3.8 Bottle. Black colour with small creamy off white mostly lasting head. Malty oldish aroma. Sweet vineous flavor. Oily palate.
3.8 Bottle. Frothy off-whight good mostly deminishing head. Dark amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Long moderate bitter nice finish. Whisky present. Creamy palate.
2.8 Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Nose is big in booze. Light smokey character. Pour is pitch black with minimal head. Very weird flavor moderate smokiness turns into a magic marker. Not very good. I think the scotch part with the smokiness just doesn’t work well. The fact that the beer is nearly flat doesn’t help either.
4.1 Bottle #3908, tested 10.01.2013. Dark reddish brown color, no foam. Aroma: powerful, sweet, port or sherry, brandy, liqueur, hard alcohol, caramel, toffee, bread, cake, raisins, slightly smoked. Taste: powerful and warming, whisky, malt, prunes and other dried fruits, toffee, a little roasted and oak barrels, unbalanced.
2.9 Most atypical Scotch I’ve ever had. Like dark brown grainy loaf with soya gaminess this has a range of unharmonious flaviurs and no lasting head. Sweetness is very much in the background.
3.5 Cola brown, no head to speak of. Nose is sticky sweetness with lots of malts and raisins, mild spice notes, caramel notes. Flavor is very boozy with malts, raisins, caramel. Sharp alcohol in the long finish. Intense, but very boozy and pretty simple. Sampled at the overpriced beer tasting.
3.8 0,375L bottle at the overpriced beer tasting, thanks for sharing guys! Pours dark brown-black. Aroma is sweet, dark chocolate, malt. Flavor is sweet, dark chocolate, malt, some roast and alcohol. Overall: I like sweet malty brews, hence I enjoyed this one.
3.0 375ml bottle @Overpriced Beer Tasting. Very dark brown color. No head. So sweet, malty, raisins, faint woody, alcohol, plums in aroma. Sticky aroma. Plum stones, malty, sweet, caramel in taste. Some roast in aftertaste. Dull.
3.1 375ml bottle (the 200e of overpriced shit session) Huge malty aroma, mammi. Body full, smooth and a little flat. Huge malty taste, tons of mammi, some marmite too. A bit sticky palate. Finish full or malt. Dull stodgy beer. Vote for overpriced at 15e: 5/7
3.8 200€ worth of beer. Bottle 3778. Pours slightly cloudy dark cherry. Aroma of rye bread, kind of a pumpernickel. Oily and with a well hidden abv for 12.5. Overly sweet, roasted and with a quick finish. A good experience.
2.9 (Bottle, 0.375 l - bottled on 22.09.11 - bottle #3778, courtesy of FatPhil, 20141227) The beer poured rather clear. No head. Aroma had mämmi, molasses and malts. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, oxidised beer, alcohol and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, boozy and bitter. A boozy malty brew.
3.4 [6472-20140708] Bottle. Sweet toasted malty aroma. Slightly hazy, cola brown body with no lasting head. Sweet caramel toffee flavour has a long aftertaste with a bit of a woody vanilla note. Medium body. Good but boozy. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4 (Tasting at cgarvieuk’s, w/ him, BenH, jercraigs, Stuu666, others) Overheard: "In an Abstrakt, nothing’s getting through that cork."
3.7 Corked, not easy to open the 375ml bottle. No.623/4400, bought at Vinmonopolet Vika three years ago. Bright naked surface to a deep dark ruby coloured body. Aroma of dark fruits and wood. Taste profile of prunes, figs and sweet dark malts. Malt bitter ending with a discreet touch of whisky. Well rounded on the swallow. Slow sipper, perfect for sharing (shared with Finn, Tromsø 10.12.2014).
3.6 Flaske # 623/4400. 375ml. Spandert av og delt med Rune på Nerstranda 10 Des. 14. Ultradyp amber. 0 skum. God aroma av plommer. Sherrypreg. Smaken er tørr frukt. God!
3.9 Bottle with Pat and Ben. A bit murky dark red brown colour with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, some spices, tobacco, woody. Flavour is sweet initially with caramel, wood, raisins, prunes, alcohol, liquorice, perhaps some whisky. Body is medium. Whisky is downplayed and on the whole this is well balanced.
3.4 2014-07-08. Very dark body small head. Aroma is sweet, lightly soy kissed, caramel malt and mild alcohol. Flavour is sweetish malty core, alcohol, moderate whisky. Smooth medium bodied palate, no carbonation. Bottle, Tasting at cgarvieuk’s, Edinburgh Overheard:"There’s TWO butts in my peach."
3.7 Bottle 1581 at home . Pours dark brown , muddy , clear, but to dark to see trough . No foam at all . Smell is sweet, woody , sharp . Taste is sweet, yet very sharp, touch of whiskey . malty, sweet back . Body is way to thin to join in with these tastes and this kind of alcohol, making it have a boozier feeling than it idealy should have had . Carbonation is very low, but working for this beer .
3.6 Bottle received via trade with cgarvieuk. Pours dark brown with a small, fizzy tan head, short retention with spare to no lacing. Aroma is toast, caramel and cookie malt, toffee and dates, figs, whiskey and oak with earthy notes. Flavor is sweet dark malt, dark fruits, oak and whiskey with vanilla notes, faint hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
4.5 Bottle at home. Fruity nose with whisky. Sweet, malty taste with subtle whisky, not overpowering.
4.1 375ml bottle, #2835/4400. Pours a deep, almost clear mahogany brown, with very little head. Complex, quite developed aroma, dark chocolate, licorice, wod, vanilla, dried fruits, prunes, earth, coffee, dark berries, hints of smoke. Semi-sweet, full bodied, mid to high bitterness, low (no?) CO2. Complex, mature, balanced taste, dark fruit, chocolate, rasted malt, wisps of smoke, coffee beans, licorice, earth, wood, vanilla, tannins, tobacco. Long finish, the wood and high alcohol have become very well integrated, I’m glad I left this a few years in the cellar Really nice. (2014-05-22)
3.7 Bottle shared by esp0r with me and edvard, september 27th 2013. Dark brown body, small offwhite head. Aroma of biscuit, dried fruits, alcohol. Taste of sweet caramel, vanilla, wood, chocolate, red wine. Pretty sweet finish with a warm wine and vanilla aftertaste.
3.6 Bottle from Brewdog online way back. Pours as flat cola. Currents, molasses, deep caramel, liquorice. Taste of liquorice, coffee and toffee. Medium light body considering the abv. Clean mouthfeel. Perhaps a little jaded and over aged.
3.9 Pours a very dark brown with no head. Aroma is burnt sugar, raisins, figs, dates, marinated red berries, tar, smoked oak, leather, honey. Taste is burnt sugar, honey, figs, dates, caramel, some vanilla and smoked meat. Very good!
3.9 Bottle - Caramel, raisin, brown sugar and some light whisky barrel notes. Cloudy deep brown with not much of a beige head. Lots of dark fruit and caramels, some chocolate notes and the some whisky barrel. Finish is sweet and that is where I get the Scotch Ale notes. Booze is almost non existent and mouth feel is very rich. This is a great beer, but I would have never guessed Scotch Ale.
3.8 Bottle. Pours black brown with barely no head. Aroma is vinous malty port raisins. Flavor malty vinous chocolate raisins sherry mildly buttered.
3.7 Taster from a 37.5cl bottle at La Cantinetta, Rimini. It pours a clear dark copper colour with a very small tan head. Nose is dark fruits, booze and roasted malts with some whisky notes. Taste is rich, sweet and malty with whicky and some spices. Rather good
3.4 How: Bottle. Where: Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Appearance: Brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma: Alcohol, chocolate, fruit. Body: Medium body, low carbonation. Flavour: Alcohol, caramel, liquorice, sweet fruit.
3.4 Bottled 375ml@VWPBF Deep ruby color, no head. Wood, some sugars and whisky in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Harsh alcohol, wood, toffee and warming whisky in the flavor. Nice but quite an alcohol bomb.
3.7 Color: nice deep black beer with no carbonation and really small brown foam. Smell: roasted malt, coffee, licorice, and some chocolate notes. Taste: high sweet beer with malt and coffee. Aftertaste: nice caramel and licorice with some alcohol taste.
