Brew Age Dunkle Materie

Brew Age Dunkle Materie

100 EBC. 16.8°

4.3 Fles 33cl thuis. Droog, bitter, pure chocola, espresso, fruittonen, wat citrus, roasted malts. (3-2017).
3.8 @Bricks, Vienna - dark brown beer with a beige foam left, nice lace; aroma of molasses, dates and prunes; sweet and solid malt backbone, moderate carbonation, pretty tasty, shyly bitter; long hoppy finish of molasses, dates and licorice
2.1 Expecting taste and aroma from the hops, Well i was disappointed. This is not Black ipa imo. A porter - perhaps - but lacking the malt sweetness. A little bitternes from the cold steeped Dark malt
3.4 Another black IPA which fails to find the balance. And again it is the IPA part which is too weak. But a nice porter/stout!
3.3 Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a lasting frothy tan medium head. Aroma is hard toasted malt, caramel, milky chocolate, nuts and pine. Taste is medium bitter and near medium sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is lively. Finishes malty and bitter grassy with long lingering bitterness.
3.8 10-APR-2018, bottle @home, from Kvickly Allerød. Black with a lasting, creamy, tan head. Aroma is hops mostly - grape fruit and pine. Taste the same and also some chocolate and licorice. But emphasis is on the hops. Very creamy, bitter, dry-hopped, and perhaps a bit thin finish. Nice little one.
3.7 Aroma is complex: roasty and hoppy. It smells like roasted bread crust, coffee, dark chocolate with hoppy overtones of citrus, grapefruit, pine, maybe fresh cut grass. Deep black color with a medium brown, good lasting, frothy head. Flavor is medium to heavy bitter. It tastes like coffee and dark chocolate, the hoppy notes are very subtle. Body is medium, mouthfeel is creamy. Finish is medium long and medium bitter. A very interesting and complex beer. 0,33l bottle.
4.0 0.33l bottle. Malty and hopy aroma, citrus fruit and caramel notes, chocolate. Black color, beige head. Malty and hopy taste, fruity notes, chocolate, light sweet, light to medium bitter. Medium to full body, slick texture, soft carbonation and malty bitter-sweet finish with hopy and light chocolate notes. Very good.
3.9 Bottle, almost a year past BB. Black, brown lace. Broad molassis, light roast, dark chocolate, light rural notes, citric hop aromatics. Medium full body, dry sparkly mouthfeel. Dry roast initially, dark chocolate, a bit salt lick, mellow licorice. Pleasant roast, smoke, burned milk, light citric/fruity retronasal, milk chocolate with orangepeel in the aftertaste. Probably dried out and mellowed a bit over the year which hasn't hurt it. Dry, but more of a Porter than a Black IPA.
4.5 Many thanks for this darkness of beer to Mariusz. Piana spora jakby 2 fazowa, pierwsza o koloze jasnego capuccino ta wyzej nieco jasniejsza, pachnie biszkoptami. Mroszczn i ciemna barwa nie przepuszczajaca swiatla. Smakowo sporo chmielnosci, wyczuwalna mocna i dlugo trwala goryczka w gardle, moze za krotko trwa ta cudowna chwila, ale smakowo wyborne piwo, Cimna IPA o smaku zimnej jakosciowej arabici popijanej ciasteczka korzenne i pierniki.
4.2 Bottle from Pivný raj This is gorgeous BIPA. Everything starts with great aroma which is mixture of roasted malt and citruses. Then the taste. That's something resins, fresh citruses and coffee with bitterness and light sourness and it's kinda sweet as well. You can find here everything. Great.
3.9 Bottle. Pours darkest brown. Aroma is liquorice, roasted burnt malt, chocolate, grassy hops. Body is heavy, strongly bitter and very roasted, quite sweet, with a discreet carbonation, liquorice and coffee flavours. Almost dry palate, lingering on roasted malt notes. Good!
3.5 330ml bottle. Near black with tan head. Nose is cocoa, roasty, blackberry, leafy hop. Quite fizzy, quite bitter, more of the same flavours. Decent black IPA.
3.9 330mml bottle as part of the European Local Swap 3/2017, many many thanks to herrklemann for this one. Tasted on the 10/12/2017 at home. Intense black colour with a medium foamy tan head with good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice bread and some coffee. Taste is intense roasty and medium hoppy with a light sweet and bitter finish. Really interesting mouthfeel and finish. Next one please!
3.4 Thanks to Geiserich! Dry, bitter, coffee notes, a bit of dark malt tartness, tanic finish. Rare example of an in-your-face oldschool IPA in a dark form.
3.9 Bottle (thanks Sebilinz). Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is roast, sweetness, coffee, citrus. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, coffee, citrus, grapefruit. Finish is roast bitter with sugar. Overall: very good, wish there were more black ipas like this avilable...
3.2 Pours virtually black from the bottle. The frothy tan head lingers amidst sticky lacing. Aroma is pine, a bit floral, a touch of ink, roasted coffee, chocolate. Taste is bitter with strong roasted undertones. Quite hoppy, perhaps too much so for my taste in a black ipa. Finishes with a sort of piney bitterness that feels thin and brittle, leaving little room for sweeter notes. Body is medium, carbonation is moderate. Okay but not among my favorite in the style.
3.6 On tap at Craft Beer Coeln. Pours black with a little white head that leaves lacing. The aroma features roasty maltiness and hoppiness with some pine needles and grass. Taste is medium to heavily bitter, very hoppy. Roastiness counters but does not surpass hoppiness. Flavours of pine, licorice and coffee. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth and low to average in carbonation. Nice fresh BIPA.
3.7 33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Zürich. BBE27.02.2018. Aroma has pine needles and licorixe. Also resiny notes. Flavour has licorice, pine needles, licorice and grapefruity hops. Hoppy and nice.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a fading light beige foamy head. Aroma is of pine, citrus, grassy, chocolate, biscuit. Taste is of chocolate, coffee, biscuit, pine, grapefruit, citrus. Oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
3.8 From 0.33 L bottle; pours murky, dark brown colored with a huge, light brown head. Aroma is herbal, medium hoppy, also slightly roasted malts, dark bread, some caramel and liquorice. Taste is medium to heavy bitter, grassy, herbal, slightly citrus hoppy in the beginning. Liquorice in the middle, medium bitter, a bit sweet. Long finish, slightly toasty and bitter. Slightly creamy consistence, soft carbonation, medium to full body. Nice one, well done!
Gut so 👍. Ein bisschen ölig ist es auch. Und mit Espressosäurefinish on Top. 0,33l Buddel from the mighty CRAFT BEER STORE HH. Zwei Monate abgelaufen, schlappe 1,50€ und Geil As Hell 💋.
3.6 Tap at Tribaun. Hazy brown color with tan head. Aroma is coffee, earthy, nutty, chocolate, some cat piss. Taste is more of the same, with a slightly earthy finish. One of the better Black IPAs.
3.6 330ml bottle. Pours almost pitch black. Moderate beige head. Cocoa, chocolate, citrussy notes in the aroma. Chocolaty notes, cocoa, notes of coffee beans and cocoanibs. Bitter chocolate in the end. Cocoa in the aftertaste. Rather light bodied, quite tasty brew.
3.6 330 ml bottle. Nearly black colour, small head mostly lasting, good lacing, soft carbonation. Nose is stout-like: Sweetness, dark chocolate, liquorice. Flavour is minimal sweet, coffee, pine, less fruity than other BIPA’s. Extensive and long lasting bitterness in the aftertaste. More elements from a stout than from an IPA. Good.
3.3 Pours brown with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, flavor of chocolate, coffee, caramel, medium bodied
4.1 On tap. Black color, white head. Aroma of coffee is dominant, pretty much nothing else recognized in background. Taste is balanced between bitterness and oils from roasted malt. Great brew.
3.5 Dark brown color, tan head. Aroma has dark malts, some acidic cacao notes but also some resiny hops. Taste has some spicy notes, cacao, dark malts, oranges and citrusy hops. Medium body and carbonation. A nice black IPA with an interesting citrus and cacao flavor combination.
4.0 Guest tap at Liquid, Luxembourg City. Pours black with a lasting beige head. Aroma of hop, chocolate, dark fruit and vanilla. Light sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Finish is slightly dry, with a creamy roasty bitterness.
