3.7Bottle at home, #2905/3600, rake number 16KAY, 27/05/16.
Black with a moderate tan swirl that soon dis sipates to nyadda.
Nose is sweet malt, rich chocolate, mellow barrel, molasses, raisens, toasted coconut.
Taste comprises liquid fruit cake, light barrel tones, sweet malt, liquid chocolate, light charr, dates, raisens, light spice.
Hasn’t held up too badly at all ... a touch sweet and cloying but a decent enough sipper.
4.2Bottle from Systembolaget (aged since release). At first the smell was awfull, smelled like a dead animal farted. But then it got better with lots of chocolate and caramel. Very sweet taste, malty with chocolate, caramel and fudge. Both the smell and taste improved allot when it got some air. Sweet liquid candy.
4.0Pitch black color. Completely flat, big cacao nose with coconuts. Low carbonation tons of cacao and dark fruit, roasted malt. Sweet full body, but not over the top.
4.0Bottle shared by Gurthnar at Bratislava Slovak-Austrian RB Tasting, thanks!
Black body, without any head.
Aroma of melting dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, some liquorice, dark fruits, booze.
Tastes of chocolate, coffee, some coconut, some liquorice, dark fruits, some yeast, booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes alcohol warming, with chocolate, cocoa, coffee.
Tasty. A comfortable, full sipper. Boozy, but also quite smooth, with a lot of tasty dark malts and some interesting other notes from the background.
3.8Bottle at Shared Slovak and Austrian RB crew tasting 05/2015. Pours deep brown color, dark beige head. Aroma of licqourice, chocolate, coffee, vanilla. Taste is very sweet, licqourice, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, alcohol is present, whiskey, coconut, cacao, soya sauce.
4.6Bottle. This beer is one of the few boasting of several adjectives which actually delivers all of them. The color is very dark, almost black. Carbonation mostly escaped but that is OK here. It is really sweet but not disturbingly so. You get loads of caramel, coconut is present, whisky barrels as well and finally also light Belgian yeasty character. Complex but really nicely rounded and harmonic. Alcohol hidden well and easy drinking.
4.0bottle kindly shared by Gurthnar at Slovak Austrian RB Tasting, many thanks. black color, oily looks, almost no carbonation. smells liqueurish, malty sweetness, strong dried fruits, chocolate, caramel, alcoholic, coconut, wooden notes. full body, almost no carbonation noticeable, oily mouthfeel. tastes alcoholic, wooden notes, coconut, malty sweetness, dried fruits, some chocolate. alcoholic / malty sweetness / notes of coconut. very nice, rather heavy though.
3.3Black and thin with a sugary sweetness. Lively with some yeast. Don’t really get much coconut or any of the unique ingredients. Sort of fies in the glass with a slight austere end. Another Abstrakt disappointment
3.9(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with strong sweet espresso, liquorice, cacao, oak wood, molasses and hints of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong sweet espresso, cacao, molasses, hints of coconut and a sweet, vinous finish. There’s a certain cocoa bitterness there, but mainly overshadowed by sweet malt. Full body, quite sweet. Complex and vinous, with lots of taste. Very nice.
3.3Bottle at Craig’s. Pours near black with no head. Aromas of liquorice and dark sugars. Taste is sweet, quite boozy. not getting any coconut to be honest.. Finishes a bit thin. Glad to have tried.
3.9Bottle at Craig’s. Sweet, liquorice, little coconut, bit of a funky aftertaste that lingers, sweet, thin.
Bottle at home, now 7 years old! Massive soy sauce and chocolate, roasted, leather, quite sweet, hints of the coconut. Not bad actually.
3.5Backlog. Tasted at a vertical tasting of the first six abstracts released. Bottles from Systembolaget. Slightly too sweet for me.
3.6Bootle at home traded with Nick for an AB:06 ages ago. Aroma is sweet brown sugar, muscavado sugar and toffee. Dark brown black pour clear with no head. Really viscous sryupy pour legs. Flavour is sweet toffee, brown sugar and soft roast. some coconut maybe? Maybe aged this one too much. Some earthy coffee bean in the finish. Palte is full and sweet sticky with low carbonation. Hides the the alcohol well. Tasty, maybe a bit too sweet.
4.0Taster from a 37.5cl bottle at La Cantinetta, Rimini. It pours a deep black color with basically no head. Aroma is big on roasted malts, toasted coffe beans and light coconut notes. Little residual sweetness. Taste confirms the little sugars left and great balance of this beer with big coffee and roasted notes. Then some toasted coconut emerges and the finish is bitter with loads of coca. Mouthfeel is quite thick with soft carbonation. Overall, very good IS
3.3Bottle. Pours opaque black with a small, fizzy beige film head? Disappears fast. Aroma has sweet malts, vinious, coconut, mild chocolate. Low carbonation, oily and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is very sweet, sticky, coconut. Mild roasted with some clear coconut.
3.6Corked 37.5 cl bottle @ home (bottle #1234). Pours black with some sediment and no head. Aroma and flavour is coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee – with a sweet and slightly alcoholic finish.
3.4Soft brown body, slight off white head. Easy coco milk, soft spice. Tense charred bitterness with harsh lactosey finish.Big rusty amber body with boozy listless head. Coppery nose, firey. Dense oily, oxidsed boozeage slips away to floral rustiness. Crystalled throughout, keeping it steely and narrow. Terse finish, mapely
Bottle, Brewdog Garvie Gauntlet
3.0Bottle. Black with little tan head. Aroma of licorice and ovaltine. Taste of licoroce and alcohol, some dark fruits. Very sweet and a little rough. Not as bad as it was when it came out but still not great.
4.3375mL bottle at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours jet black with just a few bubbles of brown head. Aroma screams coconut upfront, followed by decadent cocoa notes. The coconut and cocoa are pretty much the main two qualities on the nose. Flavour is intensely sweet, almost sickly sweet, but somehow fitting, with notes of coconut and cocoa upfront, a little caramel, and lots of residual sugars. This is fairly cloying in sweetness, but somehow it works. These uber-sweet impie stouts are usually detracting to me, but this one feels elegant and complex. Excellent stuff. Perhaps only second to Abstrakt AB:04 in the series. Inexplicably great.
3.2Black, almost no head. Candy aroma, chocolate and coco toffee cream goodies. The taste is less coco and more soy sauce and madeira, some sort of weird liquor filled chocolate? Low carbonation, medium mouthfeel. Tokyo light?
3.7Pours thick and black. No carbonation. Nose has massive amounts of chocolate. Taste is smoot, rich and chocolaty. Alcohol is not very obvious. A lighg bitterness in the very back of the mouth. Mouthfeel is a bit of, since there is no carbonation. Al in all, awesome beer, but really needed that carbonation to lift it.
3.0Probably should have drank this on it’s own as this followed the 04.
Nose is nice as got good notes of fruit, chocolate and coconut.
Rest went downhill quite fast as quite sweet and syrupy. needed carbonation to lift this. Chocolate cake on crack I though. Slick, sweet and syrupy. Needed more dryness
4.0Very dark brown with a tiny brown head. Malty with vanilla tones. Malt, vanilla and chocolate. Full body with a nice balanced finish.
4.01st March 2011
Opaque black beer, little tan head. Sweet coffee and dark malt nose. Soft and surprisingly light palate. Sweet dark malts, traces of coffee, chocolate and sweet brandy. The coconut is pretty subtle and on the back of the tongue. Trace of red berry fruits in the mid. Some aniseed alcohol but no real heat. Semi dry finish. Sweet, tasty and well joined up beer. Should be even better in a year or two.

Abstrakt 01 - 25 Vertical @ Brewdog Sheps Bush. Opaque dark brown - black beer, short lived bubbly tan head. Sweet dark malts, caramel and chocolate. Reasonable coconut. Some tang and ripe fruits. Tangy fruity finish. Aged but tasty and rich. 3.4
4.0375ml bottle.
Pours almost pitch black, with reddish/brown hints, and a thin brown head.
Roasted aroma, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, licorice, quite spicy.
Sweet, full bodied, medium to high bitterness, low CO2.
Roasted, spicy taste, cocoa, coconut, chocolate, toffee, licorice, coffee beans, vanilla, pepper, wood?
Rich in flavours, but not overly complex. (2012-11-03)
3.2Bottle. Pitch black. Roasted nuts, cocos, dark chocolate and a hint of ash in the aroma. Very sweet flavor with rye bread, cocos, chocolate, roast, speculaas and hazelnuts. No carbon. The oversweet flavor is a disappointment after the fine aroma.
2.4Bottled at ekstedt dec11
Pitch black with a beige head
Very sweet aroma; soy-sauce.
Way too sweet and oily flavour.
Some chocolate and a medium bitterness.
3.3Ruby tinged black. Slight acetic note on nose, quite sweet, chocolate, light toast, long sweet finish.
