finish: dry and relatively bright, with lingering hoppy bitterness and just a hint of creamy malt. notes: Not bad. I prefer, say, the Boulevard 80 acre, but this was pretty good. Bottle from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma combines a musty wheat with earthy grapefruit and a touch of citrus. Flavor is similar with a combination of earthy citrus/grapefruit as well as earthy wheat backing.
3.5 Draught @ Albion. Hazy dark orange with small foamy whitish head, sharp hops aroma, high carbonation, slightly sweet hoppy taste, long hoppy finish with sweetness at the end. Quite an interesting brew with taste starting hops bitter and ending sweetish.
2.7 Great Orange copper color, little head stability, and very cloudy. Malty Orange marmalade aromatics, the hop aroma also seems old. Some pepperness as well. The flavor is similiar with a bit more hop bite. The mouthfeel is heavier then expected. It may possibly be from the wheat. Not my favorite but I could see lots of people drinking multiple pints of.
3.3 Pours copper with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruit and earthy wheat. Taste is mild bitters with muted sweetness. Light bodied and slick texture with softer carbonation.
2.9 August 20th, 2013 - Breckenridge Brewery’s Ophelia Hoppy Wheat sounds like an ambitious blending of two different flavor profiles. And while the aroma has a neat blend of hops, almonds and bananas, the flavor is rather bland. There’s a half-hearted pilsener character, but thin and weak, and not up to the task. Somewhere between the hops and wheat flavor is a chaotic combination of flavor notes, and that’s where this brew lands.
2.5 12oz bottle gift. Light floral hops on the nose. Decent malty wheat taste with some citrus. A clear blue moon clone. Body is silky. Finishes with just a touch of bitter. To be fair, this isn’t my favorite style. This beer doesn’t seem to be remarkable.
3.3 Cloudy copper with a medium head. Average lacing. Nose is wheat, malt, citrusy hops. Body is light. Nice barley and wheat maltiness, followed by some grassy hops. Bit of orange. The only thing off-putting is a metallic sensation late in the palate. Otherwise pretty good.
3.6 2/04/2015 (draught at The Oak in Cincinnati, Ohio): Very hoppy aroma that exudes herbs. Dull pale bronze color with foamy white head. Herby hop flavor with a splash of lime or other citrus, even maltiness, mild to moderate bitterness level. Medium, very smooth and slightly creamy. Very good and quite unique. I had initially dismissed this based on it being a "hoppy wheat" beer, but glad Mt friend decided to try it. I like it quite a bit since it’s so different from the norm.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a murky golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and grass. Flavor of wheat, orange, citrus, grass and light lemon.
3.5 Enjoyed at BTBF 2015. Cloudy yellow color. Hoppy nose with a wheat smell. Flavor is also happy with a very fat aroma. Sweet finished.
3.2 Hazy yellow-gold color with a medium frothy white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, wheat and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of citrus, herbal wheat and mild piney hops. The finish is soft and wheaty with a biscuit malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.
3.5 4/5/15 (Bottle) - Foggy yellow pour, decent carbonation and white head. Yeast and orange aroma. Nice wheat taste with minimal hop taste. Not very strong, very smooth drinking beer. Overall good summer outdoor beer.
