Brew Age Affenkönig

Brew Age Affenkönig

Fruity, fruitier, King of the apes. The big brother of our Hopfenauflauf ale prides itself on a royal hoppiness. Grapefruit, passion fruit, citrus notes. Its malty body nicely balances the hoppy bitterness, resulting in a tart, fruity finish that makes you long for more. But beware! At 8.2% ABV you should show some regal restraint or you’ll make a right monkey out of yourself!

MALTS: Pilsner, Caramel Malt

HOPS: Amarillo, Citra, Columbus, Galaxy

INGREDIENTS: Water, Malt, Hops, Yeast · YEAST: top-fermented

3.8 On tap at Mel's Craft Beers & Diner. It poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of hops, citrus and florals. The taste was similar to the aroma with more hops, citrus, florals, tropical fruits with medium carbonation and a nice semi bitter aftertaste.

3.4 Bottled 330ml.- from Spar Center West Graz. Dark golden coloured, medium sized white head, light citrusy herbal nose. Sweet malty, caramel, candied oranges and touch of grapefruit with some light herbal hops in the finish.
4.0 단맛과 쓴맛이 둘다 느껴짐. 풀맛, 시트러스, 열대과일.
3.8 Bottle picked up from Interspar at Kufstein, Austria and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Thursday 29th August 2019. Pours hazy copper colour, you can tell it's quite viscous. There is a distinct American IPA thing here, crystal malt, thick in the mouth, sweet but good, very good IPA touches, like this a lot, some mushy overipe citrus.
3.7 Pours cloudy yellow to orange with a moderate well-lacing off-white head. Aroma: solid biscuit malts, nuts, melon, tangerine, tropical hints. Full body. Taste: medium sweet and bitter. Honey, biscuit, melon, grapefruit. Medium long bitter ending. Long hoppy aftertaste. Not young anymore. Still, a solid old school IIPA.
3.4 Sehr kräftiger Geschmack, lang auf der Zunge. Bitter-fruchtig. Profibier.
3.6 Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy golden to amber, off-white head. Aroma: Malt and floral hop. Taste: Very malty with medium floral and grassy hopbitterness. Subtle notes of tropical fruit. East Coast IPA-like. Sticky mouthfeel. On the sweet side for an IPA but ok.
3.3 Bottle shared at work. Deep copper pour, white head. Nose and taste are biscuity malts, resinous hops and slight, tolerable fingszag. Long bitter finish, medium body, average carbonation.
3.3 Bottle at foxi Frestäder. Lastin off white lace. Mild fruity hop taste. Low bitterness for an IPA.

3.6 Bottle. Pours clear amber. Aroma is strong citric hops, soap, peel. Body is heavy, super bitter and sweet, lively carbonation. Lots of residual sugars, but still decently bitter. Flavours of tropical fruit and malts. Good.
3.7 Aroma: Fruity hops with malty caramel sweetness. Flavour: Fruity bitter with citrus and malty sweetness. Colour: Hazy orange with an offwhite head. From: Bottle @ Voldby Købmandsgaard Ølmesse Sept. 2018.

3.2 On tap @Ølbaren - Aarhus Streetfood. Pours deep orange, with white head. Scent: Deep, caramel, little passionfruit. Taste: Hoppy, caramel, heavy, high bitterness. Texture: Medium co2, heavy to drink.
3.2 Bottle. Hazy full golden body, creamy white head. Aroma, malt-forward... at first and then some... chicken? Some strange note anyway, seems slightly old, though looking at the date, it should be either fresh or laughably old. Some alcohol and vague herbal hops and maybe perfumey . Eh. Creamy taste, again some umami and fruity/herbal touches, old and too dry. Huh. Wanna try this fresh.
3.4 Bottle. 8.2%. Best before 10.12.18. Pours a bit hazy amber, with an off-white head. Good lacing. Hoppy and a bit fruity aroma. Malt in the background. Hint of liquorice. Flavour is (caramel) malt, hops, light fruit, a bit funky. Bready, malty finish, with hops, alcohol burn lingering, along with a sugary hint. Overall good, though a bit generic. 06.10.18.
